I separate stouts and porters into the traditional smokey/coffee tasting and varieties with added flavour (usually fruit) which there is a bit of weird snobbery about.
Anyway as far as easy to get from a supermarket, I can vouch for:
Guinness West Indies Porter (already mentioned and at 6% ABV it’s got one foot in stout territory)
Saltaire Triple Chocolate Stout
Youngs Double Chocolate Stout
Shepherd Neame Milk Stout
Fullers Black Cab
Not as easy to get:
Brew York Imperial Tonkoko
Bollington Brewery Oat Mill Stout
BrewDog Tactical Nuclear Penguin
Some of the nicest I’ve ever had, I can’t remember the names of :D Imperial, pistachio, hazelnut and cherry stouts, ooommmh lush!!!
chestercopperpotFree MemberMy business idea is to market one at parents to buy for their kids that contains Valium
Good market huge market.
I’ll go 30/70 with you but it must be marketed as KidChillax. I’ve got loads of innovative ideas, gel impregnated dummies that slowly release the magic elixir over a few days. For the most difficult and trying cases a more permanent solution called Golden Silence.
chestercopperpotFree MemberIt’s abundantly clear TJ could give Rees-Mogg a run for his money in the top filibuster stakes and could have an argument in an empty room ;)
chestercopperpotFree MemberThe first smoking ban definitely accelerated the closure of pubs across the country and this proposal will finish off the remainders that are limping along. Those that don’t have much outdoor space, can’t become family restaurant venues that also serve alcohol and those in locations with poor footfall/premises in secondary and tertiary areas of towns and cites.
It pushed loads of old hands/tenants out of the industry and fueled the already predatory behaviour of chain pubs stitching up new tenants with onerous leases doomed to failure for all but the most exceptional tenants!
chestercopperpotFree MemberNotice how these pantomime tough decisions never actually involve tough decisions
And always involve taking something away/making it cost more.
chestercopperpotFree MemberThis has got to be one of the most stupid and economically inept moves by a new government ever. We are talking sub-Tory levels of schooling here
Got to agree.
If the rational is to make it means tested like other benefits (gammons love restrictions on dole payments and wouldn’t tolerate it being handed out arbitrarily), you could argue/stress, it’s fairer, ensuring the money gets into the hands of those most in need. Instead it looks like booting poor pensioners in the balls/slats just in time for the now annual and much loved winter price hike announcement by the government on the energy industries behalf.
chestercopperpotFree MemberHmmm it’s an odd one to go after as a matter of urgency.
The outside smoking thing not being a big public health issue on it’s own, what with ciggy smoke quickly diffusing in air. I think you pretty much have to blow it up peoples noses or directly into their mouths (who does that to a stranger in an outdoor public setting) for there to be a serious risk of illness from passive inhalation. In a confined space different story of course!
chestercopperpotFree MemberThere’s loads I can think of which haven’t been mentioned. Once on social media the desperate for likes (think they are a brand) cock noses will make videos and hype prices to silly levels so I’m out.
chestercopperpotFree MemberI assume the OP has been added to the list!
I’ve got various Camelback Podium bottles that were purchased in sales. Although decent there is no way I would pay the RidiculousRetailPrice for them.
chestercopperpotFree MemberI don’t even think they’ve misjudged the traditional core audience, I just think they don’t care about them anymore and they only want new viewers that they’re trying to entice with the new format
Exactly it’s being converted into yet another corporate product for the consumption of admin worker wallopers who trip over a jet ski in the garage, land on a paddleboard and all the other abandoned detritus from equipment sports they got bored of and/or realised they were/are shit at.
chestercopperpotFree MemberDoesn’t everyone just have house shoes/trainers retired from frontline use!?!
Or am I doing this all wrong. Should I have hand crafted buffalo hide fur lined things, some kind of designer camping slipper from a consumer outdoor brand or shudder the Crocs of despair.
chestercopperpotFree MemberFWIW the original Nanos were yet another rebadged HT, I think you ca still buy them under that name and maybe also under Exotic? Only the more recent ones were inhouse.
ANS01 if I’m not mistaken. Although, by the looks of it, the design has been further refined (ribbed for her pleasure) since then and costs more.
The SS in-house Nanos (X, Evo X and Evo 2.0) had a larger squarer platform (thinner metal) and went through bushings faster. At least the first X iteration did! The service kits have ceramic rather than standard metal bushings, which last longer. Later revisions (Evo X and Evo 2.0) may have been fitted with ceramic from the factory. TBH I can’t remember, I’m sure one version did though!
