Get it checked out. You may well find it’s just a sprain but you’d be mad to take a chance.

Blimey! I’ve got two sets of those in regular use 😐

Joysticks are overpriced and underpowered IMO. I’ve used XML torches in the past and they were much better and a tenth of the price. I now have an mtb batteries Lumenator, which is excellent.

I am a hardtail fanboi. I’ve has full sus bikes and still have one for Alps, etc but they take the edge off local riding for me. I like that direct connection with the trail and direct transfer of leg input you get from a hardtail.

I dare say if I lived somewhere rocky the equation would be different.

Everybody *needs* at least two bikes.

But if I was building a bike on a super-tight budget it would be a rigid SS.

Cheapest: Just watch the classifieds on here. You’ll get a bargain as long as you’re in no rush and you don’t have fixed ideas about your spec.

Otherwise it’s going to be a question of looking for bargains on Rose, bike discount.de, Merlin On-One and CRC, etc

Another vote for the On-One Superlight stem. Good quality, v light and good price

Citizen cane – how did you lose so much weight on those? Granny tabs, excess on the other tabs but what else?

I had a huge goose land right in front of me on the high street in rush hour. I missed it but white van man didn’t. It got up looking very confused and wandered off, looking in various shop windows wait went, like it was trying to choose a present for a friend.

I’m using a CM on the front of my Buzzard and I’m properly impressed. It’s fairly weighty but it’s a big, tough tyre. Went up pretty easily on a Flow rim – might have needed the 9p inflator but tbh I can’t remember. Incredible value.

Ah, thanks for the tips. Anyone know if either of those kits includes the o-ring I need?

Slice of Hovis best of both. Fry it up for an extra protein hit at breakfast.

Can’t explain it but I’m drawn to the weird ‘pre-crashed’ looks of the El Guapo

roverpig, I know what you’re saying but you’ll never be truly happy till you have a Buzzard 😆

Anyone else had poorly tensioned Hope hoops? My 29er Crests pinged like mad when first ridden and the back wheel needs a complete rebuild after about three months. My SS wheel sets were much better

The misplaced guide is way down by the bb and doesn’t show. I run mine 1×9 so can’t can’t say much about front mechs apart from that the Problem Solvers direct mount is nicely made and it should be easy to set up. You would end up with three cables bunched together if you ran a dropper remote as well. Not ideal but doable.

There’s so much wildlife around at dusk and I love that you can inadvertently creep up on it on a bike and both get a surprise. 8)

Interesting, toys19. Not that I understood any of it but it backs up my non-scientific gut instinct.

If all else fails and you’re really bothered, get a professional carpet cleaner in. I have a mate who does it and the results are impressive.

The Pegasus looks lovely. So does the Niner but it’s plastic, which is just not quite as special IMO

Well, it sounds like my local riding and preserve few are much like yours. I’ve got a Buzzard and I’m 100% confident it’s more ‘fun’ than the more XC-orientated alternatives (I have an SS Inbred 29er for that stuff). I’ve yet to ride it on a full-day epic but I reckon it would be fine. Top tube is short but doesn’t really feel it with the wide bars the bike deserves.

If you lean more towards the fun side of the compromise then I think your best options are Canfield, 2Souls, Honzo, Taro, Buzzard, that new Niner and the Cromag. Have I missed any?

I ordered some wheels off him about six months ago. Took about ten days IIRC, arrived within a couple of days of chasing by email. Given the price, I was happy.
