    Nice one the right result.

Just sell it then now it’s all sorted

TBH I would be inclined to boot it on, if the backends are susceptible to twisting. Especially if it hasn’t happened due to a crash or doing tricks badly on big jumps!

Whoa there boy what’s this “gravel biking” you are on about.

DOA fantastic forum, the best, some proper wags on that one though!

Can’t remember the forum where they used to (probably still do) out do each other with granny porn and other disturbing things. There was no moderation or censorship at all. It was a bear pit but surprisingly friendly if you could handle the humour!

I’m more amused at the fact that a sign of wealth these days is to turn the heating up to full blast!

    I know **** peasants.

Have you got a link to buy said cashmere codpiece?

Hold tight rude boy there will be a STW discount code for the Least Weasel size.

    Hope it gets sorted.

Let us all know how it turns out!

Think you lot will enjoy this. At least they pay some taxes eh. I dare say that’s a prerequisite of North sea oil extraction so it doesn’t look really really bad!

Anything other than a Monarch. They are probably the worst shocks for tolerating sideloading and one of the most unreliable basic monoshocks from the big brands.

Looking at the misalignment, not much is going to handle that in the long run. I’m always a bit wary of those shuttle link type bikes, if the stays aren’t cross braced or the shuttle/linkage isn’t a beefy forged piece.

Can the misalignment be easily sorted, a rear triangle assembly error/missing spacer for example?

When superhero’s coming out of the inside of mountains/volcanos, a cave/underground lair, futuristic airborne carrier, space base, undersea base was replaced by an office and board meeting setup you knew your “nerd culture” had been sold out.

American corporates own all culture now. Their message is simple, anyone/you can buy into this experience.

Some on here will be trimming their cloth to a Cashmere cod piece, while strutting around with the curtains open and heating on full blast.

People are stupid*, that was the first thing I learned as an engineer

Despite the fact people are advised/common knowledge (it’s even part of the driving test) to keep oil topped up using the dipstick and when the oil light warning light comes on (if it’s working) they still manage to damage/seize engines speaks volumes.

    Idiots always find a way.

AFAIK the top part of the suspension post runs on a plastic bushing. Bushings are self lubricating and should be dry. The internal sliding parts (brass keys and keyways) need grease. A bit of Teflon spray helps on those shiny stanchion parts!

    Igus

If dirt is getting past the seal then the seal might be **** and if the post is dragging on the bush it needs replacing, they do get damaged and/or wear out. In your case dirt has probably got dragged past the seal suspended in the grease you put there!

Terrifying when they go at the front like that S-Works above. Unlike the S-Works at least the headtube stayed on this Saracen!

Like most things vehicles have been engineered by clever people for your average idiot to use.

The dipstick usually only measures a fraction of the sumps capacity (typically 4-5 litres) so idiots are less likely to let them run dry.

No one goes out of their way to explain this, as said idiots would then use the oil light (there’s still some oil left) as an indicator of when to add oil, such is the nature of people!

I assumed it wouldn’t (thick to thin) but have heard of people running some 10 speed components for 11 speed where tolerances aren’t tight.

The advice lifted from Cotic above is the sort of thing that creates confusion and is best ignored. Although he is right about older RS forks being overdamped.

There’s always been this desire to get a fork that feels buttery smooth when cruising flow trails, but that becomes bottomless when getting big air

Absolutely it’s the holy grail. Or to put it in more STW terms, a plush bridleway bashing setup that works for bike park jumps and drops. Most people run very soft suspension because it gives confidence when riding small chatter (humans are very sensitive to vibrations) and most people judge how good suspension is off that alone! The trouble is, with a nice plush bridleway setup, you will find when hitting a jump spot it’s way too soft/sluggish and you bottom out all the time. They’re two extremes and there is no suspension product that can be super plush on chatter, yet hard enough to handle big air/hard landings without adjustment between the two activities or compromise. Modern trails (rough with sizable features/DH) demand this holy grail setup. In recent years we have generally got better out of the box tuning windows from the big names. Don’t expect miracles though you can’t have it all in one setting without compromise. Some forks have a narrower tuning window and better/worse damping characteristics than others!

IMO below Lyrics/upgraded Yaris you’re better served by a Mattoc Pro or Sweep HLR which can usually be picked up cheaper than some basic models of RS forks.

Spain has built infrastructure over the last 25 years that we have not. They have benefits that are far higher. There are many fewer people in poverty and none of that is goung to disappear

Our public services are utter shite compared to western europe. Get those anglo centric rose tinted glasses of and see the reality.

Absolutely. And to think some British people used to call it a backward country!

