Don't go down the white grips route – I have learnt this through experience

Gotta agree there. The grips litterally looked like shite. The only good thing to come out of white grips were the white lock on collars I was left with.

Yes you can get some more. I scoured the Shimano (or maybe Madison) spares section of their website when I lost one on my old Saints. Eventually found the things, noted down the code and got my LBS to order some for me. Cost a couple of quid.

I arrive at work, enter panic-station mode, and dont have a seconds break until I'm on my way home.

    It's the same here.

It seems to me that these 'investigative' program makers go into known trouble spots. Walk into our unit (30 staff) and you won't see what you saw on TV last night.
Logistics get in the way more than anything. We have had 3 vans break down in the last week – we have a budget for hiring others but the hire centre we are forced to use doesn't open until 10am. 2-3 hours of somebodys working day is lost just like that – it's that sort of stupidity that is getting Royal Mail into the trouble it's in.

Every office probably has people that seem to get away with doing as little as possible. I go to work at 6am and finish 7 – 8 hours later entirely sattisfied that I have done my job better than what is expected of me. No employer can ask for more than that.

A very productive morning. There must have been 10 metres of new pitched stone trail bed down before Si and me left at lunchtime. Hoping you guys left made progress later on. Plenty of huge boulders shifted into place too.
Just shows what can be done with a few more people.

Thanks to everyone who turned up to lend a hand!!!

Si and me will be there about 9.15.

For anybody turning up before 10 – head down the felled area towards (and beyond) the bottom of the descent line – you should be able to see us.

….and it's Stif's opening weekend too. You could kill two birds with one stone – lend as hand at Stainburn for the morning, leave feeling good about yourself and reward yourself with new shiney stuff in the afternoon. Sorted.

Once you've started looking, you've already bought it.

    Sorry.

    Barb wire

Guess what – the police advised against it – I could be left liable if one of the little f***ers hurt themselves on it. What rights do decent citizens actually have left these days?

Yep. Never had a problem with Merlin. Ordered a 2010 deore V Brake set (front/rear and levers) on sunday evening – arrived tuesday morning. They even threw in the cables which weren't supposed to be included, all for £25. TBH I don't know how they did it so cheap. The very same items on CRC would've cost £72.

Dig day is always the first sunday of every month. Next one is on the 7th Feb. It is usual to meet in the main car park about 9.45 with a view to get cracking for 10.00am.

Seriously, any time offered is appreciated. Stainburn is an amazing place to ride, but with the small regualar crew of trailbuilders we only have limited resources.

    Massive transfers into wallrides.

Look out for 2.20 and 4.20 mins.

Mark Webb is fantastic though. First saw him in the Bangers and Mash vid on You Tube. There is another vid of him on You Tube doing a fakie roll back on a mini ramp into front flip – you would never think it was possible.

I have a Focus C-Max. Bikes will go in laid flat with wheels on (just) or stood up without the front wheels. My mates Berlingo takes two bikes stood up without removing any wheels.

Apparently birds like our red rubber bands – it seems they think they are worms. Have you checked for a nest under there? :D

Takisawa2 – you'll have what is described as a 'cold bridge' if you don't fill the gap. It needs filling to be effective.

What's the effect of boarding over the insulation?

If you squash it you lose the air gaps which is integral to how the insulation works.

Has anybody ever used the bagged (orange one side/foil on the other) to insulate beneath their ground floor?
I did this last year by stapling it between the floor joists, but there is a nagging doubt that what i've done is wrong because the rolls cleary state for loft use only. It made a hell of a difference to the warmth of the house downstairs though.

Yeah, GT85 or WD40 are both supposed to displace water anyway so spraying sorts it in one simple task.

Placed an order on the 29th Dec – order completed on the 31st – package arrived 5th Jan. Now this is a little longer than I would usualy expect, but there has been a bank holiday and bad weather across the country. CRC and the Royal Mail do a great job between them especially at this busier time of year.

