It’s also worth remembering that they think we are the ****** morons. I’m really not happy with pandering to them for another decade but I’m totally open to new ideas on his to deal with them

It’s funny isn’t it how two generations of **** have voted, decade after decade for falling behind, stunted growth and lack of progress based upon recommendations by the RW press. Their well nurtured ideological leanings have delivered a UK that has barely moved on from many of the problems from the 70’s. Even Spain a country these **** used to mock as backward is more modern and better run than the UK.

It’s very big of them to mock anyone younger than them as naïve and absolve themselves of responsibility their ideological leanings have delivered by saying they have been lied to/it’s just a personnel problem.

    Austria are everything England aren’t

Let’s face it on current form I wouldn’t fancy them to beat Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic or Switzerland. I think Turkey could give us trouble, never mind the top teams.

If they **** this up (seems unlikely) and place 2nd they face Germany it’s game over. If 3rd it could be Portugal or one of teams all on 3 points. At least I think that’s how it goes!

Anyway we need to win the group for the best draw.

TBF to RS the Super Deluxe does seem a big improvement over the woeful Monarch.

Don’t rule out Manitou air shocks. They are good quality and have a wide tuning window. I like my Mcleod. It was pretty cheap, works well and has proved to be reliable, 5 years in!

This is the posh version of the Mcleod:

it’s just a fig-leaf used by many to cover themselves

Absolutely. The we are always right voters who strangely enough always pick the winning side the rags told them too. Once again the poor buggers have been conned by slimy politicians, who’d of thought it? Keeps happening doesn’t it!?!

Some good saves at both ends

Of all the things! The goalkeeping has been exceptional at this tournament (so far) and has had a big impact on score lines and results.

England have got a relatively easy run into the quarters. **** me do we need it! As soon as we play any of the decent teams we are out.

It’s been much repeated on here but never has a government got elected and then moved left, always to the right

Once the dust has settled on a Labour win get ready for the right-wing backlash. Remember British voters are so arrogant and see themselves as right about everything all along. They will be lapping up the not right-wing enough narrative fed to them by the press. Give it five years of Labour (yet again failing to deliver for working people) getting savaged by the right-wing press, who will point it out at every opportunity and they will be ready for a BNP light fronted by the right person!

This (and some other social media platforms) are the only places I hear clamouring for a green socialist future, I just don’t hear it anywhere out there in real life! You can thank Just Stop Oil, social media know-it-alls and money grabbing councils for seeing the greens pushed further down the agenda. People don’t want to be shamed, chastised, then fined and restricted going about their day-today lives and will vote accordingly.

Cheap as chips remember them days eh :D

A lot of things seem to have gone stupid now. I look around at less fashionable businesses (non American brands, things not backed by social media trends) and there’s a lot that look deserted most days of the week. Looks like there’s going to be another shit load going under.

IMO there’s not much point getting a heavy 140 travel bike that uses the same forks supplied with 160+ travel bikes!

It’s become fashionable on the internet to say weight doesn’t matter but it does, especially when it comes to the frame. You can load a lighter frame up with heavier components/tyres without it getting ridiculous, therefore you have got more freedom to choose/accept heavier components and maybe benefit from increased durability/better performance.

Farage to win a seat, some mentalist like Badenoch to become Tory leader post election, then when that falls apart, Farage to defect to Tories and become leader…..what a terrifying thought

I doubt anyone remembers but I made a similar joke on here years ago about little rocket man, Trump and Boris in the same room and look what happened!

    @sharkattack

Nah it’s just a repeat of a rant dating back to about 2015 and my expression of years of exasperation.

I was running DH and 60tpi casings on a trail bike way back then and lamented the fact it was impossible to buy tyres in the most useful combinations. Not because the technology didn’t exist, because tyre manufactures didn’t want to make them and were quite happy churning out the same shit nobody asked for. Although much has improved we are still having the same conversations in 2024, they have been dragged kicking and screaming all the way!

Wait…….. we can take the wire bead out :( —-thscvlabarg8*^$%”!$%&*&!!!!!!??????????

