Are these the russian giant ones?
I have a few of these too for my allotment!

I would support child benefit being capped at two kids (not applied retrospectively) but ONLY if more funding went to schools to support directly the development, education and nutrition of kids who need the extra help.

Your post prompted me to Google a little deeper, as we do use more than average of this (we have two allotments).
Looks to me that if you work in heavy agriculture and use the stuff lots then you have an increased risk. German studies show no big increase or significant mutagenic properties.
So for me it’s business as usual. I use it infrequently and target very specific weeds.
Glad I don’t live in Newcastle…apparently the local council use more of the stuff than Islington do yellow line paint!

Personally I am more concerned about my addiction to bacon and preserved meat and the risk of cancer than I am about using a bit of Glyphosphate a few times a year.

Many things are carcinogenic in sufficient doses. As Drac says, don’t spray it on yourself, and don’t ingest it.
We use Rosate (same stuff) on our allotment and it’s epic stuff. Takes a couple of weeks to work, but very effective. No residual effect on the soil means you can plant out soon afterwards too!

There are plenty of kids who live in broken households with parents who neither have a clue of give a flying fig. The only way to break the cycle of depravation and low esteem and aspiration is for the state to make up for the inadequate parenting. Sadly funding does not allow this. I know from my own area, there is rarely a “bad family” there are families that have lots of bad attitudes and education in them, but even these families produce great people if only the society was geared to support them

Hope hubs and brakes, Shimano Gears.
Lamy for pens, Moleskine for notebooks.
    Volvo for cars.

The loyalty for Specialized gloves and shoes is new to me…I have to say I agree, but had never really thought about how good they are until the loyalists posted.

Big fan of the Surface Pro range. I have an original Surface Pro 1 and it’s fantastic, replacing iPad and Desktop for 95% of the time.
We have quite a few Surface Pro 3’s deployed at work and they are well regarded.
The Surface 3 looks intriguing. I like the change in charge port and the fact it still has USB3 and microSD.
    Personally I would buy either:
128gb Surface Pro 3 OR the 4G enabled Surface 3 when released OR wait to see what the soon expected Surface Pro 4 brings to the party.

Overall though, yes buy one of them!

    Pretty much agree with Dazh.
Think tories will get a majority, but reduced.
Libdems to do better than expected.
Still not ruling out Labour trying to steal the show by linking up with SNP “in the interests of the country”.

I had a butterfly knife and a flick knife by the age of 8. Broadly turned out ok 30 years later! both my kids have had swiss army knives from the age they asked for them…around 10 in my case. Trust your kids, accept a few cuts and be assured that this is the best way of raising a responsible next generation of adults.

Should add, it doesn’t need to be branded cola (ie Coke), cheap Aldi stuff for 39p does the trick.
The reason for using diet is that there is no sugar in it to make everything sticky and messy. Just the phosphoric acid you want to clean the scale off.Stink less than vinegar too.

Just pour a 2 litre bottle of diet coke in before bedtime and leave overnight.

Here in Leeds they have it pretty well sorted.
We have a small kitchen caddy, free issued compostable liners for this caddy and a mini-wheelybin that gets collected each week.
It’s a great system and as we cook a lot and have a dog then the food trimmings/waste bin is well used.
Leeds also have a brown bin for garden waste (plus some allotment waste in our case!).

    Attempt at semi serious answer.
Firstly diamond stuff at full value is a rip off.
With diamond the chemist in me screams out…IT’S JUST CARBON FFS.
Unlike gold and other heavy elements, diamond is only valuable because its difficult to make and not because the elements to make it are in short supply.
For natual diamonds I am a purist VS and good scores for clarity really matter. The cut on a diamond really matters..you want a diamond that sparkles. For me (well my Mrs) that means a bright white sparkly, not a cute pink marketed one.

Agree with Cougar, Nemesis is epic.
Still Busch Gardens wins out as it has better food and Cheetah…which is like a 2 mile long Nemesis…Amazing.
We were there two years ago and did Sheikra 5 times back to back!

