Sort of. Drive a bit slower, cruise a bit more, not done as many trail centres as I usually would.

Recent South Wales trip was extortionately expensive for what it is.

Arm pump day 1 and shattered quads day 2. The best combo what a weekend you’re going to have!

You want a 10% refund from BMCC for that bit of push up after the drop off point!

Maybe start a thread about bitterness and resentment

There’s no shortage of them already.

If you want to gob off or sneer why not take out a subscription to support the platform you’re using to express your ‘opinions’.

Coming from you I’ll take it.

Not sorry to see the posers go back to whatever they were doing before panic buying and stockpiling everything. Love nothing more than seeing the GO Pros disappear back to a drawer when they realise how slow/bad the footage looks and that showing off won’t be as easy as first imagined!

Echo everything said above and add it’s a completely different experience to BPW and all the better for it.

Speed and flow are the name of the game at BMCC. You have to let off the brakes, trust how well built it is (massive scooped berms), really lean in (feels like you’re pulling G) and pump to get the best out of it! For a northerner like me it’s a refreshing change as we have no shortage of awkward steep tech trails.

The roughest track there is experienced in the uplift trailer!

That must be a whole weight of chips plus salt, vinegar & mayo, off of your shoulder.

Hope you feel better now 🙂

    – Which bit stung the most? The grey in gunmetal, oh wait no it was the working class part wasn’t it.

I occasionally like to embrace the oh so Great British banter but really meaning it, you know it’s all harmless fun isn’t it.

The last one of these idiots we had out on a ride with us, we left in the middle of the peak district fannying around with his drone and doing selfies for insta. Ah the folly of youth, except he was in his forties, a boy in a mans body with money to throw at all and every hobby.

Decathlon have been knocking out decent 3 layer jackets, not sold for MTB but suitable fit, that MTB brands charge at least double for in 2.5 layer or even bin bag form!

The prices have gone up and up, so not as good deal as they once were!

I’m not an STW rich guy with a portfolio of stocks and shares but we’re not exactly on the bread line.

You forgot the matching gunmetal grey Audi S5 (crackle mapped) and VW van on 20 inch alloys on the new estate. Don’t want the neighbours thinking you work in hospitality or do manual labour with mismatched vehicles on the drive. Go on poverty safaris and can’t afford a Disney+ subscription.

Let’s face it the working class snobs are a worse kind of modern day Hyacinth Bucket. Small minded corporate sycophants, up their own arses to the point of licking the bottom of their lungs. Social media bullshitters that show off with things they have bought or free swag to promote their brand and boost their ego.

Not surprised there’s been a few nasty offs given how fast and flowy it is. Amongst the fastest berms I’ve been round.

I’m used to pump tracks BMX tracks etc but on a mountain bike sometimes you really have to wring it’s neck to get the most out, not on this track though. If you have pumped everything you are absolutely flying by the mid section and it’s just about how much bottle you’ve got!

1×10 wide range with rad cage has been the best drivetrain I’ve run. Was a mistake selling it on!

The standard 11 speed mechs I run now (one on 10 speed the other full 11) aren’t as robust and need fettling more often.

    Get one if you can!

Invited to a BBQ (didn’t go), some parties here and there. I’m not into this cap doffing fawning nonsense…..although time off work is always welcome!

Decided to mostly ride my bike. **** me that Steel City DH track is rapid, felt like I was pullin G in the berms!

I’ve banged on about this problem for a while. I noticed it when aftermarket wide range cassettes first came out. I found 11 speed (XT and SLX) Shimano mechs much more fragile than 10 speed on the same cassettes. I posted about running 11 speed mechs on 10 speed years back when it was a new thing! You can bend and twist the cages with hand pressure, the metal is so soft (not fit for purpose IMO) and as mentioned the cages are curved and contoured, making it PITA to get them straight once bent. I’ve split cages and banged the two halves flat with a hammer in the past!

Those CNC’d Rad Cage mods were great on 10 speed mechs. Made a real difference to the robustness of the cage, stiffened it right up. The best most bulletproof (wide range 1×10) setup I’ve run to date. Only had to deal with bent hangers and corroded cables **** indexing up!

I can imagine how the meeting with the remaining energy providers went, after the other little admin operations jacked it in.

Industry spokesperson: It’s like this, you let us charge what we want, when we want, or **** it, it’s all yours.

Government spokesperson: Oh err mmmm yes we will remove the price cap. Is two months time an acceptable compromise so we don’t look like we completely rolled over.

Braunton/Croyde/Saunton. These places have got busier and busier over the years. Absolutely bombed out with lifestyle vehicles!

Not Westward Ho or Barnstable (shithole) though. Is Crabby Dicks (funny name that’s about it) still there?

Sounds odd. You sure you are not attempting to set it ridiculously slow. I set mine by feel. Obviously the rebound stroke should be slower than just rebounding straight back (fastest fully open setting). I pick a fast rough track with loads of successive chatter and hits and set it so doesn’t feel like a jackhammer, then forget about it!

Forks IMO are better a bit fast, 1 or 2 clicks extra at most. The opposite for rear shocks, especially for jumping where fast rebound equals scorpion death.

You say planted so err on the side of a bit slower i.e. 1-2 clicks slower than ideal. Don’t go mad or it will pack down with rapid successive hits, whilst feeling great on mellow trails!

I mostly build from the frame up so know it’s been done right.

Never picked up a pre-built bike that hasn’t needed at the very least a few tweaks. Always check things are tight, lined up, not rubbing, gears, brakes etc. BSO’s and cheaper bikes usually have at least one bent/warped chainring, cables too long/setup badly and other issues IME.

Got a Cube Stereo frame that has a well documented issue with dry main pivot bolts from the factory. Once blue thread locked in, it causes no problems, so yeah on a brand new frame!

1×10 Shimano with Radcage, Sunrace wide range cassette (you can go all steel) has been the most bulletproof and best value setup I’ve had to date. Win win!

All my drivetrains take an absolute pasting and the mechs look battered after a few months riding.

I’ve found Shimano 11sp (XT and SLX) mech cages get bent out of shape far too easily for some reason!

We are slowly getting more Whistler type trails which you previously had to travel abroad for. The market is clearly there and the older risk adverse places (which TBF often have their hands tied) XC loops and the like will get less and less traffic. Some TC’s feel like a bit of a non-event that never really get going. Like they were built by contractors who couldn’t give two **** and certainly not tested to see if they work well. That new flat jump section at Degla with no run in, what were they thinking!?! Not to mention some of the jump size and placement on the Black is odd, against conventions, the run of the trail and can cause massive over and under jumps within a set, especially for noob riders.

There’s unofficial trails near me that have boner logs to gap landings and it’s not even a well known MTB hot spot, although it has got a lot busier! This is what new intakes want to build/ride/learn to ride.

    Times are a changing.

Cheap shit that doesn’t do what is supposedly designed to do

Trouble is there’s lots of stuff (especially for MTB) that isn’t cheap but piss takingly shit quality!

I can vouch for this one from Decathlon Poncho 500 Seems to strike a nice balance of price quality and has got those side holes, so you can take your shorts/undies/whatever off with ease.

Remember you can always use the longest part of the Allen key and put a spanner on it!

    chestercopperpot

The hex is inside the hub (shine a torch down the hole, you will see the keyed edges). You need a Allen key the right size, which is also long enough! I think the one I did was 10mm.

If you want to dissemble the freehub itself, you have to bodge a tool to go in them slots. It’s easier to gut a brand new hub (cheap to buy) and use all new parts (most importantly the freehub seal which lets water in after years of use), that’s what I did!