I think the only criticism of the original design was the platform size, which isn’t suitable for bigger feet and obviously there are other designs with more pins/pin configurations. Personally I liked the rounded corners and chamfered edges. Could be my imagination, but they seemed to shrug off strikes really well and the pedals themselves could take years of battering. I’ve got a pair that look like they have been through a war but still spin smoothly on the original axles, bearings and bushings.
chestercopperpotFree MemberOnce in about 8 years on my own bikes but twice or three times on other peoples.
I’ve got a Kamasa multitool. Similar design to the Birzman posted at the top of this page. It cost a tenner, it’s all metal and small so why not.
chestercopperpotFree MemberArseholes that piss all over a toilet seat
It’s a Beta passive aggressive thing. Living in a household ruled by women, it’s their little act of rebellion, pissing on the seat where there’s no danger of the wife’s wrath ;)
3chestercopperpotFree MemberI’m picking up some serious FOMO vibes coming from Chestercopperpot
U wot mate. I’m watching Nunchuck BMX Polo and MX Jousting on the laser internet, who’s **** missing out now then?
I can sort ya an install and affiliate link if you send nudes of ur mom and sister, dig the old gurl up if need be ;)
chestercopperpotFree MemberIt’s sold out to an American broadcaster like many sports I used to watch that went to SKY.
You see people justifying 50-100% sub increases and then a year later justifying it again! It looks as though these corporations have got the measure of people just right, no principles and will stump up no matter what. It’s no wonder prices of everything have gone through the roof, middlemen demand fees on top of every transaction and renting everything has been pushed as the only option. People are idiots as proven during the pandemic. Panic buying and paying over the odds for the latest BMW’s etc just in case they miss out on the latest model.
There has been a concerted effort to stifle any criticism of big corporations and create a sympathetic sycophantic environment on social media. Brainwashing people into thinking they are a brand or could be a brand in the future and how cool/lucrative it all is.
chestercopperpotFree MemberFunn Fundamental for me. Similar to DMR Vaults and a slight upgrade over the original bulletproof SS Nano/eXotic/Moove, with an extra pin at the front (6 front 5 rear) and grease ports for the bushings on the end of the axels.
I paid 45 quid. I doubt you can get them that cheap anymore!
chestercopperpotFree MemberIs it any good on the Dreamcast? I’ve got 4 regular DC controllers. Does it need a special controller?
Yes it’s a great 4 player spilt screen (poor single player though) and no it doesn’t need a special controller. For FPS games (Outrigger can be third of first person view, you can choose) on DC you can usually set the controls so the face buttons do Fwd, L, R, Rev and the analogue stick does look/camera movement. It works surprisingly well! The arcade machine had a joystick for character movement and trackball for look/moving the camera around.
It’s exactly what consoles should excel at but don’t anymore! DC had some outstanding 4 and 2 player split screen games for it’s time. It can output 480p which helps these old machines still look alright on modern displays!
If you’re into shumps Border Down for DC (single player) still stands up and isn’t easy to find in arcades or anywhere else for that matter. You can DL ISO’s for all the games so it’s not much of risk if you don’t like them.
2chestercopperpotFree MemberThought it was standard for STWer’s to find an old jetski, paddleboard, surf board, scuba gear, RC car/helicopter/plane/boat, about a grands worth of subwoofer. Not to mention enough brand new spares to build up at least one bike with Lyric forks.
chestercopperpotFree Memberjust watching window fitters lifting big heavy units wearing only white trainers
A mate of mine went to pick-up some units from a wholesalers and was unfortunate enough to time it right to catch the skulls in action. He ended up applying a tourniquet to the dumb tweed who cut his forearm down to the bone spurting his blood all over the shop. Held the job right up!
chestercopperpotFree MemberSomeone showed me the social media wanksters “guerrilla marketing” expecting me to be impressed. I’m not going now.
This load of American look-at-me errugh sick in my mouth cringe tossers
chestercopperpotFree MemberYeah it’s rare now.
Did a thread years ago about the benefits of 1x wide range and never looked back. I reckon it’s the right answer for most peoples MTB usage, with a few exceptions of course!
Then again I am not one of those gung-ho/**** yeah/internet **** let’s cancel everything else to boost my ego types.
chestercopperpotFree MemberI’d take Ridgid in the US/AEG in Europe over Ryobi all day long and in some cases over Makita and DeWalt. Some of their top tier range has outperformed Milwaukee equivalents in recent years!
chestercopperpotFree MemberWell there you go point proven. Here it is on this weeks Friday Fails #328.