Ebikes are great and have a place. As is often the case, Germany is way ahead of us in this and they make up a much higher percentage of total bike sales and the rules are clear on speed and use.
I personally would not choose to use one on a group MTB or road ride as it defeats the point for me. But I would not object if others chose/needed to ride an ebike as part of a group ride.
For commuting and replacing short local trips in the car ebikes are amazing. I have a Kalkhoff fitted with two big Ortlieb panniers. I can fill the panniers with shopping and still cycle round hilly Leeds at a respectable speed. If I want to nip up to the allotment (3 miles away) it’s quicker to use the ebike than a normal bike, and preferable to driving.
The bikes like Kalkhoff are a completely different class of bike and are true car replacement bikes: enough speed for most trips, enclosed chain, full muduards, integrated and bright lighting and powerful brakes.
I am sure that many of the naysayers on here would have been equally at home 100 years ago wingeing about the introduction of the freewheel or those new fangled multi gear derailler bikes.

In the 90’s it was full rigid, 20 years later 5″ of plush damping. Same with my bikes.

Crikey…20 years for me too in a few months! Is this the generation that were at teens and early 20’s when MTB first came big in the early 90’s and then got houses and jobs in the mid 90’s. Certainly a cluster of 20 year marriages on here!

Their Czech pils is lovely as is their premium green pesto. Their curries however are bland and laden with an excess of tomato.

The ones I respect come from many partys:
Margaret Hodge (her select comittee work is uncompromising).
Margaret Thatcher, dragged the country into the 21st century and saved us from being an inefficient mess like France.
Danny Alexander deserves credit for being the brains to control George Osborne.
I always used to say Jack Straw, but he is now tarnished.
Cameron never answers a question thats asked (from personal and observed experience and for this reason I don’t respect him). Ed Milliband is the product of a dweeb being given PR steroids… trying to hard to connect and be butch.
I would love to see some better characters in Labours front bench. Ther’s Andy Burnham who appears OK but not much else. Ed Balls is the one politician I have zero respect for.

Makita LXT is really good. 18v Lithium batteries and you can buy naked tools once you have the batteries for very reasonable money. Have a look at FFX or Toolstop.

So long as the compressor isn’t smoking it will be OK. Unless salt has corroded the electrics. They don’t take well to added water. Is the fridge Danish, because if so it will be terrible quality.

Cordonui (wrong spelling) or Freixnet are both pretty good…dty and crisp.
Aldi do a good one for £4.50.
A good cremant to Limoux is fantastic stuff (as good as many champagnes), but unless you drive down to Carcassonne then you probably won’t see it as it seldom appears in UK retailers.

As a parent of two teenagers, I have in the past taken them out of school (normally last week of summer term when not much happens). I think common sense is needed. At the moment I have GCSE’s and AS levels looming. I would not dream of letting either of my two miss school at this stage, but in primary school if they are making good progress then I don’t see an issue with a few days, and the progress my two are making now backs up that judgment made when they were younger. Doubt they would have made more progress at GCSE/AS either as they are in top 10% in their class and teachers don’t have the resources to allow one or two pupils to get 6 months ahead of their peers.

Maybe meet them at York Retail Outlet on the A19.
Its a straight run out of York to here, there’s lots of parking and a choice of Costa etc. If you are going to Dalby then you pass this on the A64 anyway.

There are also some good supply chain specific agencies. I can’t advise you which as A)I am mainly in procurement and B)I am not job hunting currently so am a bit out of touch.

oh lastly…LinkedIn is your friend. Use it and connect to the companies you are interested in. Don’t be afraid to approach directly, but be polite and professional.

Foodmanjobs is a good place to look for logistics food industry jobs.
Don’t forget to look directly at company websites that are in your area, many of the best jobs only appear directly on company website and don’t make it to external agencies or websites. If its a good role with lots of likely candidates then many companies will advertise internally and approach a few known sources for candidates. However the role MUST be posted on company website so that the company can say it’s been an open and fair process.

I work in supply chain, but you need to be more specific for advice to be given. Its a bit like saying “I work in the film industry”…OK so are you Brad Pitt or the guy who runs the catering truck. :-)

Love the irony of those posting on an internet forum lamenting the march of technology. Were you faxing each other in the 80’s saying that Amstrad was destroying the world?

This is quite a common policy and should have been clearly identified in your staff handbook or offer letter.
My own company has a progressive generosity of sickness pay based on length of service. This is partly because in the service industry it is common to get people only working for a few months (students etc) and they do sadly tend to take more “sick” than longer term employees. Sick pay (beyond statutory) is not an entitlement, its a benefit offered by the company.

Thanks for this…however instead of more overpriced Oakleys I bought a fantastic pair of Red Bull carbon framed specs down from £269 to £67. They have arrived today and are magnificent.

Still using photobucket here. Is there anything better?
Photobucket is great, apart from the adverts.
