I think, roverpig, that is my ultimate downfall.

Choosing a Red XC above the snow – line, after a blue boardwalk disaster, May have contributed to the misery. And the push up…. And the river incident….

Guaranteed I’ll go on a bridle way bimble tomorrow and wish I’d booked the Glentress bike bus.

Grew up being driven on that road every day for almost 18 years.

    Have never cycled it.

    Never ever ever will.

To the “old hands”, I suppose days like today is bankable suffering to prove that it is always mind over matter.

And after watching those XC skiers, there’s worse!

Absolutely deluded. I started to loathe that, looking to fill time, I just opened the Guardian all and absorbed the bile.

I never watch tv news or buy a newspaper . The penny also dropped this week on the fact Radio 4, Today especially, consider Scotland an extra-terrestrial plain.

I don’t NEED to know anything.

Twitter is on it’s last leg for me also, wondered if there were any redeeming reasons to keep it .

Al Jazeera & Russia Today certainly have an…. Eastern perspective.

    Ignorance is bliss anyway.

The only reason I stay out on these rides is for character building. Strengthening my mental fortitude.

I’ve 100% had my worst crashes persevering through “this is shit” days.

Better than work. And I saw a huge bird of prey.

Until WC season I pretend dirt doesn’t exist.

The opinions contained within mean nowt to me, utter glossy waffle.

Witherspoons haggis topped hotdog, 12 onion rings and what will become 8 pints of the on tap Californian Session Ale.

Then some ItBox action arguments with Mrs C.

Never spent so little time riding on a Fort Bill holiday but crikey I’m gluttonous.

    100% crankboy.

I suppose I’m fearful that being angry , hostile and specific with my arguments will have negative consequences.

This isn’t a precursor to some socialist propaganda, it is just very clear that the dissenting fury of people like me will not be tolerated in the slightest. Bad.

    Harassment/ persistence? Natch

Sitting in my mums 3 bottles of wine down because bringing the bike to Fort Bill in Feb was a stupid thing to do.

Going up Nevis Range at 8 to sweat it out and ride whatever doesn’t have a tree on it.

Or shuttle run fire roads pretending I’m Ben Reid/sam hill etc.

    Or be sick.

Just poked Mrs C in the head to make sure she was awake.

    Got punched.

My minimum wage job allows me to ride my bikes 4 hours a day.

    Life’s hard, I’m happy.

Might start a family, work harder, cycle less. As I see it, suffer the breaks.

On a bit of a hyperbole crankboy and am very much fumbling for a solid position on the matter.

You’ve touched upon another point though, when is it illegal to be intimidating, belligerent and “offensive”. Where’s the line?

New or not I believe it’s wrong.

    Thankyou greatape for info.

In this day and age, as an “angry young man” what is one supposed to do with this fury ’cause I don’t see any motivational, constructive revolt anywhere.

I’m often in the frame of mind to criticize, abuse and denigrate prominent political figures but have no other forum than social media and feel restricted by the state.

One of ny most treasured conversations is with a man who had a fight which concluded in murder.

Your colleague killed a person, not a “cyclist”, and will share their life with that fact.

    Context covers all.

    gwaelod: good point.

I had that Cradle Of Filth “Jesus is a ****” tshirt in my youth.

My position is that I feel I could be prosecuted for stating that as a personal belief of fact.

Or, has anyone played “entrapment” with themselves to goad GCHQ/CPS with a litany of “offensive” tweets…. As an experiment?

Haven’t done anything myself, but I have deleted tweets after thinking… Someone won’t like that.

Which is wrong and makes me very, very angry.

Is there a successful legal precedent where someone has argued that offense is subjective?

I know nothing of “law”, please excuse my poor use of random words.

Mrs C is very “independent woman” and was having no mincing about the skills section while I failed at “cycling 101”.

So she followed me round the 10 under route, fell off thrice, got a fright, had a laugh, got back on and has been bitten by the bug ever since.

In her words “not being scared to fall off is the best feeling ever”.

    Love ‘er, I do.

Same reasons as Ton, and I’m sure Al wherever he is.

The caliper can be disassembled and rebuilt in minutes. A well set up system offers excellent stopping power while replacing cables/pads costs hee haw. And I can pull my brake lever with the bike vertical without instigating a bleed. Etc.

    What instructions?

Someone at work asked if I wanted to do The Barnardos Challenge.

I said yea, bought a Carrera Vulcan and the rest is two-wheeled history.

Three years on, never been prouder to let cycling define me.
