@submarined I only have Blackspire or Renthal rings on bikes, last check they were £60 or so. I don’t ride enough anymore to grind through them like i used to so I’ll eliminate that from the worry list.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled. I haven’t heard anything from police about my theft from Polwarth but they certainly seem to target specific areas and know they’re stuff.

It’s a 2017 Marin Nail Trail 9 and I can’t find the spec anywhere that tells me the current BB spec so I am a bit confused

Thanks for the tyre advice, I really do love a good DHf & rear. I think in this day and age i’ll be struggling to go back to singlespeed mountainbiking. The one thing I will hanker for is my Zee cranks so that’ll be the first thing to go on with Saint pedals for some added familiarity.

The Marin. I need forks and a frame that will take at least 5 years and several rounds of components and I simply couldn’t find anything that came close in value.

I also get to try modern things like super short stems and dropper posts. And gears. Never had any of those before. It’s time for a “Single speeder gets gears” thread.

To add of my own experience, locked up with a kryptonite cable and gold level padlock by the cash machine below the security camera at Scotmid.
They just cut through the padlock. Have head several reports of them battering folk round the head with the bolt cutters if disturbed.
Hopefully only a matter of time before they’re caught but if I lived in the area, I’d have the bike in the bedroom for now.
