Or spend the money on carbon. Because it’s better.

Better for bike companies who make stack of cash from these things

Not better for guy who pays way over the odds for something that comes from Taiwan for 250 dollar

OP, you should just relax a bit and enjoy the ride. I cant see any problem, but the one you are making.

What I suspect is that you are getting angry because you perceive someone is benefiting from your hard pedaling work. Its not going to make you any slower.

I suspect you are moaning about this as shouting through audi windows has become less attractive for you.

Just ride and enjoy it FFS. This kind of attitude stinks.

I actually don’t like it even one bit. Sorry….But if you like that is great. Enjoy

Not sure how much it will help on the trail but I just swapped my al road seatpost for a carbon one (also seat with carbon rails) and its made the ride a great deal more comfortable.

I would say seat first make sure you have springy rails.

Can you see the bit in the video where he uses a 2 ton car to force his way past a lightly built man?

It is not a 2 tone car is it now. Exaggerations being thrown around all over the place now. I don’t know

with the clear intent of pushing past the rider

I didn’t see any pushing. Does that mean he failed to do what he intended to do?

He doesn’t use a two ton car to force his way through,
That implies that he some how shunted the cyclist out of the way.

Either your seeing something different from me or you refuse to see what I see.

agreed, absolutely no forcing going on there. I saw someone driving around an annoying cyclist with a big mouth.

I also agree with what you say about bullying. Its not only the use of violence that is classed as bullying. You will hear many women attest that.

Wow. After all these years I thought I got my head kicked in by bullies at school because they were nasty, vicious thugs. Turns out it’s my fault. Thanks for clearing that up.

did you by any chance run around shouting at people and calling them pricks when you were at school? that would explain a few things eh?

Did the car run over his foot?

    No.

The cyclist was more annoyed that the driver just drove off without listening to his lecture. He blazed into the driver like there was no tomorrow.

    he paid the price.

I ave a good mind to go round to the ex owners house and have a word.

I have a good idea, why don’t you follow him round on your bike. That way when he stops at the traffic lights you can shout threatening abuse through his window!

    Four observations:

Cyclist – idiot (but didn’t do anything wrong in ASL)
    Motorist – idiot
    Passenger – thug
    Aracer – idiot

I particularly agree with the last observation. This guy clearly has a very warped way of looking at things.

The cyclist CLEARLY did not almost get run over.

This post has been up a while so I thought I would just add my 2 pence worth.

First I think the title of this thread is misleading. It leads the reader to believe that the driver had road rage and assaulted the cyclist. In my opinion the cyclist had the road rage here and got what he deserved.

The cyclist, was looking for a confrontation, he chose it with wrong people. At first he pipes up, ok job done. However his feelings were hurt as the Audi just sped off and didn’t listen to him. That’s when the red mist descended. Dis you see how he powered down the street like a crazy fool to catch up? Then he got his arse kicked. well I think he deserved it for acting like that. His behaviour has done nothing good for the cyclist today. Oh and did you see that after he got floored he turned back and went back up the road from where he came? it means that he has gone out of his way to hurl abuse at someone.

Now just consider this. Imagine that was you in the car and you had your child in the back? that kind of threatening behavior would have proper scared them.

NDT is usually costly and in this case it is not worth the expense. Why?

Well, you are looking for defects or damage. The point is you don’t know what defects or damage were there right from the start. You don’t know what is acceptable in terms of defects or damage either, so of you find something you will not know if it is something to worry about or not. If you had your bike NDT’d at the start it could help.

my opinion is save your money and do a tap test yourself.

I love the term service when its used for a bike. It implies that some real complex engineering procedure must be carried out.

I think 250 notes is a lot for what OP has had done, mind you if that is the rate it is what it is. I got stung some time ago getting a “service” on a bike, never again. Its true you can probably get all the tools and do it yourself.

Its crazy but the bike scene seems to have gone crazy whether its for bikes or parts or labour the costs are far more than what the products are really worth.

You should seriously think about getting your self a garage. I leave my stuff on the garage floor and then when come back its hanging up all clean.

