Got my rigid SS Cannondale 2 Summers ago now and gradually upgraded with better brakes, chain, freehub and crankset. It is now pretty bombproof and I love mashing it up and down dale. Great for full body workout/cardio/weight loss. the old 5 spot hardly gets a look in these days, it feels like a heavy spongy sofa coming off the SS.
When I needed a midlife crisis car 19 years ago I had to have a Mk1 Lotus Elise. It was a joy until I could no longer afford to keep it, servicing, insurance etc. Would not tick boxes C and D but you might get a high mileage Mk1 for under 10K (probs knackered tho)
I use an old pair of varifocals with elasticated retainer round the head. They are good enough for riding in and when they get plastered with rain or mud I just hang them down and do without. Same set up for climbing and yoga (not the mud bit). You wont have a old pair but get a 2 for 1, keep a pair for best and one for outdoors. By the way the 2 for 1 deals can end up being a bit more pricey than they 1st seem, what with fancy lenses and coatings etc. so be prepared for that.
I went to a few parties around Christmas and it seemed to be the older end folks who got up to dance, whilst the younger end didn’t bother unless they had seriously honed moves to bust, which I find a bit sad as the DJs were playing all sorts of tunes trying to get the floor rocking.
Frame thi’sen – get a move on
Also “Stop laikin’ about” – laiking = playing.
Or even – “Dont just sit there like cheese at fourpence”. Lancashire and Yorkshire, presumably originating when 4d was expensive for cheese!
It’s jobs for life at the BBC. The likes of Johnnie Walker and Tony Blackburn FFS should have been taken out and shot sacked when they were made obsolete in 1977.
A few questions around the subject of faith in a god:
What benefits does your faith give you?
Do you ever have doubts about your faith in god?
If your god made its’self visible and therefore proved its’existence once and for all would you then expect everyone to follow it?
If the god thing was proven to exist would it not defeat the concept of faith?
Is it just faith in something that you need?
I would vote for a national 4 day working week.
It would make us more productive and shift the balance away from money towards happiness as the measure of success/fullfilment.
Any political party with this manifesto would be elected IMO
