The only way it will end is for Russia to withdraw from Ukrainian territory. Or do you mean no plan to take Russia’s side and force Ukraine to capitulate?

Unfortunately it’s not a morality quiz.

I don’t think Ukraine will ever get all of territory back

Yup seems the most likely outcome.

Yes I’ve noticed it. All the tops that proudly claim to be made from recycled material/fibres look as knackered as tops I’ve had for years with a tiny fraction of the wear. I’ve got Endura and Nukeproof recycled jerseys with the same problems.

The Nukeproof jersey I got lasted one ride. We are talking a few hours here, without crashing and has pulls all over the place. I got a refund!

Absolute shite and a backward step.

Deep down you all know there is no plan to end this conflict.

Drip feed and keep it going until Russia is weakened to the point of nonentity. That’s the goal!

The only thing more satisfying is seeing nerd culture corporatised and said nerds feverishly at the front of the queue with their wallets open “finally we have got the recognition we deserve” followed by the slow realisation of the cash cow they have become!

An old dentist (retired disillusioned with NHS cuts) just drilled a hole in the infected tooth to release the pus, instant relief. The pus erupts like a volcano into your mouth, it’s the pressure build-up which causes the pain!

I believe the practice is now frowned upon, but let me tell you it’s effective. The most effective treatment I’ve ever had!

Anyone who thinks toothache is trivial hasn’t had a proper one or has been lucky enough that the pus has forced a root out into a soft tissue area aka abscess.

    Subscribing to your door. Madness!

Wait till you hear they are also subscribing to their thermostat, fridge and washer.

Can’t help but be amused when tech fanbois/evangelists on the spectrum hero’s rip them off. The coming to terms with it and justifying the new normal is the best bit. We like nice things don’t we!

Bare in mind when you go to a shop their definition of worn out is on the basis of a professional giving you back a fully repaired bike, with no further issues to the repaired/replaced parts. It is an attempt (not always successful and subject to varying standards of workmanship) to prevent a stream of dissatisfied customers rolling back through the doors.

With bicycle drivetrains it is much easier to do this by replacing the lot with brand new components. Which in theory and the vast majority of the time are perfectly straight, free from damage/wear, with all pivot points, bearings, bushings and fixings to factory spec. Would you risk your reputation over a worn slightly bent mech?

Of all the components on bikes, bottom brackets are the worst for increased frequency of repair compared to the old square tapered standard.

Stating the obvious but knowing what the main material/combination of materials are will get you as close as is possible. Most garments have a percentage value of the materials used on the label or in the sales particulars/description. Some brands do go to great lengths to hide these details!

The majority of synthetic base layers are some kind of polyester mix, often with polyamide. Some are polypropylene, rayon/bamboo and other fibres.

Nothing wrong with base layers for skiing, football, running, sailing, mountaineering, whatever if it fits and is your material and thickness of choice!

Had a little play around with the University Challenge sample. If I get time I might have a go at the informal competition on DOA, sampling a Liam Howlett interview. A tune based around the sample “how do you tune the ****” is the sort of mature high art I’m up for.

    chestercopperpot

    I wouldn’t rule that out

Of course not. It’s possible and wouldn’t be the first time a particular mech was susceptible to premature failure with 1x wide range!

    chestercopperpot

Ruling out a design fault with the mech itself. When I have had issues like this, it has been down to worn out jockey wheels. Unfortunately when a chain has come off several times like you say, the cage may well be damaged as well!

Back pedalling issues I’ve had have been freehub bearings dragging/knackered. The chain jumping/glitching on the cassette and/or jockey wheels was a stiff link/damaged chain!

This is where I would start.

I can only speak for myself but:

A lot of people, incl. typically on stw, automatically dismiss anything in the Daily Mail without giving it much thought.

In contrast they will often automatically accept something written in the Guardian because it is the Guardian. Which is why wherever possible if I want to provide a link on here I try do it to an article in the Guardian.

I take anything I read as the writers/publishers opinion/interpretation of events including the Guardian. I’ve never relied upon a single source for information, nor am I tied to any particular source. I may well be part of a minority group in this!

I was also pleased to hear the problems with bias are taught at secondary school level now-a-days, something which didn’t happen in a meaningful way when I was at school!

