Just out of interest Matt, how much do they charge these days for a 30 and 60 point course ?

I did a degree and MBA with the OU. As mentioned above the biggest challenge was managing the time required to do the study and write up assignments. It’s 10 years since I finished so guess the use of the Web etc has gone up a few notches. Not sure if they run the week long summer schools anymore, they were the most enjoyable part for me.

You showed a lot of restraint bol, if I saw a wasp stealing my cod it’d get battered.

I’ve gone from 29 to 27.5 but the change from Spesh Camber to YT Capra means that the wheel size change is the least notable difference.

the thing that might take the edge off the ride, at this time of year, is the number of walkers.

The velcro on my left hand biking glove keeps coming undone while riding, very annoying. Just had what would have been a nice ride in the lakes, but having to keep refastening the glove took the shine off it.

Driving over to the lakes, then walking from Windermere to Hawkshead via several pubs.

    A Jiffy bag might work.

I’ve got the option of the update. Currently using Windows 7 on a 5 year old Dell.

    2 daft questions –

    1. Will my installed applications still be there after the upgrade ?
    2. Is it worth going from 7 to 10 on my machine (subjective this one I suppose)

All day XC? Do you really need knee pads for that?

Only if you fall off 😳

I wish I had space to build a OO layout to run my collection of BR blue loco’s. It’ll have to be a hobby of the future.

I’ve got the G form knee/shin pads. They’re comfortable and unobtrusive.

    Listening to music.
    Playing the guitar.
A bit of cooking when I’m allowed.
Go to the gym a few times a week.
Beer and web porn (The downturn in the oil industry means I’ve had to knock the coke and hookers on the head for the time being)

In a classic case of bolting the stable door I’ve got elbow/shin/knee pads and a vest from G form. All very unobtrusive so no problem wearing them. I wear them if I’m going to do a ride that’s more Enduro than XC.

Of course the one time I didn’t, when it was really hot a month ago, I ended up in A & E to get my elbow stitched up.

Get the cable car up to mount Faber from Sentosa island, do that for when the sun goes down.
Arab street/Haji lane area is good early evening.
Go to China town and visit the Buddha tooth relic temple. Remember to go upstairs for the actual Buddha tooth temple.
    Little india.
    Geylang road on an evening.
Marina bay sands hotel infinity pool if you can get up there.
Long bar at Raffles for an expensive Singapore sling (it’s not the original bar but I suppose you need to go) eat as many free peanuts as you can.
The original Singaporean tourist attraction- tiger balm gardens.
    Newton circus food court.
Down to the river for loads of bars, food, nightclubs, but you could be anywhere in the world in them, same as the shopping malls.
Orchard towers is worth going to for the experience.
Good cheap food all over the place.

I stayed at the Carlton hotel last time I went, well located in the middle of things and near an mrt station.

Jurassic Shift, I’ve got that somewhere on CD. I’ll have to dig it out for a listen. Try a bit of Steve Hillage or Hawkwind. Someone recommended Ozric Tentacles to me because I like them.

Ring them up and ask. The Durham passport office I go to are always very helpful and obliging. I reckon that they’ll renew a kids passport quickly if you need it.
