Kinda surprised so many people use the back button – seems like a painfully slow way to surf

oh aye, coz a lil squeeze on the mouse bottom thumb button is like, such hard work.

note the sequence of beeps and google bios beep codes.

also, remove and remount your RAM sticks, they can move with heat/cool cycle and cause loose connections.

slightly off topic, but what would the world be like if we hadn’t had the war?

i regularly drill 16mm holes in masonary bricks, concrete etc with a sds cordless. no probs.

drill a 6 or 8mm pilot hole first to ease the pressure on the chisel point of the 16mm. wont be so difficult then. you dont need a bigger diameter pilot as all the pressure is taken by the chisel point

take your time, with plenty of ‘in and out’ to clear the dust.

    easy peasy.

    isn’t learning about ourselves interesting?

when we do something a little different from the way we thought was the best or correct way, just to discover we were doing it wrong all along!

i like some of the tag suggestions and think some fun options would be a boost.
i would also like a couple of extra categories for users.. ‘Bikes Stolen’ ‘Bikes Found’ ‘Tyres’ plus a ‘member since’ and ‘post count’ would be good.

a ‘like’ and ‘dislike’ button would also be useful.

However, i suspect from the tone of the admins/mods already on this thread that its a foregone conclusion that there will be no changes, in case a delicate flower flouncemails the admins.

how ’bout a trial of some of the suggestions then get some feedback?

press the ‘like’ button if you agree*

    *oh shit, you can’t.

i like the argument debate over which forum i was referring to! i see what you did there!

Forming my thoughts a little more clearly, i guess what im trying to say is that ‘freedom of expression’ appears to me to have been stifled somewhat.. people are thinking twice about what they are submitting.

I’m all for banning out right abusers and racists and trolls etc, but a lot of people on here are ‘characters’ whose opinions are widely known and take part in the banter with a good nature and probably accept that they will get comeback if they post things to provoke reaction.

We are all adults and should know when to speak and when to keep quiet and withdraw from a debate. i know this is not the case with some and when mods close threads i guess people generally know to ‘move on’.
That for me should be enough for arguers.

I can see that the forum ‘watchers’ i.e those who look but don’t post, will always be there. Many may now be tempted to post now that the bans are here. However, what attracted people here in the first place?

I for one enjoy the ‘life’ and ‘verve’ that this forum has even though there are a few spoilers.
Having run a couple of forums myself (not big), for me, its not the pretty format or the watchers that form its character, but the CONTRIBUTORS.

Mounty, if the speed is up and down, maybe you have an intermittent line fault?
Plug in a WIRED phone into your main socket (with the faceplate removed) and listen for crackly/ buzzy noise. (try it without router/ filter plugged in also)
Does your phone ring once and stop yet someone there?
Does the SYNCH drop when the phone rings?
Does the synch drop when you have been talking on the phone for a while?
Is the problem more noticeable with weather/ temp conditions?
How simple is your internal wiring?
Do you know how to look at your router admin page to check your connected speeds?
What are your neighbours connecting at? (assuming you are on speaking terms etc! 🙂 )

edit – I generally remove these third party ‘booster’ faceplates if I come across them. If you have simple internal wiring and no internal/external bell, these offer no benefit.

    Tom

I did exactly that, i got my CBT and then a Yamaha YBR125* to get used to the whole motorbike thing (as I’d never ridden before).

125 was great fun, 200miles per £8 and i gained a lot of confidence in my abilities to handle the weight, speed etc (compared to a push bike!)

Overall, it took me a couple of years to pass my ‘big bike’ test, but i was in no rush, choosing to feel ‘ready’ to step up to the bigger class. My thought was that i needed to get some good miles under my belt before trying bigger bikes. I’m glad I did.

Take no notice of the idiots who say ‘go get a proper licence, big bike, spend loads, blah blah, do what you feel is right, what you can afford, take your time and be safe while having fun.

    * I was recommended to stay away from cheap ‘chinese’ brands of smaller bike as they can be prone to problems, falling apart etc. good advice tbh, i bought the yammy and got my money back once i upgraded.
