Ebay’s always been the place to sell stuff in a hurry, generally for less than you get on forums/gumtree/craigslist/marketplace.

Other way round IME, eBay usually gets the best price as it has the biggest audience and more newbies.

I predict a lot more ebike ads on Pinkbike in future though.

I heard a comment regarding Fort William by Bernard Kerr and he complained that it was too much hassle to get to and he wasn’t bothered about it being dropped from the series, he’s a bit of a self centred prick ain’t he?

Well yes, he is – but as a fan I won’t miss Fort William. It usually provides boring racing compared to the other venues.

And I don’t think many of the racers are that keen on the place either, it’s just BK is the most gobby.

Now the spring is off the preload collar won’t turn. Hmm.

Has the previous owner somehow damaged the thread by fitting the wrong size spring?

If I couldn’t get the collar moving with a bit of oil, I’d look for a refund.

Wonder what that’s about? Exploding cheapo eebs maybe?

Shouldn’t they be in motor vehicles anyway though? (winky face emoji)

Gutted to hear about the Crafnant descent, used to work that into a big loop out from Gwydir sometimes.

Here’re some pics from the Pont Scethin loop:

Gravelhugger fits well on my Trig (700c wheels with 45mm tyres).

Protective tape placed under the rubber bands that hold it on.

Best option for what you want is the Pont Scethin loop.

Not super-high, but very “out there” and loads of rocks.

Last time I was there this Spring, I pushed back up to repeat the final descent and get better VFM.

These brakes had been out for a while on eBay in several colours and brand names that you’ve never heard of and for a lot less money too. It usually works the other way around, Chinese knock offs of big brands, this time it’s established brand sticking their name on Chinese catalogue brakes.

Yeah it might make sense if they were half the price – so you had a UK-based warranty, but there are plenty of good brakes available for £200/pair these days.

    Built to last mate

The frame undoubtedly yes, but let’s see about the MGU eh?

TBF that’s a way more appealing way to spaff £11k on an eeb than the equivalent Santa Cruz or Yeti.

Why have they not called it the Geom-E-tron though?

Mabie & Kirry will be your best options, yep. Great fun trails.

Gutted to hear about Shambellie, that was a lovely spot with some nice short runs.

I seem to spend more and more of my time at Ae whenever I’m up that way these days. Kudos to the trail crew for their efforts.

Too much trouser chat, not enough deals!

The large Spada trews were a much better fit BTW

Happy to live with the slightly tight ankles.

Up to 70% off Endura clobber on SportPursuit

Nothing I fancied, but looks good for S or XL peeps

As someone who knows nothing about these bikes and hasn’t ridden any of them, I would feel more attracted to a bike which could take a standard wheelset.

I’m looking at XL ‘enduro’ or trying to anyway.

Start a “what bike” thread with a bit more about your requirements, and get some suggestions from the hivemind?

I’d take the very marginal weight difference of the Rimpact Pro.

I’ve killed a rim with the original Rimpact in, but don’t think I’ve even dented one with a Pro. They last much better too, as the denser cap layer is less prone to tearing.

Cheers, do you feel they’d cinch down to 34? Was there more clicks on the buckle?

what waist size do you usually buy please?

Massive thanks for all the help on here.

Order placed, all boxes ticked, wireless and storage and a decent discount + cyclescheme was an almost no brainer!

Cracking price if you’ve got it on Cyclescheme as well.

Trek carbon frames are really good IME, I loved my old 26in Fuel EX when it had this amount of travel.

4-5 days.. UK or Europe… rare opporuntity…   what would you do?

I think I’d drive to the Highlands with my MTB, and a good selection of waterproofs.

Might well get lucky with the weather though.

No experience myself, but I’ve seen Boardman do eeb gravel and hybrid bikes – which are bound to be competitively priced and decent quality.

have thus far failed to be able to install in a kryptotal enduro casing on the rear of my eeb. after an hour of trying I sat on the floor of garage, sobbing, covered in sealant and trying to figure out how I would pull myself up with forearms and hands as useless as a t-rex.

Haha, if you don’t have one of these, you can thank me later:

I’d also say Inners (enough to go at for more than one day on the uplift) or the FoD and BPW (heard good things about Dirt Farm too).

There’s also an occasional uplift at Ae, which has some cracking enduro trails now. Could be combined with Inners uplift?

I suspect there may be a few “well I have got it advertised but nobody wants to buy it darling” bikes for sale out there.

Or the high price askers aren’t involved enough in the scene to know how much new bike prices have dropped in the sales.

Get Rimpact Pro inserts, they have virtually eliminated pinch flats for me.

You’ll be raving about them if you’re gettign a load now.

Yes, IXS Flow pads fit fine – as above it’s the thighs and ankles that are bizarrely tight.

I don’t think the sizing is wrong per se but the cut is unusual. The waist is true to size IMHO

True, but I’m wondering if the large will still cinch up OK at the waist, with the ratchet buckle, but be slightly less of a Kate Moss fit.

It used to be called Sober October… dunno if Sobtober is official rebranding, but it doesn’t really work eh?

Anyway, I’m going on holiday so it’s a no from me dawg.

Got an Orange Switch 6 frame and shock under £500 this spring.

Hope headset and invisiframe fitted too.

Banked a few quid from the sale of my starling frame.

Might have sold my barely used carbon road bike, if prices hadn’t dropped so low though.

Anyone tried the large and medium? How do they compare?

I can just about fit in the medium but I feel like I’m in a noughties indie band, they’re so tight.

I dunno, I’m not a techie, but I’ve been working on the content side of websites for 20+ years – and this would be a top priority fix for the web devs, who would aim to have it resolved within the hour.

I suspect they don’t know how and can’t afford someone who does?

Honestly think it’ll be perfect for you. I absolutely love mine:

Just tried mine on too, why the hell have they made them so tight at the bottom hem?

Just about fit OK, but will need to try with kneepads as the mediums are a very “tailored” fit for my mighty oaks.

n fact, you can have the one I’m currently using if you want it, cos I don’t need it now the stereo’s died. PM me if you want it and I’ll stick it in the post.

Is there a similar price version that would plug into my 1990s Marantz amp’s aux socket?

20 years ago I didn’t have any cycling shoes either, I just wore trainers in my toeclips.

Then I started reading bike mags and found sites like this.

    It’s a slippery slope, eh?

This is kind-of my job, as well as a personal challenge for me like everyone.

The best “hack” I can offer for you is to put the exercise in the same mental category as work.

So it’s not something you would like to do, or think would be nice if it happened – it’s something you have to do.

Then when you’ve done it for a while, it’ll be a habit and you’ll know how to make it happen.

    Also:

    – Make plans with pals for accountability

    – Get your gear ready the night before

    – Find exercise you actually enjoy doing (or run ‘cos it’s convenient)

I’ve been saying for ages, I reckon the authorities are ignoring the blatantly illegal Deliveroo bikes because they’re too scared of the backlash from the lazy sods who get fast food delivered in the first place.

Just wait until one wipes out a baby robin’s face, etc.

I’m not following. I’d reason that the edge blocks on a squarer tyre begin to load up at lower lean angles. This is echoed by remarks in the article I linked in the OP.

I’m not talking about specific lean angles, just that a squarer tyre gives you more of an edge to work with – especially on soft ground.

Yep I’d be more hesitant about squared tyres for fast or bike park stuff where you’re riding more dynamically and pushing on a bit.

Yes, I suggested that three weeks ago, thinking about bike park kind of trails:

Rounder tyres can feel more predictable in firmer conditions, especially loose-over-hard.
