Strava = the biggest threat to mountainbiking in Britain. Unfortunately the geanie is out of the bottle and it wont go back in. A symptom of the Me Me Me and sod everyone else culture. Expect spoiled trails and the closure of those nice woods you have ridden quietly for years with no complaints. If you want to race, enter one. If you want to beat your mates score get a playstation or something.Just take a mental snapshot of how things were pre Strava for your future reference in a couple of years time before you forget. What I mean is its plain selfish.

This kind of action can and will happen again in many similar pieces of woodland all over the country if trailbulders dont know when to stop. Keep it very low key and in keeping with the environment and you will have a chance.

I organised a mass walkout from primary school at afternoon playtime. It is amazing how many kids followed me out. We all got in trouble and I wasnt singled out as the leader so It was OK

Strava is gonna have a lot to answer for before long. Already accused of sraightening trails, endangering cheeky and now snapping steerers. Seriously people are going to get badly broken.

Have you tried to wheelie drop it? You dont need to be great at wheelies, just keep your front wheel up long enough to not go in. Drop front wheel on far lip, shift weight forward, pedal.

Your route is very doable and a good one.
Start in Brighouse by canal allong to Elland Woods, through there (bluebell fest at the mo) short stretch on canal to salterhebble, take road towards west vale, cut into northdean woods, climb up and follow top edge, follow lanes and road to norland, cross moor. Consult map as to your best way down to Ripponden, several good options. Take bridleways up Ryeburn valley and over moors to top end of crag vale (or go down stake lane to mytholmroyd if you like)crag vale – stoodley various options which you can see on the map. From Stoodley take your pick of ways down to the canal and back to Brighouse. Or head over to stairs lane and ogden moor and some road back to brighouse.
I might be up for the ride if you let me know when

For me the novelty of watching MTB vids has worn off leaving me bored with most of them. That’s me though. I admit to enjoying the more extreme end of the spectrum though (watching not doing!)

    More wiggles = more riding.
Ride as fast as you can/want to but you should respect the trail.
Straigtening and cutting changes the whole character of a trail i.e. dumbing down. Environmental impact is also really important, especially in cheeky situations, some people don’t seem to know or care that they are risking their playgrounds being closed to them. The best trails are less than 1 ft wide in my opinion.

So in theory you could get as pissed as you like and the car will bring you home safely. Result
Then sleep your way to work in the morning. Result
If it can drive its self you could use it for uplifts and it would be along to pick you up at the bottom of the trail. Result.

Lots of climbers hate abseiling and for good reason, lots of them die that way through gear failure, innatention to detail, anchor failure, rockfall etc.
It is more dangerous that the actual climbing.
