Been a few times (multinational company, so don’t get a choice).

Notwithstanding the politics, it’s a pretty decent place to be, especially if you’re in a hotel on the seafront, which is not cheap. As above, I wouldn’t take the buses, but have used taxis without any issues. £100 a night won’t get you much.

I also really like the food. It’s a vibrant, young country, which is a change from the UK (again, politics aside – seen some idiots flaunting M16s in Arab areas – I know it’s their country, but some common sense wouldn’t go amiss).

I have a sixth of a vote, but my parents 10 miles away have just over one each!

I base it on truth. There’s clinics been running in London I believe.

I would love to know what’s in the IV solutions. The mind boggles.

40+ donations here. I reckon it takes a week to fully recover. Feels like a lack of fitness for a few days afterwards.

My activities show up on Garmin Connect as soon as the sync is complete. Strava takes a few seconds after that. Not sure how this helps, but at least it’s a data point.

Must get round to placing an ad!

Me too. Got a set of feet for an old Saab 93. Used the same bars for four cars with different foot packs. Happily the feet from two cars ago fit the current car.

Only used Thule so nothing constructive to add, sorry.

I’ve had the Olympus Mju-tough for a while. Takes good pictures underwater, and OK pictures above water, especially if the light is good.

Can’t say I’ve ever worried about immersing it. Just chuck it to the kids when they’re in the pool or sea on holiday (always get a few odd looks).

I have the float strap as well, just in case I let go whilst we’re on a lake or similar.

Amusingly, tyreinflators.co.uk and co2cartridges.co.uk are the same people….

    Best use them then :-)

One car was bought new from savings, and was around 7% of our combined annual income (it is a very small car though).

Other car was bought at 1 year old/20k miles, and was around 20% of our combined annual income. Paid for half with savings/trade-in, and half with a three year loan. Loan is covered by car allowance from work. Normally I buy another 1 year old car at the end of the three years, but am debating keeping the current one for much longer.

Been a few times, and stayed in a villa each time, on the basis that we’d eat out each night anyway, and the extra space and private pool would be good for our sanity.

Top tip for Disney is to get your FastPass+ set-up on your tickets before you go. You can schedule three major rides per day in advance, plus on-site restaurants (which get full at lunchtime inevitably, so this is vital for an air conditioned sit-down – food is generally very average in Disney though). The iOS or Android app (parks have free wifi) tracks waiting times, so is pretty useful to have. Disney penalises the disorganised.

Universal is better than Disney IMO, but doesn’t have the FastPass+ system (unless you pay through the nose). The Harry Potter area is rammed in the morning, but really quietens down by evening. Apps for waiting times also useful.

Attraction Tickets Direct are who we’ve used for tickets. Next day delivery.

If the temp in the garage is lower than the cut in temp for the fridge, then neither the fridge or the freezer are being chilled. So the stuff in the freezer will defrost

Freezer in garage OK, but generally not fridge freezer.

Worst bit – the small of bacon as they cauterise the tubes…

All female team for me too. Too old to be embarrassed though. Pretty much pain free, and no infection. No regrets.

My mate had a severe temperature a few days after his. Thankfully he actually had flu rather than an infection down there.

Old Saab 9-3 (99 vintage ish).
If you left the lights on (as I did at the airport once) and the battery is flat, you can’t open the doors, and therefore couldn’t open the bonnet to charge the battery. The key in the door lock operated a switch which operated a motor, which needed power.

I guess it’s hard to steal, but the AA were seriously thinking about getting some charge through the reverse switch on the gearbox. Eventually with his “collection of random bits of wire” he managed to hook onto the bonnet release cable.

My previous car (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe) had no RDS on the radio. FFS, my Cavalier in the early 90s had RDS….

Wife had the heated screen in her Ford C-Max. Start engine, press front and rear heated screen buttons, clear side windows with scraper, front and rear now clear. Drive off. Really liked it.

Now need to scrape all the windows. Not a big deal, and it all stays clear once warmed up.

Oddly, my car has a heating element at the base of the windscreen where the wipers sit.

5ft9 here, and gradually eased up to 110kg 10 years or so ago. Combination of happy marriage with lots of evenings in, evenings out etc. Stressful job with little opportunity (or motivation) to exercise.

