Bitdefender’s Rescue CD is usually my last resort before a full rebuild. Just download the ISO, burn it to CD then boot off it and see what it finds.

Got a Khyam Wayfarer for sale if interested.

Worth a look at their range even if you want to buy new. Very quick to put up and I can do ours by myself which is a bonus if raining as wife/kids can stay in the van while you get wet. Seems quite a solid construction and decent materials but we haven’t actually used it as much as expected so can’t comment on prolonged use in sun.

I’ve been very happy with a pair of Dirty Dogs for just about everything.

Their ‘Fudge’ ones aren’ actually from the sports range but the level of shading is just right for going from bright sun to the shadows in a forest without having to take them off and the polarisation cuts out the glare very effectively in low morning/evening light or when I’m down at the beach. I don’t think I’d bother with non-polarised glasses again.

On the subject of weight, if you’re thinking of doing much/any hill-walking with one of these as well as the cycling then see if it has a hand-brake option. Walking down steep hills with a loaded up buggy isn’t much fun!

Sorry to jump on the thread but I’m going to be working up near Harrogate for a couple of days the week after next and hope to have time for a quick post-work ride.

What’s my best option in the vicinity?

Stainburn Forest comes up on tbe Singletrack trailguide but is it going to work for an hour of riding post 6pm?

Any recommendations for somewhere to stay nearby welcomed as well.

    Thanks

Upside of Chariots is they get very good re-sale prices. We had a single Chariot Cougar from 2008 till late last year and still got around 70% of the original price back iirc. Very flexible with the bike, jogging and buggy wheel options which you can carry on-board all at the same time. This lets you cycle somewhere, switch wheels and then have a walk around/go inside cafes/etc and so on. Downside is the bulkiness even when folded which means needing a big boot if driving somewhere first and a big porch or else a garage to store in. I don’t know how the alternatives fare on the latter aspect.

However I found our now-4-year old was increasingly reluctant to even get in it last year so I personally wouldn’t recommend the double although the carrying space for picnics/clobber could be good. He would far rather whizz around on his balance bike and later his pedal bike.

I used to get similar issues when out on customer sites or in some hotels/public wifi spots.

I think it was the process in this article that did the trick and it won’t do any harm to try:

Failing that upgrade to Windows 7 and you’ll probably get a performance improvement in the process anyway.

Can change wrist angle a bit depending on what angle your risers were swept at and so force your elbows out more as your arms try to maintain a straight wrist-forearm alignment.

At least that’s my experience as I find that toward the end of long rides I’m wishing my flat bars were much more swept back so I could just lock my arms out straight on the final road section home.

+1 for Patagonia ‘Capilene’ baselayers. Mine’s been going for a good 5 years or so now and is generally first choice.

Hmmm… not so sure with a girl but my train-obsessed 3 (now 4) year old loved just going on the Tube. The London Transport museum went down well as well.

She might be a little young to enjoy the Science museum but definitely ready for it in a year or two. Otherwise Wheel as long as they don’t mind heights. London Zoo (Regents Park) is good.

As for you – get on your bike! I love cycling around central London.

Simple expedient of lowering my wifes expectations to the floor years ago, so anything above that is above target

Wish I’d realised that years ago. It’s far more painful having to lower them later on.

The early morning cup of tea that is now expected…
The after meal washing up that is now expected regardless of who cooked…
The phone call every night when away…

We’ve just sold one of these for around 75% of it’s original retail price after 3 years of good use so don’t be afraid to spend the cash on something good:

    http://www.chariotcarriers.com/english/html/cougar.php

For round the farm you can use the full on 3-wheeler jogging kit mode.
For the bike there’s the trailer kit (which works well, it’s not an afterthought by the designers)
For the shops/town/etc there’s the two buggy wheels you replace the jogging wheel with.

All the above can be on the buggy at the same time, so you can cycle somewhere, convert it to 3-wheels for a long walk and then convert to buggy mode to nip into the shop on the way back.

Really well made bit of kit.

Used Waitrose coffee pods once when the seal went on my old espresso machine and found them ok.

mrblobby – you didn’t dishwasher it did you? that ruined my stovetop. I also discovered that it’s better if you start with warm water in the base and turn off the heat as soon as you hear the bubbling otherwise it gets bitter.

    Can you get UV-blocking glass/perspex?

I found it helped having a memory foam ‘topper’ but I think what was more critical was getting a slightly softer mattress under it that allowed my hips/shoulders to sink in more and so get a straighter spine.

N.B. I sleep on side/front not on my back. I assume it’s the latter who need firm mattresses.

Majestic are good for mixed cases from the likes of Bath Ales or Wychwood (who have a nice Blond ale for the ladies).

Some of them are pretty poor if you feel the need to analyse them.

Steamies vs Diesels for instance? Essentially they are saying ‘you’re different to us so it’s ok to hate you for it’.

Alternatively it’s just a particularly annoying kids programme.

On-One Marys? I’ve just put some on the bike but have yet to actually get a chance to properly test out other than a ride round the garden.

Our fridge is able to do something similar and manages to throw the noise somehow so it appears to be coming from elsewhere.

    Just a thought.

I’d second the Spotty Otters suggestion. Very well made kit.

We went for the fleece lined stuff which also works very well for wet British winters.

    chaos
    Full Member

To be honest I did it because it seemed like a good idea in the UK winter and I was doing the inner tube thing for the front wheel/forks at the same time.

Like I said elsewhere it’s dirt causing the cable for the remote lever to stick that has been an issue rather than the post itself.

    chaos

Only issue I’ve had with the Command Post is grit getting in the cable and causing that to stick – i.e. nothing to do with the post itself but a lack of cable end sealing which is disappointing but easily sorted.

I’m not sure how genuine this site is but it suggests only the really old 70s helmets actually suffered from ageing issues.

What’s wrong with an older helmet? 11 years doesn’t seem much for a bit of plastic-covered polystyrene.

I think I can guess the answer but having been given a nice burr grinder and bialetti for Christmas I’ve not been blown away by the result.

Could this be due to the beans being a tin of Illy espresso rather than something freshly roasted as described above?

Current attempt at using an inner tube which seems to be keeping the worst off. Basically took a length of inner tube, cut it lengthways to about halfway down, pushed the uncut section over the (removed) seatpost and then tied the cut part to the seat post rails. Hopefully the pictures will make a little more sense.

Anyone had issues rebuilding a Vaio with ‘Vanilla’ Windows 7? I’m contemplating that as a clean way of removing all the Sony software but am slightly concerned about the drivers and such like. Model in question is a ‘VGN-NW20EF’.

Not convinced now that it was such a good buy but I’ll probably do what I can to speed it up with extra memory and poss an SSD hard drive from creative.

Making pancakes after watching a Peppa Pig episode with Daddy Pig doing a pancake tossing hoop-la seemed to work quite well with our fussy 3 year old. They’ve got eggs, flour and milk in so pretty healthy and nutella’s got more than just chocolate of course.

Very happy with our Chariot Cougar. We got the jogging wheel & buggy wheels as well as the bike attachment. This lets us cycle to the beach/shops and just convert it very quickly into a buggy that’ll handle a run along the beach or into the shops easily.

You do need a fair bit of space to keep it in though and a car with a decent boot if you’re going anywhere. They don’t collapse down much.

I’d just like to see a lot more chevrons painted in the road. Quick cheap solution to reminding people of stopping distances and they do seem to have an effect.