The problem with the UK is housing is extortionately expensive for tiny shitboxes. Everything is played out and has been milked to death. Even areas that were considered shitholes are expensive. Anything the least bit nice or in a semi nice area is crazy money. Anything cheap is snapped up for renting by people who benefitted from the housing market rises of the last 40 years, most notably the late nineties early 2000’s period, which were nothing to do with entrepreneurial spirit as many like to portray it. Add to that the imported labour which has flooded into working class areas (obviously not the nicer bits) to occupy said rental properties/low quality housing and you can understand the anger. The private sector has been used to provide public housing, so the government can absolve itself of responsibility and associated costs, whilst at the same time damaging the fabric of working class areas.

The circle has been broken. We have be sold a mickey of shit wages for workers, rising costs to bolster private sector profit margins, unprecedented levels of public money handed over to the private sector, expensive small low quality housing with transient scum neighbours, who couldn’t give a flying **** about community and the areas they live in.

The people who have benefitted keep telling us how wonderful it all is, the virtue of work, how they love their jobs and their neighbourhood isn’t at all like that. The turncoats have been instrumental in **** us over for their own financial gain, are usually at arms length and sheltered from the majority of the consequences.

    Do it.

It’s more a case of (or it was for me!) where you notice a difference. Bikes down to about 67 degrees felt quite similar to steeper angled bikes. When you get below 66-65.5 they feel better/safer on very steep trails and when counter steering drifts. It’s a subtle, not drastic difference, unless you have gone from one extreme to the other and back to back tested it on specific terrain which highlights the difference!

Yes to what I guess is an intermediate level. Love it in fact can’t get enough!

I am lucky to have a few progressive jump spots nearish to me which helps.

One of the best jumps to practice on is at Leeds urban bike park. There’s a table under the trees next to the bridge jump line, which takes no skill and can be hit as hard as you dare. Can be landed to flat when you get faster/better without consequences. Then on to the bigger stuff and sets that need more technique!

If you’re jumping an FS bike, suspension setup is important. Your average soft baggy trail setup really doesn’t help. It will make your bike sluggish and hard work to get off the ground at all, without high speeds and brute force. Try a FS bike and compare it to a HT/rigid on a proper pump/BMX track, it’s like night and day!

Fast rebound on rear shocks equals scorpion OTB. Combine it with a high seat and/or stopping the back wheel with your arse (29’ers are worse for this) and you have signed your own death warrant!

Often see threads asking for winter flats on here – these look to be a bargain –

Bare in mind the Semenuk’s have a different sole and shank stiffness, are less padded than Culverts. Culverts are both stiffer and stickier (the stickiest sole Etnies do). In other words they are good if you are looking for a shoe more like a Freerider EPS with a bit less pedal grip.

Bin done years ago in web page format with pictures and videos.

    Monkeyspoon

There’s also a three part video someone did with most, not all the main legit descents.

    Peak District Descents

The thing is some of the best trails/tracks in the Peak are barely tolerated and it’s likely to upset people if you draw even more attention to some of them!

Whilst it’s funny I can’t help but feel the commentary/mocking doesn’t change anything. Is brushed off and quickly forgot about while the continuous feeds get most people back on the agenda, the agenda and theatre they want to talk about rather than what needs to be addressed.

Obviously the upcoming energy dry **** will make some people sit up and take notice for a while, until it’s back to business as usual keeping the plebs fighting for diminishing scraps!

Never paid more than 32 quid for Magic Mary Soft, Shorty 3c Maxx Tera, DHF’s 3c Maxx Terra and Wild Enduros. Although the prices keep getting bumped a few quid each time!

Bontrager, Hutchinson and Continental have comprehensive ranges of good quality tyres. CST, MSC, Panaracer and the likes are not the easiest to get hold of in the UK. With that said there is plenty of choice without having to buy plastic shitters or tyres with wafer thin soft top layers.

DHR’s and Assagais (due to popularity) in useable configurations are much harder to get for reasonable prices!

I would bet most of the pads come out of a tiny handful of manufacturing facilities!

In the vehicle world Ferodo knock out pads under a myriad of brand names and specs (ATE girling etc) from the same facility in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Is the browser back function not working (when going back to the Chat/Bike page from a thread) a feature, a bug or a browser setup issue?

Almost forgot now they are retired it’s all good for everyone else to be forced to retire later/never as people are fitter now!

The last civil servant in charge of the department who instigated raising the retirement age, retired early on 100 and odd grand a year pension.

Go to Uni on grants then take it away for the following generations, all seems a bit of stitch up to me.