Caning it then bucked to oblivion. Which one of you lot was it?
To think the jump has been reshaped twice, it used to be worse!
chestercopperpotFree MemberI liked a Milwaukee 4″ grinder as it had a dead mans switch
Yes they are a joy to use, especially in confided spaces.
My old corded Erbauer rarely gets a look-in anymore, the ferocious little bugger it is!
chestercopperpotFree MemberNever thought I hear 80’s drum machine toms done so tastefully, if that’s even possible :D
chestercopperpotFree MemberMake sure the activates are relentless, physically demanding and their little feet don’t touch the ground to meal and bed times!
chestercopperpotFree MemberPlus you will have a spare when you next send it away for service ;)
chestercopperpotFree MemberMilking the cash cow or in Hollywood speak reaching a new audience, something something reimagined.
With that being said I will most likely go and see it :D
1chestercopperpotFree Membermay I suggest that, if you want to make these constant little digs at a group based upon them being (percieved as) mostly middle to upper-middle class, STW might not be the least awkward place to do so.
Let’s not beat about the bush. STW is the epitome of middle class conformism and corporate sycophancy.
Nothing stokes more ire than Intellectual Property theft or a bricked up window in a conservation area.
1chestercopperpotFree MemberFYI the first jump from the top start hut, after the drops is the cause of many having to take an early bath at A&E. It’s no where near the biggest most daunting feature, but probably the most dangerous for first-timers in the park! You come barrelling into it off the drops and can get bucked to oblivion if you’re not ready, as the takeoff is surprisingly abrupt and the landing way too small.
When you get the hang of it, you can either brake check and land on the downslope or **** it, pull up and boom it to flat. There is a better option of taking the bigger left-hand jump line, which although bigger rides better!
chestercopperpotFree MemberRed Faction
Twisted Metal Black
Extermination
Nitro Bike
Project Snowblind
2chestercopperpotFree MemberAnyone who is desperate for approval of retail buying decisions from strangers on the internet is either shilling or needs help.
chestercopperpotFree MemberGood on ya. It’s funny how well built big features (as long as you have the bollocks and speed for it) can be easier to ride than much smaller badly built features!
Glad to see Revs back in the game, was my favorite UK bike park followed by Dirt Farm (genuinely amazing what they have done with a relatively small hill) and Dyfi.
1chestercopperpotFree MemberThe line of jumps in the car park is great for practising, I probably spent about 45mins just there, determined to make that double cleanly before going home… didn’t quite manage, but got much better overall. Some of the people there just make it look so effortless.
Take a slightly longer run up. Skim/squash the first three small tables/lumps. The third little table is key, you need to land it perfectly on the downslope to get a crank in before the double. With a reasonable pop you will clear it and cruise on to overshoot all but one of the rest of the jumps!
Edit: Most people seem to hang about on the jumps, the surfaced tracks and less so the woods. You sort of need two different suspension setups to ride both optimally. Rock hard for the jumps and much softer for the DH tracks.
chestercopperpotFree MemberRiders are faster because they pump, pedal and pickup/gap the bike where you just plough through.
What you can do is what most of the wheels-on-the-ground bridleway bashers do. Run as much of the softest plushest suspension you can, on the longest slackest bike. So at least your bike handles all the rough shit you’re ploughing through and gives you a touch more confidence to leave off the brakes!
chestercopperpotFree MemberFor me it was more a case of noticing a lot maintenance not getting done during the pandemic for obvious reasons and me thinking it would go back to normal. This hasn’t been the case with many local authorities taking full advantage to turn it into further budget cuts on top of the already shoddy run, skeleton shift, shambles, can’t wait to fine people given any opportunity we have foisted on us by our wonderful governments.
Nobody voted for it or asked for it.
Fly tipping has got worse because the government has allowed private sector operators (a few years back now) to use bouncers at tips (introduction of permits) restricting access. They have made the problem worse and we get to pick up the pieces and shoulder the burden, sound familiar!?!
1chestercopperpotFree MemberF355 was at Bury first then went so must have been moved there, quite enjoyable as different to most racers
It was I had most of the track records on it.
My brother tried it. His review “it’s shit” :D seems to be most peoples experience of it. After a few corners most give up and go play (Out Run) something easier. You’d often see the machine abandoned with the car in a gravel pit and the timer counting down!
Scud Racer is great not played Sega Touring Cars.
I’d argue 4 player Outrigger is one of the best arcade multiplayer experiences going. Shame no one has heard of it and it’s so rare even though Naomi cabinets are modular and probably the least rare cabs you can buy!
Some added maturity!
