I know this. Not really that much of a problem, even 4×4 drivers need somewhere to practise their hobby, and it makes it more interesting for us, both up and down….

Don't think they damage the trail at all. They just keep re-arranging the bits, so that every descent is a new challenge.

    Likewise the ICR

The official name for ICR is George's Lane. It continues all the way past the pigeon loft and the kennels to Montcliffe. It is still legally a road, that's why the 4×4 men churn it up, and nobody can stop them.

I have been riding it for 20 years and to me its called the "Wrights Arm's decent"

    #2.

Wright's Arms was a good pub, back in the day when….

A good place to take someone else's woman, as it was just a bit off the beaten track.

IIRC the track was upgraded to a permissive bridleway, that's why the upgrading work was done. Unfortunately the permission stops at the gate/stile near the TV masts, meaning that you can legally only go up and down from the bottom. Strange but true.

Don't think any of my forks have ever been square across the top. Spacers are used to take out any slight imperfections. Smashing face on the stem? Can't work that one out. Must be an elfinsafety bod.

Thought you didn't as long as they didn't have shot in them. The blanks were very small, only about 3/4 inch long, so can't have had too much in them, but with elfinsafety boys these days who knows.

On the old forum this topic was discussed, and someone listed a form of cap gun, that used shotgun type cartridges, but obviously without the shot balls. Apparently it's quite legal. Makes one hell of a noise when it goes off. Anyone remember what it was?

I've had that e-mail, which explains a lot. I've also had a phone call from the company, and they are in a right old mess. Looks like they've been right royally shafted by their employee. I've been told that he's been arrested by plod, so it looks pretty serious. Anyway, they've sorted me out in fine style, and I've converted my negative feedback to positive.

Water can leak from under the flange inside the sink. Then down through the threads, so that it appears to be coming from where the waste joins in. Put some sealant under the flange, and make sure the big nut is tight.

Last one I put in I sealed with ordinary silicone sealant. Still holds water.

B&Q quality might have something to do with it.

This bike took nearly 9 months to arrive (long story) so there's no way I'm sending it back to the shop 'cos I might never see it again – I need to fix this myself – any help or info about the 2010 set up appreciated.

Can't be a 2010 model then. The 2010 frames come with a seat clamp on them. No shims supplied or needed for a seat post of 27.2. Mine hasn't slipped, siezed or in any way misbehaved, since I got it in early September. It was one of the first to be released, but don't think they've changed specs at all.

OP was asking about 2010 models; not sure why we're talking about 2007/2008/2009 or even 2003 frames.

Lodore on the side of the lake is good. Pricey, but very, very nice. Right at the start of the road to Watendlath if you're doing the bash.

Someone on here, forget who, once ordered a whole bag load from somewhere, abroad I think. Several of us chipped in and we each got a bag of 10 bushes for next to nothing.

Can't remember who it was, when it was, or where they came from. You could try a search, but it might have been before the hack. All I can remember is that it was one of the regular posters from down your way.

    Not much help, sorry.

I'll be in Grizedale on Saturday, but won't touch NFT. Aiming for a 25 mile ride, on far better stuff than that.

crazy legs has done it on his cross bike

He wouldn't be underbiked. There's nothing in NFT that can't be found on some X races. Three Peaks is probably technically harder.

my actual XC rig is out of action so we've both got short travel 4x full sus bikes to take, which

You don't need more than a hardtail for NFT.

Alston to Kirkland I've ridden. No problems. It's double track all the way to Greg's Hut, just a relentless gradient. From there it's a bit indistinct over the top of the moor until you get to the bothy, then more good doubletrack all the way down. No problems at all, even in poor weather. Can't help with the Maiden Way but, never been there.

Yup, just tried dragging and it works perfectly in the latest version of FF, whatever version that may be. Thanks all.

I used DezB's guide, but found I shattered my spoke key on the first set of main bearings. Used a big socket on the other side.

    ChatsworthMusters

No, probably not. Looks like that was a big co-incidence. I've just used PayPal without problems, so think that's OK.

