When it’s the sum of parts. I can feel when I’ve lost or gained about 2kg of body weight.

So 1-2kg on a bike is significant on a climb.

People often say “it’s only 300g difference”. Do that across 6 components and you’re nearly at 2kg.

Little weight differences add up, so if you want a light bike you need to look at every component.

I’m going to ask her today, commuting in a minute and won’t see her till I get home. Trouble is she doesn’t really talk, she’s got a few words but most of her development compared to peers has been advanced physical not verbal.

I have literally turned the downstairs of our house inside out and it is no where.

It’s funny that a number of people are saying about subwoofer, first place I looked was in the port of my floorstanders!

Thanks for all the suggestions. So far, no cigar!

It’ll be downstairs, she can’t go upstairs without us due to a stairgate. I’ve come to the conclusion I’ve got to empty the wheelybin bag I put out earlier today. Rubber gloves time in the light!

Absolute mystery. We’ve turned the house upside down.

Sillyoldman that could well be worth doing. Mine is also that spec and the Shimano one is all good.

I’ve got a 1x grouoset I’m about to sell. Approx 10 rides use. 1 x xt. Xt cranks chain and cassette 11-46t 32t narrow wide. Xt shifter and xtr mech. I’d like £250 for it.

    Can get me on

Prob about 4 degrees and raining sideways. Was out for about 3 hours.

I was also doing disciplined zone 2 which prob didn’t help as o wasn’t exactly generating heat.

My overshoes aren’t really overshoes, they are POC things to make you more visible, so was basically out in a pair of Giro summer shoes and 2 pairs of socks. I’m not convinced the foil did anything.

Prob did overstuff a bit… but no it was just flipping cold today and I was wearing summer shoes with an oversize that could be described as lace.

The gore ones suggested look good however £35 is pricey

Good luck matey. Should be a piece of cake, I’m doing 2018 T-total myself.

Cheers guys. Hatter has offered me one that should fit. Just waiting to hear back from him.

Cancelled it. That was all a bit weird… thought I had to act quick to get a bargain. No harm done.

Yeh I have. They can’t tell me the spec. I’m sending it back if it doesn’t match, ordered it on the credit card so I’ve got protection. They’ve put a note on their system that if I’m not happy with the spec then they will return it FOC.

I’m fully expecting some sort of poverty spec to turn up.

Thanks op… you have just however cost me 2k!!!

    Ordered a highball.

I’m hoping the spec matches the picture. Are they carbon rims?

That says 142 and is out of stock.

Is the 142 one the same as one for a boost hub?

Also what’s the difference between the ratchet and 3 pawl ones?

    chilled76

Are the ones for 350 and 240 the same?

Trying to decide if a gx grouopset would be an upgrade over my existing setup on my yeti.

    Currently got

    11 speed xt shifter
Xt cranks with a narrow wide 32t ring
11-46t xt cassette that weighs as much as a small house!
    Xtr 11 speed mech.

I ran out of climbing gear on a climb last week (albeit it was in the lake district and was 880ft of ascent in 1 mile)..

Got me looking at 50t cassettes, I’d prob up to a 34t ring up front if I did..

What do we reckon? Would my bike stay about the same weight but have a bit more gear at both ends?

Should I just go for a cassette mech and shifter and leave my xt cranks on there?

I’d want anti gravity for 3x the price! Is it a big difference in weight?

Jonnyboi.. as I’ve said I really just want to change to a 29er hardtail and have a budget of about a grand to build something as light as possible. I’m thinking the donor parts from the other one is the best way.

The race is just an excuse.

Kryton… What frame have you built that around?

Jonnyboi.. no idea, its being banded around as an idea at the min with no details as of yet

    chilled76

I’ve got 650b wheels on it at the min. Stans crest on pro11s with 2.0 maxxis tubeless tyres. Lightcycles carbon rigid fork.

Yes I do really just want to buy a new bike… this race is just an excuse.

I like the XT, the jump makes sense as it’s like having a bail out gear for really steep climbs then closer ratios for the rest of the block for the other 99% of the time.

I do plan on racing next year. Just a few local crits.. but that is also spurring me on. Don’t want to be left standing with everyone flying into the distance with me fumbling about trying to clip in.

Duck it. Xtr pedals on the good bike and xt on the training bike.

Anyone recommend some shoes, don’t think my dx ones will look right!

    chilled76

Yeh I’m running a 10 speed xx mech with 10 speed x9 shifters.

As above, so long as you match correct number of gears they are all compatible.

We get fox shit in ours. While its the same as dog shit it somehow makes its less bad. I quite like having the foxes around

    POSTED 35 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

This would be fine. It’s more the owners lack of respect that has me angry. Picking up for pooh occasionally would be fine.

    How can I tell?

    Rather angry!!!!

Don’t seem very chilled to me

It’s actually an ironic nickname that was given me at uni because I was always losing my shit. True story! Not the 76 bit, that’s my lucky number… not my birth year which is annoying as it ages me 6 years.

As above, it’s an 11 speed road cassette with road indexing. It’s just the offset on the carrier that means it sits closer to the spokes.

I think I get what you mean, does that mean the teeth on the largest sprocket are actually in line with the spacer you run?

    chilled76

So basically its a mountain bike cassette? Presuming you could fit a mountain bike 11-36 with a spacer if you were so inclined?

    chilled76
    Free Member

The fact that the above one can fit a 10 speed cassette body?

Or are those r8000 not the same width as a mtb cassette which had been suggested earlier in the thread?

Don’t do it, buy a classis casio one instead. My wealthiest friend wears one as a statement.

I’m presuming this means that Shimano are bringing 12 speed sometime soon if the 11 speeds have been made narrower like an mtb one?

    chilled76
    Free Member

Can anyone answer my indexing question, what mech would work with this and an 11speed shimano 105 shifter?

    chilled76
    Free Member

You can fit the new 11/34 cassette as it’s the same width as a mtb cassette, you have to add a spacer on a road wheel

I’ve not seen these, surely that would throw your indexing out on a road bike? Or is this to be ran on a road bike using a mtb mech? In which case, surely this is just an MTB cassette?

    chilled76
    Free Member

No the 11 speed road cassettes are wider than 10 and 9 which do fit on a mountain bike hub.

I was put forward for a manufacturing engineering position that was heavily materials based. This was when I’d just graduated as a Mechanical Engineer and was very wet behind the ears…

Couldn’t answer any of the technical questions and you could see they felt sorry for me.

As I left I actually turned and tried to walk into a cupboard… literally like something out of a terrible comedy sketch show. Genuinely happened. I was mortified at the time!

    Hilarious thinking back on it!