People will buy dual ply and thicker carcasses, not just for “Training” or DH. One of the brands used to call them training tyres, as opposed to the racing paper versions with a single 120 ply. One whiff of rock would induce at least four snakebites! Now they be Trail or Enduro at much higher prices :D

Wait…….. people want soft compounds attached to lighter carcasses, madness madness I tell thee yyouoouuooooo vnjkljacva;jvanjscnv;ajsvnal;jvvjanvjfpaefp’rfvamauitateo;nununununununununununuqo’jopa’agoibna;l;?lzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Who wants to bet they initially launch the stickiest compound only with the heaviest casings and the fastest with the lightest, instead of what we’d really like on front and rear

TBH the fact the big brands dragged their feet (not just tyres) and got away with knocking out garbage year-on-year, which has only been settled/corrected in the last few years beggars belief.

Looks like a wider spaced Assguy

Nah it’s a different tread pattern. Although as some have said it’s nothing like it’s predecessor which was predominantly used as a faster rolling rear.

If you want an Assegai alternative there’s Vee Tire Attack HPL, which actually looks a good quality tyre. Never seen one out on the trails though, maybe you do in the states I don’t know!

    blame woke lefties

Mad isn’t it how woke lefties/Marxists are to blame for everything yet haven’t been in charge of anything, even at a local level as long as I’ve been alive. So much damage with so little/non-existent power, what an amazing supernatural force!

Anyway according to the voters who actually vote, yeah cantankerous old **** the problem is it’s not been right-wing enough.

The average British voter off to the polling station.

Was going to say it’s got to be FSA. Won’t touch-em with a barge pole!

I helped a mate spec a custom build a few years back. The only thing he speced himself was FSA cranks, cheap off fleabay (facepalm) I said to him, just look up the cost of replacement chainrings! At the time you could buy a whole Shimano crankset for the same price as one NW chainring and replacement NW chainrings could be as low as eight quid for Shimano 104 BCD!

Beware tops made from recycled Polyester. It has recently (the last few years) become widely used. The fibre is not robust enough for MTB usage. I’ve had three (all made of recycled Polyester from three different brands) in last couple of years and they all looked **** after a few rides. Both a Nukeproof and Endura top developed pulls after the first wear. Even the seatbelt in my van roughs up the fabric leaving a white haze across it where it has abraded!

Buyer beware and all that. It’s hardly a secret Polyester is one of the least abrasion resistant fibres available for use in outdoor clothing!

Yes of course you can and I regularly use them to do ball joints. I do have a modified pair where I cut down the threaded rod, because when fully wound down the rod would hit strut tops. So in other words access can be tricky with some vehicles, obviously some being worse than others.

Bare in mind separating some ball joints (especially when you don’t want to damage the seal like with a pickle fork) can be PITA, when jacked up and without the standing height workshop levers! Also some are impossible to do without dropping the sub frame!

Never had a problem using my spring compressors. They are nice heavy forged ones with juicy threaded rods which will out last me!

Nope. UK suppliers didn’t even stock air filters before Brexit.

It’s actually improved since then, again nothing to do with Brexit.

Sound advice, although a little outdated. Pumps are too small these days

It’s best practice to have your nunchucks frame mounted along side your night vision goggles when out on manoeuvres.

Should people maybe say what bike/travel they’re running as well so there’s some sort of context

More importantly whether it’s an Ebike and/or just used for uplifts smashing out DH laps.

There’s a big difference to pedalling around getting on for 3kg of the heaviest tyres on sale with softest compounds when you have got a motor/uplift to back it up!

Maxxis have their own shop, I’ve bought a few when there’s a sale. There was a sale recently, don’t know whether it’s still going or includes the tyres you’re after!

    As mentioned Merlin are alright.

TBH I don’t buy DHR2 because they are hardly ever a reasonable price, same with the new Contis. I think a lot of people have simplified their tyre buying by just running DHR2 front and back, hence they can sell them all day long at the highest price.
