I was reminded of Oliver Cromwell’s speech to the Rump Parliament. I hadn’t realised just how resonant it is…

    20 April 1653

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place,

which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice.

Ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government.

Ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess?

Ye have no more religion than my horse. Gold is your God. Which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices?

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation. You were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, are yourselves become the greatest grievance.

Your country therefore calls upon me to cleanse this Augean stable, by putting a final period to your iniquitous proceedings in this House; and which by God’s help, and the strength he has given me, I am now come to do.

I command ye therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place.

Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!

Lots of the guys and gals from Rokt are using Freeklime in Huddersfield. Not the same as Rokt but a decent bouldering gym. Give it a try.

I love real books but now only buy a few that I have really enjoyed on Kindle. I like lending them out – when they come back.

The packaging and the tyre are marked as 26″ but the inner diameter is over 1″ bigger than the outside of the rim. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone for the cheapest available option.
I will take the wheel to a bike shop and see if they can sort me out without making me feel even more of an idiot. No way am I spending more bucks online.

OK so I bought a 26″ tyre but it’s miles too big in diameter to fit on my 26″ mountain bike wheel.
The outer diameter of the tyre is 26 but the tyre is shallower so the inner diameter is much larger than a MTB tyre and rim. So I have learned that 26″ wheels are actually much smaller than 26″. the 26 includes the tyre.
How do I go about getting the right sized tyre anybody??

There is no need to make a gimme connection, just any good music that will raise a smile and excite the lugs a bit, any genre but we’ve probably got Stodge Rock and Mouldy Ould Soul well represented for now ha ha!
Plus I have pledged to listen to it all so nothing longer than about 8 mins please.

Digby just raised a new question as opposed to brakes vs drivetrain…. How to go forwards, in reverse gear, without the engine turning backwards?

That’s where the conveyor belt comes in.

I didn’t get as far as the last 5 seconds. What I found funny about Romesh now seems dull and formulaic, for instance why does he always have to get his fat body out?

Our whole firm is on 4 day working due to lack of orders. About 6 weeks in and it is absolutely great for me, and most colleagues. Our family has 2 decent wages coming in so financially the drop in income is not putting us in any trouble. A 3 day weekend gives me time to get on with jobs and projects at home that I just can’t find time for in a normal weekend.I can do this stuff on Fridays and have a clear 2 day weekend without having to fit the rubbish jobs in. So many things are easier and quicker on a Friday than Saturday think haircuts and shopping in general, getting the car serviced, bank stuff.
It feels like I have my life back.

I agree with Chew, HX is a good place to drink if you keep away from the rowdy bits. The Cross Keys at Siddal on the edge of town is my favourite pub anywhere.
