    Leeds has Scud Racer

Yeah but he doesn’t have a Daytona 2 at any of his arcades!?!

Leeds has got a Namco Starblade, two player Sega Rally 3, a rare two player Sega Vitual On and Sega House of the Dead 4.

Not seen Andy for years! Was going to badger him to get a two player Sega Outrigger with stick & trackball controller (rare as **** even in Japan) and JJ squawkers. He had a Sega Radical Riders but I’m not sure where it went!

The F355 Challenge (a difficult arcade racer) is at Blackpool!

    Not everywhere is tatty!

Obviously there are plenty of manicured parks and events for public consumption. Not all are equal though.

Edit: We are not talking rewilding either.

Just avoid buying stuff from china as much as you can, with the added bonus of not experiencing this kind of dilemma

    Yes and no.

I stick to buying from proven Chinese brands (that sell well in their home market) or from companies who make stuff for western brands. There’s plenty of decent stuff amongst all the horrific tat.

Same as the last time this came up. Not bought anything from them since the boy Ashley took over.

there were a handful of posters who had worked out exactly where the line was and were masters at dancing on the knife edge.  And they knew it.  Always pushing at boundaries but never quite going far enough for us to issue a ban without being inconsistent in our moderation

Don’t be coy let’s have full list of names past and present.

The irony of a few years old Range Rover Evoke (not to mention the latest versions of my van awaiting repair for diesel emission problems) failing it’s emissions test for the third time, while my 20 year old van was on the ramps and passed (Bosch EGR) with ease as it always does! My friend the MOT tester said it would pass the latest emission standards, yet I get to pay the top rate of tax because my vehicle is the planet/baby killer extraordinaire.

I’m still using 2007. Did have 2010 installed (lent the disk out never to return) at one point. The GUI matched W10 better and it’s a bit less clunky in places but TBH I don’t really care it does mostly the same things!

Nothing wrong with Libreoffice I’ve used it alongside or instead of MS products.

If you need the most up-to-date versions for work it’s a different story but most average home users only need basic functionally that’s been around for decades or more.

Somebody will be along to tell you old versions will blow up in your face and burn your house down (who views porn through MS Word anyway!) If you’re not a complete numpty it works fine IME.

    @DrP

Same spring comps I’ve got. Laser if I remember right, nothing special but solid!

I’ve even been a bit naughty and skipped the taking the disc off the hub part if it only needs jacking up a bit. Not warped one yet, although I wouldn’t recommend it as standard practice!

The thing that amused me most with all this repeating American political nonsense, spread via American social media platforms like Facebook. Is the people who repeat it are the same one’s who criticise young people for being naïve and spending too much time on social media. I’ve had British people talk to me about Dr Fauci like I’m supposed to give a **** what goes on in America, a country both me and them have nothing to do with or any control over :D

As soon as these daft bastards got chance to rule a platform, they politicised it, took great pleasure in curating glossy public images, following it up with a bit of showing off. All the things they derided these shallow and superficial younger people for :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD dickheads and then some!

Almost feels like stealing it for the £169 a lot of us paid

That’s got to be CRC closing down sale.

I’ve usually paid around the 200 quid mark for various hardcore hardtails. Looking at some of the prices now I wouldn’t bother. Around 400-900 for a boneshaker, I don’t care how fancy your gussets are just no!

Edit – Those Bird frames on sale look a bit more realistic

I can do it pretty quick as I have to do it on a regular basis as me and my partner ride our HT requiring male and female seat changes. There’s a knack. You sort of push the wedge thing with one hand and wiggle and tilt the saddle/seat upward to release one side. Can’t beat a bit of repetition!

I carry a tiny 1/4 socket set (Bahco) which has an extension bar and wobble bit holder that makes life easier. With my multitool it’s torture!

I’ve been lucky with Shimano brakes thus far but on tonight’s ride the front 2 pot was honking like good-en (it’s dry) so it looks like I might have a micro leak cursed set FFS….

If you have two different calipers you need to carry two sets of spare pads.

People are still carrying spare pads right?

    Well there is that.

Thanks for the reminder I forgot to buy some.

The first time I was relatively satisfied (nothings perfect) with MTB brakes was my last set of XT M8000 (moved to another bike) matched to rotors I’m using in this setup.

IME a 200mm front rotor with Shimano servowave is pretty grabby (even with 2 pots) and I wouldn’t want it anymore grabby hence I didn’t go for 220.

I think there is some merit in this setup for Shimano users who have bikes with 200 F and 180 R (pretty common) who like steep, rooty, wet trails, where aggressive front braking would have you washout or OTB. It’s the best setup I’ve run so far!

