I agree with Painey on the paint job, it’s not the best on my 2012 Nerve AM but componenets wise never had a problem from the day it arrived to today (15 months old), only replaced the Headset.
Like everyone said value for money it’s great and hopefully over the next year they will become better with regards to customer services and have a bigger dedicated team in the UK rather than 1 person which was never going to go smoothly.
chiefPFree MemberOld Left New Right
When i google ACROS AI-03 The baring is the same as the one on the right and not the ball bearing that i have removed?
chiefPFree MemberCanyon say the bottom bearing sits into the frame without a Cup, It’s semi-Integrated. The old one is the Ball bearing version.
The lower headset is integrated 52mm headtube internal diameter and 40mm steerer diameter so there isn’t a cup and the bearing sits directly in the headtube however mine wont as it sits on the Lip in pic 1
chiefPFree MemberChelsea have appointed former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez as interim manager until the end of the season.
Previous manager Roberto Di Matteo was sacked on Wednesday following the 3-0 Champions League defeat by Juventus.
Benitez’s short-term appointment could pave the way for owner Roman Abramovich to make a summer approach for ex-Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.
Benitez, 52, becomes the Blues’ ninth manager since Abramovich took over in 2003.chiefPFree MemberchiefP – Member

chiefPFree MemberNerve AM all the way, just so much fun to ride and the kit is unbeatable without spending a few hundreds more for a similar spec.
Remember 30 day money back, don’t like it send it back.
I would have no problems going back to Canyon again, the new AL+ looks so tempting 😆
chiefPFree MemberACL Surgery 16th August 2009
21st August 2010 completed the 7 day Transwales.
Highlight of my biking so far!
chiefPFree MemberHi Mate,
Don’t be put off by the cant try before you buy as you have a 30 day try out, don’t like it send it back and get your money back.
Iv got the 9.0 SL and love it, rides and climbs great and comes in at 27lbs which for a AM bike is pretty impressive. It never feel out of place and begs to be pushed more which is where to me is its highlight.
Its now 3 months since i got it and the only thing iv changed is the brake pads everything else is still as it came.
There are 2 other companies to look at and that’s Rose

and
YT Industries
chiefPFree MemberTry Strava, its a little more fun by having special timed segments.
Try it out once its back up
chiefPFree MemberOk going from ‘Downhill is for fat lazy people who dont have any fitness,
I switched from XC to DH in 2011 after a full season of XC in 2010 from XC Enduros (Whinlatter Challnege etc) XC Marathon’s (TransWales 7 Day) to DH races at Pearce and Caersws to name a few by far the hardest was the DH not just skill level but fitness.
2mins down a DH track and i was more out of breath nd felt that i had woked every muscle in my body than doing a long XC race. Upper body is key as well as pedalling which is not as easy as you first think on a DH bike.
So all you arm chain keyboard non DH warriors out there i would pay money (not very much mind you) to watch you try and then say ‘that was easy’
Now onto the DH/F1 thing, i enjoy watching both depending on track and weather. Dry track on a boring track = Boring, Wet track on a fun track = fun SIMPLES.
Must say though some stuff on here is utter garbage, too many keyboard warriors here and not even worth talking to, got better things to do than argue with someone who will just ‘never’ get it.
chiefPFree MemberMake a weekend of it, with C-Y-B 25mins down the road the Marin and Penmachno 30mins, Llandegla 50mins and Snowdon around the corner your pretty spolit for choice.
Cant wait but dont expect it to be dry as Blaenau is the wettest place in Wales and only Fort William is ahead of it 😀
chiefPFree MemberSpudly,
Yep that was one of many reasons why i chose Canyon 😀 6 years on frame, 2 years for all the other stuff as usual.
”In addition to the legal requirements we voluntarily offer a 6 year warranty on this year’s frames and forks for racing and triathlon bikes as well as on mountainbike frames (with the exception of bearing assemblies and suspension forks). Our warranty is valid from the date of purchase and is non-transferable.
All other components are covered by the standard 2 year manufacturer’s warranty.”
Morley,
What riding do you mostly do?? remember the AM can drop to 120mm when needed but the XC obviously cant go to 150mm if needed.
Most of my riding is done at trail centres, natural riding and off piste and 150mm is perfect for me.
chiefPFree Member]My small list for 2012

chiefPFree MemberCanyon are great for sorting you out if there is a problem as they have a dedicated uk centre and a very quick turn around. You may be buying blind but Canyon customers benefit from numerous services such as a 30-day right of return which people forget about, a 6 year guarantee, dont see that anywhere else? and crash replacement.
EDIT – All explained above 😀
P.S You might bump into someone to test ride one, they are popping up at quite a few trail centres now and i no longer feel alone 🙂
chiefPFree MemberI have the Canyon Nerve AM and love it and would be ideal for Glentress and Inners, you can switch it to 120mm or back up to 150mm.
There is no real weight difference between the XC and AM, the AM climbs really well in 120mm just like the XC and decends even better when back up to 150mm.
The AM is ideal more technical stuff and a all rounder bike.
chiefPFree MemberHere it is as of Monday (16th) thanks to Sam for the video
Weather looks pants this weekend though
Saturday
Staying cloudy with extensive hill fog and outbreaks of rain or showers at times with snow on summits. Strong, gale force northwesterly winds and feeling colder than previous days, with a freezing level of 700 m.
Sunday
Very similar to Saturday with gale foce northwesterly winds, extensive cloud and hill fog, and some rain or showers at times, falling as snow on summits. Freezing level 700 m.
chiefPFree MemberHi Mate,
im 5’9 and got a medium which is a 18.5inch frame but fits me fine, personally i prefer the 17.5 but they dont make that size.
No mine is set to 2 ‘medium’ never even switched it onto firm as iv never felt the need to adjust it, still playing around with it TBH but thats what im happy with.
Any other questions just fire away, im learning more about the bike the more rides i do.
chiefPFree MemberDuane have a read of this from DavidM, could be worth a go next to Ogwen.
http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/hardest-trail-you-have-ever-ridden/page/3
Ffynnon Llugwy Reservoir is in the picture in case you were wondering.
chiefPFree MemberNot got a 29er but my Nerve AM rides really nice and climbs really well, the perfect trail bike for me and value for money is great.
Buying direct is not great but you do have a ’30 day return’ if you dont like the ride it which i dont see anywhere else plus if anything does go wrong they are really quick at sorting you out, just as fast as getting anything done in the UK which can take weeks.
chiefPFree MemberSwimming is far harder than people think, especially with a dodgy ticker. Best way to exercise the lungs and heart but it puts a lot of stress onto them areas, i dont want to go into what happened in our work gym when i guy which a dodgy ticker went on the running machine…..
See a doctor and they will point you in the right direction, one thing for sure its not going to be a overnight things its going to take months if not longer, dont want to sound grim but im being honest we are not doctors and we dont know the full story, get the advice from people who know.
chiefPFree MemberGW,
Defo dont require hip movements to make a whip thats forcing it to move on small table tops where you dont have enough speed and it looks ragged the hips with move naturally anyway, its the same movement regardless. I dont use hips to turn i use my arms and upper body, speed helps. We got tought by a MX/MTB instructor in Whistler so it works for us im sure it will work for anyone else, why do you need hips to move it when the bars are already in the 90deg position next to your hips? the bike will move in the direction you point that front end its just a pivot system.
Pretty much says it all in this video, no mention of ‘move your hips’
chiefPFree MemberWatch how they do it on MX and its one smooth movement with the arms, the hips and legs do nothing if its done right and looks smooth and effortless which it is, just takes time to master.
They way i learnt was to turn the bars in mid air and then pull them down towards your hips to the right or left whichever direction suits you, or if you lead with yor right turn right lead with the left turn left or if your ambidextrous you have the best of both, that then bring the rear out no need for legs or hip movements then turn the bars into the direction you want to put the front wheel, land on the front which as has already been said means the back has time to come back into line with the bike, if you land on both at the sametime ypu will no doubt eat dirt.
Flats make it easier than clips and big tabletops always help.
chiefPFree MemberSchwalbe Tubeless Ready Nobby Nic and Fat Albert on a DT Swiss Tricon XM 1500 Wheels, easy to fit, went up easy and easy to take off.
SIMPLES.
chiefPFree MemberRunning XTR Rear Derailleur 10 Speed, XT 11-36 10 Speed rear with XTR 42/32/24 10 Speed front with the KMC 10 speed chain and not changing it as that nice road climb yesterday on 2.4 tires the 24 came in handy, never like walking its a sign of defeat rather keep the legs turning so i will keep that combination and just gives me more options should i need it rather than limit myself 😀
chiefPFree MemberSkywalker,
I had already made plans if the Bike was crap it was to be replaced my the Remedy frame as swapping the kit is easy as it uses the same, if the kit was crap i would say its crap but as they say each to their own, its my personal review regardles if its my bike or not its main aim is to help people as when i last looked where is there a review on the net of this?. If people dont find it helpful fair enough you cant please everyone but for those who want to know how it rides then this might help in any decision they make. Honesty doesnt cost anything, lying about something to make it sound good doest wash with me.
CP,
TBH i agree its not pretty, the top tube is wierd but then again i didnt buy it to say ‘oh look i have a pretty bike’ at the end of the day as long as it performs i dont care on looks.
chiefPFree MemberIm 5’8 and went by the sizing guide which wa sa Medium and fits fine.
It climbs really well even with 2.4 tires on, it was a little draggy but i was running a pretty low pressure 28psi.
Someone did say to get some anglesets the slacken it a little and make it corner better but with the stiffness on the front in corners great anyway. Not done anything mega technical yet but it feels fine on what iv ridden so far.
Not sure if you would need a chain guide to go with it but may be wrong on that.
chiefPFree MemberFirst time iv used Fox Talas forks last night and made a difference on the climbs at Llandegla, more the long steep climb on the Red to switch from 150mm to 120mm, just nice to have that option.
chiefPFree MemberYeah been rather busy…as for the Bike its freaking awsome, climbs like my old Carbon Scott except that was 4lbs lighter, never used 10 speed before but i can see the advantage. The rear is really well controlled with the RP23 shock, so smooth and no bobble on the climbs and the 18inch frame fits just fine.
Think the 2.4 tires are a little over kill IMO but converted to tubeless in a matter of minutes so i will see how i get on with them.
Takes a while to get use to but no complaints so far.
chiefPFree MemberHeres the look of the shock
Stick my neck out here and say its possibly the best shock Fox have come out with to date.
chiefPFree MemberHi Steve,
Not rode it yet due to other things today so hopefully tomorrow. Frame size its a Medium 18.5.
You can use the Canyon calculator to get the right size so its either a 16.5 S or 18.5 M.