BTW, re yesterdays conversation, half NW England has lost their BBC 1 & 2 channels. Some are getting Wales, some Midlands and others are even getting TV from Middlesborough. Powers that be are just shrugging their shoulders. Looks like I've got to spend £60 on a decent aerial, but as the present one only cost £10 it's hardly surprising that it's giving poor reception. Thanks for your help.

Chatsworth, Exactly the same is happening to me with the same company.
Ordered two types from them 3 weeks ago. One turned up promptly the other hasn't turned up. No response from ebay emails.

That's great news. At least I'm not alone. So out of five posters on here who have had dealings with the company 3 are not at all happy. Don't think that (admittedly small) sample means they could be called a

    reputable shops

Wilfs is a rip off frequented by tourist bikers

I tend to agree. Service is abysmal.

    ChatsworthMusters

There invoice doesn't quote phone numbers, see above^^^(at least twice.)

They can't be reputable if they take money, don't send goods, state that there are "More than 10 in stock", won't reply to e-mails, won't reply to a PayPal dispute and won't deal with a claim from PayPal. The reasonable customer would think that they might be a bit dodgy. Customer service doesn't seem to exist with them. All fair comment.

    ChatsworthMusters

Should add it's been a month now since I placed the order. Even if the e-mail has nothing to do with them, they are **** to deal with.

    ChatsworthMusters

Yup, made reference to the dispute. Quoted a reference number, which bears no resemblence to anything on my PayPal account, but was said to refer to my account being given limited access. Told me that I needed to forward account details and scans of paperwork to get the limitation lifted.

Fortunately I didn't click on the links in the mail. Tried to look at it through my anti phishing software and all hell let loose. Big warnings about fraudulent e-mails.

I suppose it could be a total co-incidence, and that the company just have a pretty awful customer service ethos. But it makes me very wary.

    ChatsworthMusters

That's very odd then. Why won't they quote contact details, or even reply to me? They won't reply to Paypal either. Maybe the e_bay site is a scam?

    Something very fishy here.

I'm confused by Mark's post. So we have to respect everyone on here, but Singletrack mag is allowed to slag off ("hate") it's members on Twitter?
    Weird.

I don't quite follow the logic there either.

I used Microsoft Frontpage for a basic website. Piece of **** to use. Might not have been the most visually exciting site ever, but it served the intended purpose. Only trouble is that I changed machines and no longer have Frontpage, so the site is sitting there unused. If you find anything that's suitable let me know.

    Was recommended this:-

but it's not free.(But it's only £30). Don't know if it's anygood, not brave enough to try it!!!!

Try "Stables" in Standish Street, Keswick. You can't get more central. Approx 1 minute to Dog and Gun, 30 secs to KMB. Has a utility room that could be used for storage. Does short breaks at this time of year.

Same problem here. Seems to me that it only fully releases when the forks are at full extension. Any compression and it stays down.

    ChatsworthMusters

Well sorted after a fashion. I can tell TV how to use certain channels, but it's a lot of button pushing. I've found "normal" BBC 1 & 2 now. Instead of them being programmes 1 & 2 they are now programmes 800 and 801. It's easier just to use these than set up profiles etc on the TV. BBC 1 is going all digital in a month, so we might have more fun then.

Also, as the signal now appears weaker than the Welsh one after our change over, then logic says that the Welsh one might also loose strength when they change, whenever that may be.

As we can get to watch what we want we'll sit on it ftb. Thanks for your help, esp uplink.

    ChatsworthMusters

Yup, found them all and is giving a full reading for them, but it still prefers Moel y Parc. (TV is nearly new, bought for this changeover to avoid any problems like this!!)

In a direct line Winter Hill is about 20 miles away, and the Welsh one is some 60 miles.

Done a manual retune, but no difference. TV did an automatic retune when we switched it on. Still getting welsh telly. Not happy.

    Anyone know anything about aerials?

    ChatsworthMusters

OK, if the aerial is crap, with poor rear rejection, what is a good aerial? I know nowt about such things.

    ChatsworthMusters

The 'Welshy ones' are coming straight up the back of the aerial

But the house is in the way of the signal. Will the signal bounce round things?
