Tried a Large (I seem to be medium in some and large in others) at everyones favourite **** retailer! thought it looked quite low profile on the peg, was like an oil rig on top of me boat! Only ones I’ve liked thus far was some ridiculously priced MET, over a ton for polystyrene get ****! and the ubiquitous Bell Super, not sure this is any help oh well

@ticsmon – well your more of a man than me, probably fitter, it’s not the hardest climb out there buts it’s dull and relentless, the heavy DH bike probably didn’t help matters.

The descent to Lee is a hoot, you can follow it all the way down the red route off to the left and onto the DH course at the bottom right down to Futures Park, adds up to a pretty decent DH run, although I usually want to buzz around Lee itself and take the fork up to the black trail, love the place!

I’ve got my eye on the Coal Rd, Waughs Well run, a lap round Cragg and some sessioning round Lee, should make a nice day ride, when my shock is back from warranty.

Never ridden there, been down the Mersey a few times! should be able to lend a hand. I’m well up for helping out any community lead Cheshire/Lancashire based trails.

Whoa nice replies sorry for the hijack OP  I’ve been eyeballing ways up at Scout Moor Quarry (theres an easier looking road, well from a distance!) and Cown Reservoir just not sure whether the dots can be joined so to speak!

@binners – Yeah Rooley Moor Road is a pretty egregious uncompromising climb, I don’t like it and neither did my mate, in fact we had a little cry into our sandwiches about it

@MadBillMcMad – thanks for the links

Can only echo whats been said, had some great French cars and some absolute dogs, usually electrical problems caused by poor design/component quality, blocked drain holes resulting in water getting into fuse and relay boxes. The build quality and materials is nearly always worse with the frenchies though, weird things break that shouldn’t.

VW/VAG group cars are no where near as reliable as people think, many owners seem to keep quiet about it as well! there have been many common problems spanning all there brands, off the top my head, coil packs, MAF’s, dirty throttle body valves, poor door seals, sloppy cable change gearboxes, premature syncromesh wear, flasher unit relay failures; although the build quality, materials, fit and Finnish tends to be pretty good.

Think it was the last Labour gov that loved those lampposts with covert cameras, they wanted em everywhere! nice outside your house looking in, just in case, GPS on your mobile/car, cameras and microphones on your internet connected TV/Phone/PC/Laptop/Tablet.

Nice on demand surveillance to keep you safe. I for one can’t think of better more trust worthy custodians of our safety than politicians in conjunction with large corps and local council officials, as we know the peoples interests are always their top priority.

We will see how the country wide covert surveillance roll out pans out, my guess in the long term it will bite us on the arse, in many expected and unexpected ways and will make the contractors very rich at our expense, without any consultation or transparency. Still I’ve got my tin foil hat and if I’m not doing anything wrong I’ve got nothing to worry about right, I mean who’s interested in my boring life anyway.

You can go up Rooley Moor Road, it turns in to track only suitable for 4×4 about half way, I ditched my van half way up last time past the Van Breakers, it’s a brutal climb but you come out on top between Lee and Cragg, comedy waymarking as mentioned you can spin the arrows in any direction!!

Any of you know of other routes up there i.e. onto Rooley Moor that are more fun less slog. I believe you can do an XC style run into Cragg from Coal Road (Edenfield) it also looks as though you could go up through Cowpe, anyone familiar with other routes, oh and any word on Facit Quarry?

Strike while the irons hot, the scent of carbon on carbon range topper is in the air, teflon your balls you need to go big here! Can she be talked into a third or forth job? long term investments and all, quality costs but is cheaper in the long run, less maintenance more cuddle and emotional support time, or have all the bullshit avenues been well and truly rinsed and it’s down to trading manual labour, faux romantic gestures and keeping up appearances in front of relatives!

Short stem, wide bar coupled with the low slack geo to handle it, it’s not hype IME and makes a massive difference with few trade-offs for your average rider, who’s tyres leave terra firma from time to time and like to clang the odd big drop as opposed to riding flat tow paths and the like where you won’t feel any advantage.

Surge will be more fun, heavier and cheaper, oh and if it’s last years the seat post is the smaller 27.whatever mm less modern size.

BFE more XC friendly, lighter, steeper, dropper post compatible. I have a Gritstone BFE, it looks luverly but feels very short and is no where near as much fun or as compliant as the Blue Pig it replaced using the same components and frame size, very disappointing given it cost more! will probably end up selling it.

Damn they have a slacker one now FFS

So they can have a **** in peace and piss in the sink without beady eyed stream stoppers. Former Painter/Decorator/Alcoholic, why are all Painter/Decorators big time piss cans? is it the mind blowing job?

It’s a brave new world and only a matter of time before it becomes more covert and subversive, it’s state security services wet dream, as if they are going to knock back the opportunity to have on-demand spying of everyone, thats the plan! and technology for the most part is there, all the big names are on-board and cooperate in secret, it’s only going to get worse.

Your not doing anything wrong you’ve got nothing to worry about right!

Get your tin foil hat on!

Yup sounds like the boiler was spurred off the lighting circuit, a very common bodge! best to blank it off to be safe, otherwise someone will inevitably overload it thinking it’s a normal socket outlet. Socket circuits have 2.5mm wiring whereas lighting is generally 1mm and obviously cannot stand the same loads.

Dear boy we have been at this for years, is the game up I think not! The pantomime shocked response, strong words and posturing, relying on short lived media/public outrage and distractions, whilst restructuring, renaming and carrying on as normal.

Now don’t be a bunch spoilsports and acquiesce like good little plebs. You never know if you work hard enough, you may be able to join us in the Caribbean for a lager at one of those sports bars you people like, after you’ve finished the gardening and polishing the hull of my super yacht :)

@ globalti any other decent boozers round those parts, Lee & Cragg that sort of way?

    chestercopperpot

Nope not the pads either. Feels like all the play/clank is on the damper side rather than the air spring side, FFS not even smashed it round Lee Quarry or hit any drops bigger than 2 ft yet, this is piss poor for a 32mm long travel which should stand up to some pretty heavy duty riding, not a happy bunny at moment :x

davewalsh – With you on all points about the BFE it’s light, a better climber, better quality but not fun and doesn’t egg you on to go stupid/unsafe fast like a Blue Pig.

Ragley Blue Pig if you can find a straight one!

Although those Stantons, Privee Shans, BTR and Alpines look the real deal maybe even a Dartmoor Hornet (Ali) cheap as chips.

Got a BFE looks the part but not clicked with it yet.
