Stato – yes I can confirm they do fit in the rear. Rear ends on Cooker27+ frames are all 135mm width – not Boost.

adsh we will continue sponsoring the Erlestoke 12, we might even do something crazy and race the 27+ bikes! Don’t forget 29″ wheels fit in these 27+ frames and that the outer diametre of the 27+ is very similar to a 29″ standard wheel (all depends on tyre type). All I would say is 27+ is no fat bike.. Rolling resistance is far lower than you might imagine. Everyone who’s actually ridden the bikes have been very surprised.

I have enjoyed reading the comments in this thread.. Those saying how much they liked our 24″ Iron and Blender, Dusters etc.. I would say we had almost exactly the same skepticism when we first launched those bikes, for them now 5 years on to be singled out about what was / is good about our brand. These new 27plus bikes have been researched, ridden and launched in exactly the same way. Time will tell.

I am a geek, I think… well I hope, I am after all posting on this forum. The point was that to make mountain biking attractive to non-cyclists (rather than fixies) it needs to be less geeky.

Brant, well all I can say in my defense is that I do personally admire what Cy from Cotic has achieved, what he designs and produces, and I genuinely am sorry that I used his name and brand to illustrate my point that, "the geek side of it needs toning down." That was wrong, I regret doing that and I apologise.

What did I say to make you think I was jealous of Cotic and On-one? I do admire what they do, but I think jealously is a bit strong. I think the forum comment related to one particular thread some time ago that I got involved with about Charge and "Marketing Bullshit". I should never have.

The simple reason we (Charge Bikes) use plate dropouts on the Titanium frames is not because of cost, but because it is a neater and more supportive solution for the rear disk mount. If the disk mount is a part of the dropout, as it is on our plate dropouts, less stress is placed on the rear chainstay under braking. It does away with the need for messy brake bridges and we have yet to have a failure at this point on a Duster Ti, Blender Ti (4X frame) and Iron ti (Dirt Jump frame). Put simply it works.

    Cheers

Wow, and I thought I was a mountain bike geek/enthusiast.

Did anyone see the Charge advert in the latest issue of Singletrack magazine? What were your thoughts on that? I will see I can post a scan in a bit.

Please don’t “leave us alone”, I like to hear the thoughts of the enthusiasts, fans and cynics alike . Charge’s main objective is to produce simple, reliable, quality, good value product. There is in fact purposely a complete lack “BS” in the design of the product. I try to market the brand in the most unique way that I can, with the objective being to get the attention of the consumer.

Just wait until you “BS haters” see the Charge ad in the next Singletrack..

Interesting discussion. Not quite sure what to say, but as the designer, marketing guy, and mtb enthusiast/geek I do like reading your thoughts.
