This is not a spoon is correct (ish!)…epoxy is not great in tension.
Using CF rods with epoxy is like a hi-tech version of re-enforced concrete.
You take two materials with contrasting properties and together they are much stronger. I am sure if James May or Richard Hammond were here they could point you to a youtube interweb link to explain the theory.

Fill the steerer tube with a mix of two part epoxy and carbon fibre rods.
Use PVC electrical tape to seal the bottom of the steerer.
I used this method on some steel tent poles and they are stronger than new.
Of course its up to you to assess whether this is suitable for your application, but a steerer jammed solid with various diameter carbon rods and two part epoxy will be friggin strong.
I bought rods from model shop, and two part epoxy from there two.
I squirted both syringes of epoxy into a 50ml syringe to mix it. This way you waste none of it.

Cut your carbon first. Work out best combination of diameters to fill the steerer.

Theres a "mouse" at Flamingo land that is the same ride. German made with insane turns.
There is also a similar ride in Animal Kingdom florida, but not quite as brutal.

Busch gardens is the best place on the planet for roller coaster fans, never seen so many good ones in one place.
Universal Studios is the best if you want a combination of coaster/visual experience.

£1000 spent on bike bits is infinitely more satisfying than the same amount spent on cars or home improvements.

Gooner: I have a parking pass for Dalby and would be up for a trip.

As said above, do the red and add black bits on as you go round. Its good fun, but probably not nice after all this rain (quite free draining though so mebee next week).

I run all my bikes with presta tubes with an Alu presta/schraeder adapter on one of the wheels. That way I know my spare tubes will fit any rim and that I can use any pump without faffing to convert the innards.

The adapters were about £4 for 10 from ebay.

druidh, preaching to the converted mate! Thats why I have the Planet X frames and NOT the Moots or IF one! The PX frames have the important details, ie tube quality, weld quality, ovalised down tube etc, and skimp (if you can call it skimping?) on some of the pretty details that add a lot of machining cost.

rolf and benag, I think you are both exactly correct!
Some folk put more kudos onto brands like Merlin, litespeed etc and are willing to pay a premium for that.
Lynskey is a funny brand in its own right, I havn't really made my mind up about them. Their own frame designs (MTB and 29er) don't look as good for UK as the on-one (and ragley?) designed ones. Their road frames are exquisite, but I for the price I think I would might the kudos of IF or Moots?
Specifically on welds and attention to detail. There are no weld imperfections on either of my frames or any of the other PX ti frames i have seen. It is known that the dropouts are a cheaper version (slab cut Ti instead of fab cowled dropouts.
The weld quality is much better than either the Rock Lobster Ti that I have, or any Airborne frames that I ever saw when Halfords sold them.

As an owner of two of the frames (456 and sportive) I really don't think any less of the frames because of offers. And the frames are not skimped on weld quality or attention to detail.
It does make other brands look expensive, and as with any deep cut offer, if its repeated too often then customers (esp stingy Yorkshiremen like meself) will not buy UNLESS there is an offer on.

I have a 18-200VR and always get comments on size of lens.

    Until….

Went to Farne islands a month ago. Jeez theres some big lenses taken to those islands! Got talking to one guy with a Nikkor 400mm prime (about £4500 by all accounts!!) Wife had a look through it and went…wow thats amazing! It made the image from my 18-200 look like a cheap point and shoot!

So, while there is no prospect of me ever spending that much on a lens, the chief of the treasury does accept that there is better than my lens and accepts in principle that I can get a nice fat telephoto at some point in the future.

I know this doesn't help you choose. Can't remember the model, but there was one on Warehouse Express that was an f2.8 that looked interesting. But I think it wasn't SWM or VR.

I would go with standard non-slidy inbred frame. It's still pretty burly and has gussets in all the right places. I also think that slidy dropouts are not pretty (having just got a £99 29er with them).

    I ride an 18"
