    Bloody good ride i say!
You lot certainly got out at the right time too, my slog back to Lyd hill then back into taunton was nasty!!!! The cloud really came in with a wind to boot. Clocked 32 miles in the end so you lot must have done 18ish i think?
I'll upload the route for those (very few!) without GPS's when I get 2 mins!

Yey! This is tomorrow morning and I cant wait to get out again!!!

The Kind people at Ralph Colmans (Me, Ian and Baz) have got a bit of food for you all and also a free tube if you pop by the shop on the way home with one of the vouchers i'll be carrying.
Could prove VERY useful for the second days riding if your heading to the Mendips!!!
I'll also do you all 10% off in the shop if you bring said voucher in!

So basically, look out for me (on a White Whyte) and ask for ride shots and a tube voucher!

Not trying to plug the shop, just supporting the ride like we did last time.

See you all in the Morning!

SHARKI – Your bikes fixed(ish) and good to go for the morning, let me know when you want it.
PAUL – Im getting a lift up to lyd hill for 9 so will see you a CCooooombe

    Shimano all the way!!

However, im liking the look of the new DT stuff where its not cam operated and you can then lock the lever into an out of the way position.

Doesnt matter how flat it is, it will still be locked to the rim.

Can be used to it… i found mine 100times better than a QR.
Just make sure you drop it in the lowest gear and pull the wheel back into the frame.

Have to break the seal first otherwise you wont get anywhere.
I find a good squeeze of the tyre sidewall over to the other side usually does it. Should hear a hiss as the bead breaks. Then use some levers if necessary to get the tyre off the rim.

I've been looking for a way to explain, this is stolen from someone else as it makes good sense! There are too many variables to get exact results from two different sources, beam patterns wont meet etc etc.

Lumens are additive. No you wont see twice as far with twice the lumens because the beam spreads. To See twice as far you need 4x the lumens…or you can halve the beam angle.

The other issue is perception. If your 250 lumen light illuminates well for 16m (how far you ride in 3s at 20kph) but you want to see for 32m for those 40kph tailwinds … well if you turn up the power to 1000lumens you get the same illumination out at 30m. Only now you have a really bright patch out to 15m which blinds your eyes, so you aren't SEEING quite out to 30m even though the illumination there is fine.
Solution…put a second light in with the same 250lumens but half the beam angle pointed out to 30m. Same illumination out at 30 but 500lumens instead of 1000.

Yeah, I've seen the research, your not safer…. your just less likely to be knocked off.
They said nothing about where to wear a helmet, they just stated its safer not to wear one….

    I agree with Raddogair…. RIDE A LIGHT(ISH) BIKE!
Weighed my Orange when I got back and it was 32lbs. Wish I'd taken the whyte at about 24lbs with a saddle that was bedded in, where as the Orange was 100miles old.

Isnt that a total contradiction glenh???
Your saying that my road tyre has a larger contact patch than my car tyre?

Surely the same volume of air in my car tyre and my road tyre would give the 70psi difference between the two?

Mines a 2010 Boooooosted shock… and its mid rebound and comp on a Medium frame. If i were keeping it the shock would be going back for a high rebound tune!

    charlierevell

91kgs… just over 200psi with camelback on.
Cant get the rebound right with that pressure, at max its still a little pogo stick like!

I can do a loop to give some different more tech descents in the coombes but wouldnt want to avoid them totally. The whole day in triscombe/Great wood would be just like an uplift day without the uplifts!

Otherwise I should be able to let you follow me round a good selection of natural and manmade trails!

Used to work for Robus and there fixed LED downlight is pretty bright for what its worth!
The replacement lamps are all shite…. to produce the light output the heatsink would be huge, instead they make them GU10 size and they dont last/are to dim.
Robus LED unit (RF110LED etc…) is also dimmable on a standard plate.

Megaman are pants, they have had issues of failure from overheating in small fittings. The colours are a bit pants and the dimming seems to flicker til its warmed up.

My advice would be to go with LV…. not mega energy efficient but a 35w MR16 lamp will give you 50w of GU10 and last longer. Much cheaper than using LEDs and you can get different heat variants (aluminium backed etc. )
