I quite like a bit of fashion, the way it changes and morphs with the times. Not just clothing fashion but fashion in architecture, cars, bikes, the way we speak, hell even politics can be said to follow fashions. It’s our culture speaking back to us.

Setting a limit when going out to the pub doesn’t usually work for me. All too easy to have one “for the road” (I don’t mean driving). That one can easily lead to several more as I get a proper taste for it and different people I know turn up etc.

A lot of us used to manually drop saddles for descending before droppers came along. It was a pain in the ass so droppers are a godsend.
Top tip – Try dropping the saddle right down for any long tarmac descents especially after a tiring climb – for luxury swooping, it’s ace.

Earlier this year I found a lovely ammonite fossil on the beach at Saltburn. It fits nicely in my palm. It blows my mind to imagine that little creature swimming around about 150 million years ago.

I’m a bit worried that passengers in automated cars will get even more frustrated by cyclists than they are at present and will also have more capability to physically and verbally abuse riders when their speed is automatically reduced behind them.