Just to be clear I am not dismissing the fact changing rotors to larger one’s makes the biggest difference, that wasn’t my goal. I’m after better brake control in the steeps where aggressive front braking isn’t an option. With Shimano brakes and the biggest rotors it comes with a penalty of an even more on/off feel.

I’m no fan of JSO and think their methods have turned a lot of people you need on side against the environmental movement.

Five years though, Jeezus **** H Christ that’s disproportionate to say the least. It’s an old fashioned do as you’re **** told or else, make an example to show the rest of them!

    Just thought I’d report back.

Well as predicted the difference isn’t dramatic but I’ve found no downsides so will be sticking with it. Seems a bit better on steep slippy off-piste stuff where rear brake bias is needed for control but for everything else I can’t tell the difference!

For me some kind of HT with basic 1×10 gearing and other durable unfussy build kit, a well sealed rear hub is a must. Whatever front suspension travel suits where you mostly ride. Some decent mud guards that fit the bike well and I don’t mean gigantic commuter type things. Tyres toothy ones for mud!

I’d also go for a light but robust frame (which will most likely be Alu) as it’s going to be a relatively heavy build. In winter when it’s slow going a reasonable weight helps to make it feel a bit less of a chore. Let’s face it morale is everything in winter!

Decent waterproof clothing you can hose off and mistreat without falling to bits goes without saying.

Anglesets match nicely with a corresponding 10-20mm increase in fork travel.

I’m running SLX 2 pot front with 200 rotor and 4 pot rear with 180 rotor. Yes I set it up this way on purpose!

Works well, plenty of power I like it.

T^hat worked really well with the post war tower blocks of council housing

The majority of the council housing was decent and to at the time unprecedented standards of size and provision of outdoor space. As is usual in this country, it was later interpreted differently, intentionally undermined, subjected to endless budget cuts and in some areas there was an element of ****-em it’s for poor scumbags so any old shit will do!

Political decisions have delivered the private sector effectively providing public housing (terraced house and flats for rent) in a similar fashion to how it was pre-war/Victorian era. You’d have thought we had learnt from the resultant widespread poverty, ill-health and exploitation, which working class people of the time objected to and demanded change! It was begrudgingly adjusted post-war up until the 70’s, winding down in the 80’s and into reverse from the 90’s to date.

Absurd idea that will entrench inequality and disproportionately affect the poor and the disabled.  and lead to increased illhealth as people avoid going to the doctor

Yeah but people who can afford it will have access to more appointments. Every small businessman I’ve ever met see’s it like this!

That’s how we do things in the UK. Stitch-ups backed by the shifty little turds who benefit from it telling any and every lie to try and get it over the line.

Every one of them is 3 and 4 bedroom detatched ‘Executive’ houses with starting prices that are absolutely out of the reach of all but a tiny minority

Don’t forget developers when providing a small percentage of so called affordable housing did so with tiny units, bedsits and the like, which were still unaffordable. Not suitable for anything other then single occupants/couples and just went into rental portfolios of the over 50’s who could afford them.

There are businesses who vet customers based on spending power and what suits them.

Here’s a few examples from the hospitality industry I’ve come across. Restaurants consisting of four/multi seat tables give preference to people booking a full table. You have no chance of booking a table for two on Friday or Saturday night. Nightclubs who let female customers in for free/give them a free drink. Some B&B owners turn away customers who only need a single nights stay based upon it not being worth their time to clean the room for a single nights income.

Where opportunism is being met with opportunism i.e. spread booking to ensure you get something on a busy night I have no sympathy. Most restaurants/pubs allocate a small number of tables (the worst tables next to the toilets etc) for walk-ins!

Just a cursory glance at the images on Shimano’s website. The only differences I can see between the cages for M6100, M7100, M8100 and M9100 are the cutouts and profiling to make it lighter on higher spec models. I’ve often used jockey wheels off lower end versions, including Road, even though they are not shown as compatible. The only difference being the cutouts and bearings for XTR!

It MAY (I don’t know for sure) be possible to fit a cage from XTR, XT or Deore assuming they are not just as bad! I have bought the front and back plates that make up a cage from SJS and JE James before now.

Before one of the forum smart arses pipes up there is a caveat here. It’s obviously not possible where mechs are a completely different design between spec levels or have a different tooth count, as was the case with some of the older designs. You could probably get to the bottom of that by looking at Shimanos schematics.

Five bites on one calf and three on other was the worst I’ve had (fixing a puncture). All got infected and pumped out yellow liquid. Red hot and swelled up like balloons. Proper painful when all the fluid worked it’s way down into my feet (felt like they were going to burst) and I couldn’t walk, flu and wheezing symptoms just to add to the fun and games. One of my calves is still bigger than the other years later!

I’d happily see every last one of them exterminated.
