Hope your wife is ok. Life takes some funny twists and can sometimes be a real sod. Best wishes.

satmap is good. OR the garmin 800.
However these days I don’t think I would buy either and would plump for an iPhone instead.

Oooouch, was that aimed at me. Appologies if i touched a nerve, it was meant in jest and wasn’t meant to be hairist or anything. My aged volvo estate is luvverly thanks, though these days mrs hb has taken it over and is now an ardent Volvo fan…more karen millen than grey cardie though.

oh you get used to the bear baiting numpties…just think of them like rustling crisp packets in a cinema. You can either get angry and confront it, or continue watching the movie and filter out the noise.

I bet you do have lovely hair though. Toupes these days are amazing.

My wife thinks all Audi drivers are wayne kerrs. I pointed out that I drive an A2. She says thats doesn’t count!
Lewis, parts sometimes fail. Parts also sometimes last 200,000miles. Its called MTBF. What you need is to MTFU.

New electric bike!! Wow interesting. Is it custom made conversion or off the shelf? There are some very powerful front wheel motors available and various voltage packs from 24v to 48v.

Sorry can’t help on the alfine.

monksie, sorry to hear your news. Crap happens, and we often beat ourselves up over the one small thing we COULD have done to avoid it. Most people on here treat it as a community of nice folk. Sadly some come on here just to argue like eejits. We need a forum area called CRECHE where the trolls and special people can go play while the adults talk nicely over a glass of chablis/pint landlord/council pop.

igm: Can you get your “boys” to sort out the substation behind the post office in Woodlesford. It sends out RF interference at 433mhz which means that getting my car alarm to disarm within 50M of it sometimes takes 1-2 minutes of trying. 😀

Thanks for the advice so far. Am surprised on here that no one has had one of these fitted in the west yorkshire area and can recommend an installer (FunkyMonkey excepted…Ta!).

I was reading up on it last night and there are a vast array of panel types and inverters and whatnot to choose from… more research needed.

Anyone else had a system fitted and happy with the installer and results?

igm… am sure i can find from Google what that means, but care to explain? (Bit new to this!).
Ton… to register for feed in tarif I need an accredited installer, so its back to my first question…anyone know any good installers? Ta

gwj, I was being vaguely self mocking there. Its funny how we write off huge areas as being inhabited by dossers/druggies and thugs.
I grew up in some of those areas, and though I have no desire to go back, I do appreciate its not all black and white in terms of good/bad.

Harehills, Gipton, Middleton, Burmantofts, Belle Isle…

Avoid all the above. Basically anywhere within a mile of st james hospital (and more in some directions) is not where you should be looking!

    Ah…MiddleClassWorld helps another customer.

wow…if anyone reading this has a similar size frame needing a home then you could make my daughter a very happy 10 year old. fantastic bike.

john, you cant write off huge areas like that. There are some nice bits to east leeds, crossgates, colton, whitkirk. And south leeds too has some lovely bits, Rothwell, woodlesford and garforth are all nice. West leeds (pudsey etc) are not my area of expertise, but give me seacroft over armley any day!
As said above you need to know the nice areas. Areas like beeston, gipton, halton moor, belle isle, harehills are all best avoided, but to be fair 30 seconds of driving in these areas makes it flippin obvious.

Have a look at Woodlesford. Two trains an hour and a ten minute journey to leeds. You have the canal and motorways near too. Crossgates and cookridge are pretty good value for money too, with excellent bus service into leeds. North leeds (Rodley in the west spanning to roundhay/shadwell and adel in the north east are supposedly the places to live, but you have to choose carefully. Leeds is a lovely city, but you really can go from posh to slum in half a mile…you have to know the city. I dont like chapple allerton as its too close to the drug areas.
Happy to help further if you need owt.

Tell us a bit more about who you are and what type of living and budget you have.
Ton, firestarter, gooner, me and a few other live in leeds and know it well. Happy to help if you can give us an idea of what yiu are after. Ed above lists all the places to avoid, particularly gipton.

First proper camera was a contax 167mt, sold on ebay this year. lovely build, obscure mount.
I am now on Nikon and plan to stay loyal. I went Nikon because at the time (2007) the D80 was much nicer ergonomically than the equilalent canon. Also with Nikon the wireless flash is amazing.

Tucker, semi appology there (are these allowed on STW).
The point I was trying to make is that using skewer tightness to adjust cone play is daft. Skewer tightness should be the constant factor with the hub adjustment being the variable. If the skewers are even close to snapping then they are either crap or tightened up by an inept gorrilla.

    CHB

    Try adjusting your hubs properly!
Removing bearing play with any skewer is daft.

There are some good diamond bargains to be had at the moment on Ebay.
With the recession on, lots is being sold off and often goes very cheaply. I got my wife a .39 carat VS1 good clarity solitaire ring set in 18ct gold for £200 a few months back (just after valentines!).
Also saw some half carat diamond earings and a .4 carat pendant sell as a job lot for £450. As said above, clarity and cut are key to value, some diamonds sparkle way better than others.

now to be fair Ton, its been parked there for 6 years. The lady that owns it has a lovely dog called Nell. I think she feeds the ducks too as our dog always tries to check for bread if I let her.

Missed the fact this was on. I have family links with Sri Lanka and have some sympathy for the government in that they needed to take a tough line with the Tigers, but this appears excessivly brutal.

We tend to use a cheap roasting joint from Sainsburys. chopped into small cubes its lovely.
Regarding chocolate, it needs to be dark chocolate, or simply use cocoa powder (not drinking chocolate).
A few whole milder chillies are nice too.

Also, fresh pics on the first link. Looks like the plod copter turned up too. I can just imagine the radio chatter:

Air ambulance: Guess where i managed to land?!
Plod copter: Easy, i can do that too!