For me the DA hands down. Its a brilliant groupset, smooth and completely reliable. A pleasure to have.

The Ultegra Di2 is tempting you as its the latest technology (lets say) but its a lower groupset.

My humble opinion and preference is that today I have to plug almost everything in and charge it. I have several drawers full of cables and chargers. I don’t really want to add my bike to this list of things I have to charge (yes i know the charge lasts a while, nevertheless i don’t want to do that).

For me the bike stands for freedom, heath and well being. I dont want to have to think about charging before I go out. Also, adding a battery makes a bike less sustainable and is a little contradiction in my opinion.

A cable is reliable and already does an excellent job. Why do we have to make it more complicated, expensive and worse for the environment?

I booked flights to Nice in september, is this still under the old terms and conditions ? When did the t&c ‘s change? :/

at top of the sports equipment page it says

    Updated 31/10/2013

    the Bicycles page

    Updated 07/11/2013

    so you should be okay

Although you should be ok, If I were you I would email them and check. Its highly likely that when you get to the airport you could have a problem on your hands with someone working on a desk who is unaware of past T&Cs. They are unlikely to discuss the details of past T&Cs with you and you will end up with a load of hastle, possibly a charge and missed flight. Fire them an email, print out the response and take it with you, that way you are ready for everything.

Ah! in terms of how long to ride for. Ramp it up slowly, max 15% time increase per week. Base period think about time in the saddle rather than distance. High volume, low intensity. It will depend on how many hours you have free to do this also.

Some people hate them, but I use a turbo trainer with Trainer road software. Having the software takes the boredome out of just sitting inthe garage peddling.

I agree with both mrblobby and cynic-al.

Its good to read a book to understand what you are doing, but friel can be a bit of an overload. I got Friel last year in prep for this year and tackled it bit by bit, often reading and re-reading to get all to sink in. Now I’m in a position where I have scoped out a training plan for the year. You need goals, objectives and a plan to reach them. Sometimes its had to define these if you have not had a training structure in place the year before. Base miles are extremely important, make sure you get these low intensity miles in. Its quite tough on the road as you always want to go faster, if you day dream you find your hear rate starts to elevate.

Maybe get Friel and see what you think, he also does a blog somewhere.

    Cheers and good luck

Kinetic road machine. Super quiet, excellent quality and life time warranty. If you are thinking of getting a turbo consider this one, its worth the few extra quid and the rolling resistance is very cool.

    Hey frosty125,
It depends the type of riding you want to do and how much you want to travel by train. Trains are always on time and bike friendly you can be in the mountain in 90 mins. From lausanne you coul also take a boat across the lake and ride in france.

Sram red is the lightest. I made the change to red last year, however, I will change to something different for this year. Red is considered to be less reliable and in my experience it was (not sure about the 22). I was disappointed after coming from shimano. With shimano, I mounted everything and was set up and ready to go in 30 or so minutes following that I has seamless changes and trouble free shifting. Red took longer to set up and was far less robust, needing more trimming during the season, often difficult to bring it back to optimum. It was also much more noisy. Build quality wise, Sram red is poorer, I felt it more like tin foil. In general I feel it is not so well engineered, they have seen an essential addition to the groupset being a chain catcher. This is essential as you will drop a chain with some point with the red groupset.

Having said that I don’t have a feel for what the 22 is like. They say seamless shifting with ALL gear combinations.

I would go for campag or DA

Another rip off product from Ass-os.

I like the design of some of their stuff but they really take the piss and take the consumer for idiots. They bleat on about their research labs, but they don’t really have any. They infrequently develop new products, which keeps the costs real low just recycling the same old crap and by looking at their website you can see what they spend their huge profits on. You just see them swanning around flash places having cocktail parties with scantily clad women around. In my opinion they are outdated as a company and uncool. Your website is the window the internal workings of a company and when i looked through this one I personally didn’t like what I saw.

They also did the same with the bike they “created” they went to china, asked the usual guys to make their bike and now try and sell it for 3500 Euro.

I think Rapha do a fine job of doing a refined product with professional marketing, I don’t have any of their gear yet but I now would feel better riding in their gear on pure principal.
