This is bloody awful news. I met Ray on several occasions and always thought he was a top bloke who represented the best of on-one PX. The link to the Star article makes it even more tragic as I assumed it was an accident. Sincere thoughts and condolences to all that knew him.

Brilliant bikes for the money. Not the most organised bunch, but they do know their bikes (and their tea!). I have 3 bikes from PX/on-one and would happily go there next time.
I havn’t seen the nano in the flesh, but the regular carbon frames look MUCH better in real life than they do in pics. Some folk reckon there are to many logos on them.

how good is the folder sharing?
Could I have multiple folders each with different access lists?
(ps sorry should have made clear that was a referral link)

Only reason for posting it is that in the space of a week this has had a big positive effect on how and where I store my files. Also even the techno geeks at work and friends who I class as IT savvy had not come across dropbox before. N

Mick, the bike it lovely, and is exactly as I would choose to spec a touring bike. Sadly cash at the moment is not in abundance (new boiler last month!).
I already have a PX sportive, but your bike is brilliant.
If ever you see a fatty on a Ti bike heading from Harrogate to Crossgates via Wike and the ring road then give me a wave!
Sad to say, but I think you would get more for it as components rather than as a whole bike. Best of luck with the sale anyway.

25th March for UK. But not on main retailers to preorder yet.
There were some iPAD ones on the apple store for £289, nearly bought one of those instead, but they sold out.
I am not an apple fan, I have a HTC windows phone, and thats pretty good, but I do think that the whole Apple eco-syestem of apps and general support makes it unasailable for competitors. IF you can’t beat em, join em?

I went to my local RC model shop and bought some two part stuff (two tubes in tandem. It was about £4 and mended my tent poles brilliantly.

I had this job to do last autumn. Had 8 metres of drain from inspection pit back up to soil pipe backed up with unspeakable solids.
I bought a set of rods from wickes and cable tied the hosepipe to the end section to make my own improvised dyno rod!
Worked a treat…96 litres of poo and tissue later…

Why do girls use so much tissue?

Would have liked flash, SD card support and retina display but this is good enough for me to jump in as a customer.

So if we established that doing your own salt n vinegar is the correct and proper thing, lets get to the important stuff:

    COD or HADDOCK?

VEG OIL or MELTED COW for frying?

Molgrips: it doesn’t need 2 and a half times the crumple zone.
The mass of the car is not relevant if hitting a solid object. What matters is the rate of deceleration. If you hit a wall at 30mph and the car has 3 foot of crumple zone that is designed to take into account the weight of the car then it will put the same stresses onto the occupant in the crash as a car half the weight but with an equally balanced crumple zone.

RichPenny: Very very good point. I would much rather my kids be hit by a small car. I would also rather that everyone drove small light cars as that way everyone would be “equal” in a crash. However I balance this up against the fact that my sister in laws brother had a crash 20 years ago near Scarborough head on due to a blind dip in the road. He was in a fiat panda, the other driver in a vauxhall cavelier. The vauxhall driver walked away from the accident. My Sisters in laws brother now has more titanium in him than my bike! Like it or not big cars are safer in a crash, and though its a selfish view to take, people will want to protect their nearest and dearest. Sometimes that means that in a crash the other party comes out worse than you. Fair? No.

Theres some really sloppy physics being talked above.
Firstly if you hit an imovable object then the mass of the car does not matter. What does matter is the rate of deceleration felt by the occupants, and this is a factor of crumple zone.
Most injuries are caused by sudden deceleration of occupants (basically hitting stuff in the car or by seatbelts causing internal injuries.)
Many small cars have good crumple zones to allow protection against imovable objects. Larger cars have the advantage that they have more space to allow for crumple zone, and also due to the increase in mass the list of what is classed as “immovable” becomes much shorter!

I would much rather be in an XC90 in a head on or side impact crash than just about ANY other car. Have a look at crash tests on youtube to convince yourself.

Oh yes sturmey. Been there and it is good. Its the one with the little courtyard with benches out the front. Havn’t been for a few years, but will make a point of going next time we are in RHB (very soon!).

To bring this back the start of topic, I seem to remember they are VERY civilised and allow you to salt and vinegar to your own requirements?

sturmey, will give that a try! Do you have a postcode?

Also regarding Leeds fish and chips (and beyond) it is true that there are some sh1tholes doing soggy greasy chips, absolutely horrid.
For me it has to be Haddock, with a dark brown batter. Chunky well cooked chips. With scraps and fried in dripping. Anything less is not proper fish n dirks.

Never been impressed with Whitby fish n dirks. The place over the bridge on the abbey side is meant to be nice.
You can’t compare the Magpie as thats a fortune. The other chippies near the magpie I don’t get excited about.

Leeds has the best fish n dirks in the country. Try Coes in cross gates for a real treat. Skyliner in Colton is nice too (just off M1 near thorpe park hotel).

Always do my own salt n vinegar, scraps on first mind!

Ton, you are quite welcome to have a spin on my PX Sportive Ti if you want to test BB flex. Obviously since you are at least a smidge taller than me then it won’t fit you, but it might prove the point on flex.

(PS Hope you are a bit better mate, had meant to email, but crappness prevented).

Ah, Mastiles, not sure of name. You turn left, then right near the level crossing and the garage is sort of behind the Renault garage.
Never been to the garage, but one of the guys there sort of swapped cars with a colleague of mine after he put £50 of unleaded in a 525 BMW and drove from work to Selby and back before realising! One guy has a 525D BMW, the other now drives a diesel Bora!

Not sure of name, its near the level crossing between the back of that lovely tea factory and starbeck station. I tend to do all my own spannering unless its VERY major, so don’t use them myself.
Sounds like you have had a cheap “repair” anyway! phew!

I have a 1998 2.0CD V40. Currently on 165,000 miles with no major faults in the 8 years I have owned it. The cars are VERY well built and are based on a joint mitsubishi/ Volvo chassis (the later V50 is Focus based). I do all my own servicing and repair work and can vouch that these cars are VERY well screwed together and use good quality components.
I would echo what has been said that the phase II cars are better (you can tell this as they have a separate reflector for main beam and dipped beam). Though mine is a phase 1 and I am happy with it.
As for not enough space? How much do you need? The wheel arches protrude into the boot, but I have had a 3 seater IKEA sofa in the back of mine so thats enough for me.

I would also avoid the 1.6 engine as its woefully underpowered. Some later models use a mitsubishi GDi petrol engine. These are known to coke up really badly if oil service intervals are skimped on and lots of short journeys and crap fuel are used. However if you get a good GDi then MPG is good.

Spares are not the cheapest, but the quality is great. My car is still on its original exhaust after 13 years. I get major service items from FRF volvo in swansea.

If you want more info then email me or post on here.

    Volvo forum good too:
