Taken at Netherton outside Wakefield before it was closed. Shame – it was a good place for an afternoon playing on the bike.

    Top ladder drop at GT.

The bike BTW was a Cannondale Chase.

A lot of the shagging in the Rover was filmed on Baildon Moor.
I still like to go up there for the sort of ride we're more familiar with.

"It's got reclining seats you know" – classic.

Saw someone out on a bike recently who had bar ends inboard of the brakes and shifters. They actually looked really comfortable for a long slog as it wasn't a technical climb.

Had mine for about 2 years now. No worries about 24 spokes – Still as true as the day they were built and i've not been particulary carefull with them either. I haven't yet done any maintainance on the cones as they are still running fine. The front felt a little tight at first but it runs freely now. My only worry long term, is spares. The spokes aren't exactly common but snapping one is probably also highly unlikely. Only other possible problem will be a cone spanner for the front hub – it's a big 'n'. Heard tales of crappy freehubs, but again, no problems there either. And, yep, they do look great.

Next week look at the post that drops through your door. If it has a stamp, 1, 2, or M in the top corner, then Royal Mail have been paid to deliver that. Everything else is put through your letterbox by Royal mail for FREE (ie – Royal Mail sees no revenue from it)
This is why they are losing so much money!
Large companies now have the choice who they decide to send their mail with, but these companies don't do the final mile. TNT can tender for a contract (and undercut Royal Mail because RM has fixed pricing structures set by the regulator that the others don't have to adhere to). The customer pays TNT for the service. TNT then prepare their mail and turn up at a RM depot and leave it for RM to sort and deliver.

This is like me buying discount bike parts online and going to my local bike shop (he has the monopoly in town as he is the only one) and I then expect him to fit the parts for free because he has the network (tools etc) in place.

Re-read what I have just posted and really understand just what is happening. It's beyond belief! No company can sustain itself doing work for nothing and yet the goverment and regulator allows it to happen. There is a general feeling within RM that it is all just one big conspiracy to make the business fail, thus prompting private investment.

and this is probably one of the most unsettling things a star wars fan could ever see

Never seen that before. I've always known of it's existence. After watching the first five mins i'm glad i've not seen it. What the hell is going on with Mark Hamill? I know he was a car accident between filming Ep4 and Ep5 (hence the wampa attack in Ep5 to give reason for facial scars)- I can only only presume the make up is covering that up.

    this is good…..

They've got a crazy system up here – postie doesn't go back to office once he/she has finished their round – they just dump all undelivered parcels back at local post office, they get collected and then go BACK to major sorting office, get sorted again, get delivered to local sorting office, get sorted again and land back on the posties rack days later.

Almost – you are right about not going back the office. It's shut by the time we finish (progress indeed  ). Stuff should be bagged up in one first class mailing pouch, but yes it does go back into the system to be resorted. I only use this method if it's my day off the day after though, otherwise it goes home with me (trusting I know) and is taken back the following morning. The pouches are always back in the office and the contents waiting for collection the next day. Clearly it's not happening everywhere though.
Think it's bad now? – things are going to go tits up over the next few months in Royal Mail as new delivery methods are introduced.

What we gonna do when they turn off the analogue signal?? There's gonna be so much redundant radio equipment

I thought it was only analogue TV signals they were turning off. Radio should be unaffected.

I reckon you're likely to get more crap and dust in the threads doing that.

I just ran a sharp screw through the threads inside the BB. The cups went in fine after that.

My mate had the same problem as you, (don't know what headset) he just filed a bit off the gusset.

Indeed I did. My headset was an FSA Orbit Z 1.5 reducer – this one…

The floodgate adjuster on my Pikes caught in exactly the same place. I just filed a bit of the gusset away. No big deal really although it does feel a little wrong on a new frame. Just make sure you protect the rest of the downtube with something in case you slip.

If I was considering you for a job,

That's not going to happen though is it? Business can't be too good if you're on here arguing all afternoon

I'll second a Rocky Mountain Slayer SXC. Climbs well, descends well. Not too many around either (and that's not a reflection on it been crap).

15 years. Wow. I remember calling around to Foulds Terrace and the mood in the house was all wrong. I then found out what had happened. Although I never knew JMC, I saw first hand how much he meant to you.

A tabletop is indeed tipping the bike on its side – flat like a tabletop.
It used to be a style thing, but I suspect you might be refering a little to the Brian Lopes vid. He looks to use it to soak up the jump and keep the bike low – airtime is slowtime.

my name on the right of my stomach just above my belt

because that's so easy to forget, or so, when your corpse is washed up on a beach, people know who you were ?

No – I didn't include my surname. Perhaps I could include my phone number and email address next time, just in case the worst happens.

You just need the barbed wire, some Chinese caligraphy and a few stars and you'll have ticked every box! A walking history of passing tattoo fads!

You missed a few. A swallow for my neck, a celtic band on my arm, a naked bird in a champagne glass, 'love/hate' on my knuckles, a spider web on my elbow, 'cut here' on my neck and a barcode on my head.

None of them were fads. The first two mean a lot me as they remind me of time spent with a good friend, who has since passed away. He was with me for the first one, and we both decided on the next (he chose one too) a week before he died. It seemed fitting to go through with it. The rest are my commitment to my family.

People without tattoos will never 'get it'. That's not a dig – it's just a fact. A lot of people I know want one. They've just never found the right thing or had the commitment to actually do it.

My wife has a small 'Violator' rose (Depeche Mode) on her upper arm. A woman she works with had said she could never understand why anybody could do that to their body – this was two weeks before the same 50 year old woman was going for a boob job – each to their own.

I have seven in total. A chinese dragon on my shoulder, a celtic design on my upper left arm, my kids names on my inner biceps, my name on the right of my stomach just above my belt, my wifes name on the opposite side and the word 'forever' relating to the names on my stomach just below my belt line on the small of my back. I don't regret any of them and I don't care what anybody else thinks about them. They are all personal to me, and unless I take my shirt off you'd never even know they were there.

If you really want it, go for it. Don't let anybody else sway your decision. It's a personal thing. You've thought about it. I got to the point where I was thinking about it every day for about six months – I knew then that it was something I needed to do.

A mate broke his roker link – managed to get it sorted under warranty. In two other separate incidents he also cracked the seat tube and the seatstay bridge. All fixed under warranty. All three main components of the frame snapped!

Funnily enough, I just scanned these old photos of me on my BMX. They are mid to late '90s.
I used to be pretty good. I wouldn't do a one hander any more, but one footers creep in occasionally.

I'd hate to think what will happen to my gut (and everything else) the day I stop been a postie. Currently I walk about 7 miles on my round, five days a week, and eat loads just to keep refueled, and I still have 31" waist one year off my 40th birthday.

Cheers, just chucked up a slightly closer pic of them.

Perhaps someone will try the other way round.

Did it last week. A bike with two personalities, hence two different looks from each side. I must admit, I prefer the white over black.

    Pics in this thread….

PS. Does anybody have clearance issues with adjusters on Pikes under the downtube if using a very low stack headset? Just need to be sure before I order one.

I have wondered this myself. I have the XT All Mountains. The list of spares on Madison is massive – It may be possible to swap them out as I think Shimano are now doing a 15mm version.

Ordered Saturday. Arrived today. Stickered up, but that's all for now. With the Pikes at 95mm and the saddle dropped, this bike is going to have a darkside, hence the opposing stickers….

Took the plunge and bought a blue 16" to replace my Summer season. Just need to wait until mid August to get a headset onto octobers credit card bill – Given it too much stick lately.
After a very quick go on Simons yesterday and a spin on the 18" at the weekender, I must say i'm really looking forward to getting it built up.

See ya there. Looking forward to seeing the completion of the decent line. Test pilots wanted? Hopefully all this recent rain should've really helped to bed it down. Buckets needed to water the tomorrows work?

Remember too, anybody coming along and putting a few hours hard graft will get the opportunity to win a Ragley Blue Pig frameset kindly donated by Ragley/Hotlines, as long as you are a signed up SingletrAction member by the time the draw takes place next March… http://www.singletraction.co.uk/index.php?fn_mode=fullnews&fn_id=71

Alternatively, using some mole grips bend (squeeze together) the bottom layer of the SFN in so the diameter is just larger than the internal dia of the forks. It makes getting it in a lot easier and by the time you get to the next layer of the SFN you should have it nice and straight for the final big hit to get it all in. Still a good idea to use an old bolt and top cap to keep it straight and prevent you knocking it too far in.

Whilst I can't fault the service whether it's 1 day or 3 days (it's bloody good), if it's not going to be dispatched on the same day the website needs updating. An order placed earlier today clearly stated 'Your order should be dispatched today'. It's now 5'15 and i'm not expecting the email stating my order has been dispatched today now. Tell it like it is is all I say.

My nine year old lad did it using individually cut out letters from the sticker sheets given away nearly every month with MBUK.
Looks pretty good actually – kind of a cross between a ransom demand and the Sex Pistols single covers.

There is an option on B Regs (Building Notice) forms for a 'whoops I forgot to get building regs on my extension' whereby they will inspect what you have had done. I think it costs more than an upfront application would have done though.

ebygomm has a point. A lot don't get signed off usually down to some silly little condition that gets swept under the carpet and forgotten about.