Health scare about 10 years ago – sudden palsy affected my arm and face, but disappeared before the ambulance arrived. Wife extremely worried.

Bought a bike, cut out the crisps and chocolate (mostly) and dropped 5 stone in about 2-3 years. Still around 76kg, and much happier.

Have kept a pair of the size 42 waist trousers just to keep me motivated.

Another TePe user here. Use every day (except when a bit tipsy), and now can’t stand to go to bed without using them. You’ve just reminded me to buy some new ones.

Did have gum issues, but got told by dentist last time that “I wasn’t going to help pay for her skiing holiday”, which was nice.

Pay some of it on the credit card as then you are covered by it if something goes wrong with the car!

This – I’d pay the deposit on credit card – needs to be over £100 I think

I’m using four Devolo Powerline adapters. Mix of versions, some with dual ethernet port (for desktop with network printer next to it), single port (PS4 and router) and single port with WiFi (office).

    All working well.

    EDIT:
The office unit is currently plugged into an old router next to me, so I can run some equipment over VNC

Have driven standard front wheel drive cars in Germany, Canada and Sweden with winter tyres, and on one occasion on studded tyres. Winter tyres just work really well on snow and would probably be my preferred option. Studded tyres are incredible, but illegal in most places (and really noisy on tarmac). However, as someone else has said, everyone in front of you needs to have winter tyres for the traffic to move.

On the other hand, I have a 4WD with standard tyres, and the traction is excellent on snow (even hard packed). I suspect it’s the smart differential rather than the 4WD itself that helps most. When a wheel starts to spin, it stops, and the drive is sent to the other wheels. However, I am really careful when cornering and (especially) braking, as the 4WD doesn’t help here. I have pretty new tyres, and they’re not stupid low profile jobs.

Also using a Dell Latitude E7440. Light, metal case, great battery life and an SSD.

No experience of other makes, we just get pretty much what we’re given, but it’s the best laptop I’ve had.

Legally you can tow up to the maximum braked towing weight for the car. However, general guidelines are that you should only tow up to 85% of the kerbweight of the car.

For example, the manual version of my car has a braked towing limit of 2500kg, but the kerbweight is 1915kg. It can legally tow 2500kg, but general advice is to keep to below about 1630kg (which is still a substantial caravan). If you’re an experienced tower, then you can go higher, but it’s unwise to exceed the kerbweight of the car.

As above – good point on the post-1997 test

Don’t do what my mate did and smack his scar on the saddle about a week after the op. His bits were apparently a beautiful shade of purple for many weeks afterwards (not that he showed me, nor did I want to look).

I was running after a week (with plenty of support) and riding on the road after two weeks. No complications or infections though.

Tights here too. A thin pair for <12 degrees or so, and a thicker pair for <5 degrees.

Just ordered a pair of winter boots too. I hate having cold legs and feet.

My boy has one of those Rockriders from last year. Changed the pedals and it rides really well, especially for the money. Would happily ride round on it.

Can’t help on sizing, sorry. He’s 13 and rides a small.

I’ve had the Mio Link for about 8 months. Seems to read high at the start of a run/ride but settles down after that. No real mechanism to wear out, so I’m confident it will last.

Works well with my Garmin Forerunner 220.

It is fairly pricey, but like the OP, I got sick of replacing straps.

Oddly, my wife and daughter’s new passports just arrived at lunchtime today.

Applied online before Christmas, and posted the declaration and photos on the 31st December (surprisingly little paperwork).

Not bad considering there was a bank holiday in the middle. Nothing complex though, just renewals.

Good luck to all, worrying times. Hope you get the best possible outcomes.

These days, I print off my questions and even if the conversation has already covered them, I make a point of going back through them before I leave to make sure I have understood what I’ve been told.

Wise words. Inside Health program on Radio 4 recently mentioned that people only remembered about a third of what was said during a consultation.

Found a wallet whilst out running this week. Driving license inside, so returned to owner. Karma doesn’t really come into it – I’d hope other people would do the same for me, and hopefully the owner will have a better Christmas. Lost a couple of phones over the years, always returned.

Working up until lunchtime on Christmas Eve. Could take holiday, but a bit pointless as it’ll be dead anyway. Then off until 5th January, as is my entire industry, so no getting back to 300+ e-mails, which is always nice.
