I want to believe this is the start of major national improvements (and yes something is better than nothing). Having lived in this country all my life, rarely has such national sea change been achieved since Victorian and post Victorian times and has always lagged behind other nations of similar economic standing.

Most of the modern interventions have been chronically under-funded (as in this instance), short sighted, begrudged/sabotaged by competing interests and poorly managed. Implemented in a sporadic piecemeal manner like splatting a turd with a cricket bat.

The fundamental lack of respect endemic in British society, the manipulators who both encourage and exploit it are the cancer preventing real progression in this country.

@hols2 You take the piss out of old Burt, associating him with them charlatans and this will be you in the village square! Member a good proportion of STW get their frames from him.

Might just be the valve core.

If you can still get Manitou Mcleods dirt cheap (150 quid) they’re not bad for an inline shock and relatively easy to service and maintain!

At this time of year with weather as it is, absolutely bloody **** brilliant.

After ride late evenings in the myriad of wonderful peak district pubs would make it perfect!

Wait till you get rear suspension then instead of ploughing into rock gardens you’ll jump into them and let the bike work it out!

Grid casing pretty good, compounds and wear not the best IME.

But if the price is right, why not. Worn tyres and any old shit will do in summer as long as they can take the faster speeds and big hits!

    @ransos

FFS boy keep your film (movie for you isn’t it) references up to date.

Using your vernacular, it’s not okay.

0/10 on the social media moral outrage front, that’s right no internet points for you!

It is customary (STW) to intentionally misinterpret a post, throw in an ism or an ist…… Edinburgh defence, strawman and hoisted by ones own petard. This is usually backed up by a few sycophants and toadies “yeah what he said” which unfortunately you don’t seem to have.

There’s a Moto X company that does a stem called Hammerhead with different grades of poly bushes that fit round the handlebar.

How we haven’t seen this simple solution already in MTB I don’t know. They could even colour code the bushes, give-em silly names and charge an extortionate upgrade price for them!

Depends what your definition of “dirt cheap” is.

CRC have the basic versions of Manitou Minute Comps (£150) and Suntour Aion Boost spacing (£165)

Yup I like-em as a fast rolling rear tyre, like a scaled down Wild Enduro. Pretty robust for a lightish carcass unless you go stupid low pressure.

If you fit medium or large and don’t want super long Stereo’s are pretty good. Light and fast bikes IME. If you need Xl/XXl and want a long “wheels on the ground” ploughing machine look elsewhere.

They need a progressive shock setup (small positive large negative chamber), however you achieve it, to get the most out of the suspension design!

My completely non-catalogue spec alu 140 (low standover and BB for the time), surges forward and accelerates like no other bike I’ve ridden. It’s well balanced on jumps, addictive and fun to ride. It does get me into trouble every now and again when I come steaming into things way too fast and gives a little ground on the roughest rock gardens compared to longer wheelbase bikes.

FFS I’ve clapped outside my holiday home (tilted the blind) what more do ya want.

My NHS uniform/pub jacket (green jacket with NHS patch) has come in very useful, like my WW2 medals and tramp disguise! The gang master said I done good like.

It’s all “our” and “we” now isn’t it.

Pay-em/resource-em right and don’t **** them around with half-arsed, rationed, mend & make do equipment and vapourware hospitals.

I prefer the generic older one’s with the rounded corners and better seals. Mine have been battered for years and are still going strong!

    eXotic and Moove still sell-em.

Ingoldmells just for the used dildos that wash up on the beach. Happened in Italy too but it’s a bit pretentious that place, no Sky Sports or Stella on draft like.

Don’t forget your stance. This boy has nailed the STW aesthetic to a tee. The hair (now a skullet), those stacked heels, the keenly pressed jeans with pin sharp crease.

You can almost smell the heady mix of melted Crocs, Hai Karate, old leather, damp canvas and mildew caravan.

Not tried the RL damper but I have both a Sweep Roughcut and Mattoc Pro. I was surprised to find I prefer the Sweep to the Mattoc, as the mid stroke holds up better (mid stroke on the Mattoc feels like it chokes or binds) and can be dialled in easier with less loss of small bump compliance as you ramp up the HSC to deal with bigger hits. The downside is it’s quite a noisy fork (the Sweep) on the rebound stroke, but it’s kind of reassuring as you can here how busy it is during fast rough sections!

IMO upgrade if the price is right.

Watched a lot of mediocre/average stuff lately. Of the ones that I didn’t fall asleep through:

    I Am Mother
    Mother
    Prospect
    Joker
    The Lighthouse
Paradise Hills (A missed opportunity. The reveal and ending should have been much darker and unpalatable without the silly fairy tale villain, Buffy like teen series feel, shame)

    Will be watching:

    Tigers Are Not Afraid
    Midsommar
    Inheritance
    Greener Grass
    Rojo
    The Cave

Best recentish comedy series IMO is Motherland.

Shouting at strangers in the street, stalking them online and trying to start an internet mob

Classic gammon tactics. Add in bait and escalate, death and tears. You can see why they have been left to it on the bragging and outrage networks, which are now a tabloid style sewer, infested with all the same problems they have brought to the real world.

Let-em argue night and day in circles, til they are bright red and purple with moral indignation, that elevates them to better than all the scum as they see it.

Internet mob/thought police LOL tragic and funny!

Made me realise how many people have bikes stashed away in garages that under normal circumstances never get any use.

Good time to buff-up and build, trails that is.

Won’t appeal to the masses on here I’m sure but always loved the intro to this

There ain’t a consensus on any music stuff, you knaa!

Exactamundo. Post what you want preferably within the threads criteria but not always. It’s not a court of law, just a forum and some music based back and forth. A bit of clever subversion usually goes down well!

Can I just say I love threads like this.