Yes they (government using private sector agents) have made it harder and harder to move or spend large amounts of money (not even that large anymore) in the UK and EU as a whole. I can’t remember the exact dates as it is quietly done via financial legislation/regulations. Your average member of the public only notices it when moving house or some other larger transaction. Some people rarely come in to contact with it so effectively don’t know about it!

The principle of rolling out policing via the private sector has been grabbed with both hands by UK government (why do you think they are so keen on privatisation across all sectors) because it costs next to nothing to bring in legislation/regulations and get the private sector to implement it! They have got nothing to lose. The private sector agent gets the majority of the blame for the inconvenience involved, in what is increasingly interfering with legitimate day-to-day life. You see it everywhere from rubbish tips, telecoms to basic ID/licence documents.

The best part about it is the two tier system allows rich people and some dual nationality individuals to opt out of the majority of vetting and hassle by conducting their dealings off-shore in lesser regulated environments.

Seem to remember they have a TV production company that knocks this shit out.

Caught some of the early morning news over the last few weeks, well it’s news in loosest sense! People trying to catch each other out over gender labels, in a competition of who’s got the moral high ground, feckless kids and their useless parents etc… A load of diversionary right wing bollocks designed to motivate older voters, you know the one’s who are always right about everything and always vote!

It’s the reason I’ve stuck with HG freehubs. I wanted to swap but cassettes for XD and Micro Spline are piss-takingly expensive. TBF the SRAM standard does require more machining, but 100 quid minimum for a wear part, no thanks!

I don’t want to piss on the vintage **** bank but…

It has got to be recognised as one of the worlds most drawn out struggles. The battle between those fearsome caterpillars for dominance over the forehead. One can only imagine the chaos wrought if they teamed up as an omnipotent force!

In the Copperpot household, the unkempt black pubic stripe is referred to as a brush (The Shape of Water), for it’s similarity to a commercial sweeping brush. What a combination!

What’s even more annoying is that there’s loads of cheap Chinese clamps on eBay for the Sram shifter but sod all for I spec ev

    I noticed that.

If you just need the insert, I reckon (I haven’t tried it) you could use the insert out of either below. It’s just a threaded hole and bolt after all.

The one below converts a shifter with band on top cover!

At least we know the two tier tax system, the one that has always been denied or misrepresented as insignificant is a thing, a very big thing, with no political will to change it. A great big **** you to the little people.

I just had dispatch note for a NS Majesty frame and 26″ Enigma Roll wheels and an Eccentric Cromo frame all at £11.99 each

    Wow solid frames NS bikes.

The Eccentric Cromo is verging on a high end finish. I’ve had both the alu and cromo. The alu ones are lighter but more industrial looking with rougher (functional not bad) welds. Both ride well and have decent enough geometry!

I’m happy with Decathlon merino wool hunting socks (thickest and highest merino content) and Etnies Culvert boots.

Five ten shoes are the worst for me. Some kind of water resistant boot really does help, first line of defence and all that!

rather than through the shellsuits of the coast

Sometimes people want to immerse themselves in the culture. Fighting off the XL bullies, singing Who the **** is Alice at the north pier bar after a Chubby Brown gig. Then getting your head kicked in by a roided up bodybuilder over some spilt larger.

Once you get past the Metropole hotel you’ve pretty much got the beaches to yourself (you can bob for turds till your hearts content) and the seafront is pretty pleasant by any standard.

This pretty much sums it up, anyone that wants to stop using cash now is free to do so as it stands, seems some people want to ban other’s from using cash because they personally don’t want to

Choice is the answer, not getting rid of cash altogether

You get it with wheel size, gearing, media platforms, games consoles, anything! Trying to cancel other peoples choice to bolster superiority complexes and vested interests, pathetic isn’t it.

With Cube it would very much depend on the model year and size. Their HPA frames are usually pretty light compared to the majority and tend to be better in the smaller sizes up to medium, occasionally large depending on the model and year.

I would take a Manitou shock over an RS Monarch any day.

Some of the older Banshee’s were prone to cracking at the welds, even though the frames looked solidly built and were pretty hefty!