Also, if you are putting a new floor down set all your units higher by about 10mm (depending on floor surface) to accomodate it beneath the plinths and end panels (which you'll need to remove). It's much easier to run the floor under than it is trying to butt up against existing units.

At the size of your room it doesn't sound like a big job – Seriously consider doing it yourself. Did ours last year using units from B&Q for less than £2000 including paying joiner and electrician (all base units were 50% off). Look at it as a big jigsaw puzzle. If you can put shelves up you can put kitchen units up. Accept that not everything will fit perfectly – you may have to get medievel to fit the units over pipework etc. Compression fittings and/or flexible pipework makes the plumbing easier. We paid a joiner to cut and join the worktops and an electrician to move some sockets. Plan it in such a way that you don't leave yourself without a sink for too long (do a wall at a time). Budget for a few extra takeaways.
Consider the tools you'll need too – a decent saw, spirit level, drill amongst others.

It's an old shimano unit and i'm looking at fitting Truvativ isoflow arms – £15 from CRC, so probably all Jap.

Got a TV with Freesat and Freeview in it. The only real advantage over Freeview is the HD options that the Beeb and ITV offer.
There are a few channel differences too – some on freeview aren't available on freesat and vica versa.
Obviously you need a dish too which is more expense. I cancelled our Sky subscription years ago but our old Sky dish does the job.

Used a local 'only pay for what you use' concrete supplier (they mix it/you barrow it) for the base. I recall it cost about £100 for an 8'x8' base (10 years ago). I used a small bucket to leave a socket in the concrete base. When the shed arrived I cut a hole in the base over the socket and filled it with concrete – that way I had a concrete surface at floor level in the shed to fix a ground anchor into.

Anything that makes it harder for a thief is better than nothing. I have one of those rape alarms rigged up to the door plus 3 chain/lock combinations on the bikes. Two basic shed locks and two padlocks secure the door. The windows are covered internally with an old bedsheet which still lets light in. I then fixed our old mesh childrens fireguard over the windows intenally. I also leave the wifes Hardrock unlocked basically as bait – I figure that a thief might be happy with one unlocked bike rather than try to overcome my locks.

Mrs opted for beads off Ebay. TBH you'd struggle to tell the difference between them and true Pandora beads. They still have 925 silver inserts but were a fraction of the cost. I'm talking ten for a fiver rather than £20 for one.
Depends on much of a snob you are I suppose, but her friends are impressed with them.

You need to go into your Windows settings and create a larger paging file rather than letting Windows set the default.

    Thats. Control Panel…System…Advanced…Performance Options…System Memory

Go to Custom Size and set it to 4096. Reboot.

Did this – all is well. Seems to be managing deleting and moving photo files much better now. Thanks for the advice.
It was already set to 'custom' setting. I suppose if it was on 'system managed' it may have coped better, but all's well now and i'm happy, thanks.

I am currently 'defragmenting' the disc. It suggests that there is 41.5GB / 55% free space.

Cheers. I think i'll be best getting a new drive slotted in and moving all my music and photos. I'm pretty sure that that is what's probably causing the problem.

Everything is running as normal at the moment, hence the 1st class service.

Just part of the problem but here goes…..

In our office we had 26 delivery rounds RM introduced this all singing and dancing computer module that would tell us how many rounds can be disolved between us all. We lost one, which basically means we were already working to near full capacity.

Local area manager told us of the same module been applied in Putney where they had 90 delivery rounds. It lost 27!! In other words they have been getting away with murder, and are striking because they want to keep getting away with murder.

If you put it back in the postbox marked 'not at this address' or similar this is what happens….

If it has a return address on it it will get returned to sender, but there is nothing to say they will act upon it once it is returned.

If it has a first or second class stamp on it but no return address on the envelope it goes to Belfast to be officially opened. If there is a return address inside it will get returned, but again, there is nothing to say they will act upon it once it is returned.

If there is no return address either inside or out it goes in a big bag marked 'Confidential Waste' and gets incinerated, and trust me sh**loads get dealt with in this way.
