The gym near me got rid of their Concept 2’s and replaced them with the Technogym machines. I was so disappointed with the new machines I bought my own Concept 2. I didn’t like the Technogym at all, the rowing action/feel was kind of OK but not quite right, the settings over complicated and as mentioned already you can’t program it properly, some intervals are possible but you need to faff about hooking it up to an app on your phone.

It cost me but it’s worked out great for lockdown. Concept 2 all the way for me.

Ordering wise I know that there’s currently a 15 week waiting list for a new one.

It depends on what music you want to play, but without knowing that I’d say YES you need an electric guitar, but I think everyone should have one :)

I’m going along with the idea that our excuse for a government want the background noise behind BoJo for PMQs. Anything to try and hide his total lack of ability.

If I’d had a possible heart attack it would be a toss up between ringing 111(or even 999) or waiting a week and then seeking advice on a mountain biking forum 😗

Top ten leader board is good enough for me, I just like to compare myself to Danny Hart :)

I’ve got a Blackstar HT5 that I like a lot. Sounds good with my SGs as well.

At this stage. I’d resign after admitting that I’d made a complete mess of what I’d done so far.

It’s a good point about riding the “paths” carefully, especially now that we have loads of extra people wandering about on daily exercise. I’ve had to come to an abrupt stop several times per ride recently. The newer walkers in the woods are more intrepid and are getting everywhere. Steep and techy single-track is no barrier.

A bunch of idiots who actually believe that staying at home for 6 weeks (apart from daily walks/runs/bike rides etc) is the equivalent of the hardship of WW2. If we’re going to be a laughing stock on the world stage we might as well do it properly.

I don’t think much single track is designated as a footpath or bridleway. Ride it.

I’m looking forward to buying some home gym gear after the Corona virus lock down eases off. There’s going to be stacks of stuff second hand after everything available was bought up.

    My gym currently consists of:
    A Concept 2 rowing machine.
A ledge over the stairs for pullups.
A rake hanging from a rope harness for inverted rows.

    Workouts have been:
Bodyweight strength and conditioning. eg Pushups/Split squats. Pullups/SLDL. Pike pressups. Rows. Core.
8x250m intervals rowing with pushups/pullups in the rest interval (This is harrowing :) )

Mixed with responsible MTB rides (I finally cracked on the last ride and hit the single track again)

I have a kettlebell on its way, after finally finding one that wasn’t ridiculously priced.

Saltburn is good enough for me :)
Great trails right on the doorstep at Errington woods. The surfing looks OK (but I don’t go in the North Sea) Looks like the surfers use the pier as their equivalent of an uplift if that helps :)
    Pleasant woods/beach/cliffs as a bonus.

“If a man, woman or any other non binary being sit outside by a lake trying to catch fish for the day with a rod reel and tackle but they catch nothing is that person fishing or just sitting?”

I’m only seeing one person Phishing fishing on this thread OP :)

I’m limiting myself to safe riding so just looking forward to getting back on the local single-track sections first and foremost.

The common sense approach for me, riding around the woods/paths etc but missing out the single track rad stuff.
Loads of people out walking/running/riding, it’s more like a holiday vibe than a serious health crisis.

The advice I’m continually trying to give myself – Try and stay off the brakes, especially the front one.

Red + a play about at Dixon’s Hollow jump area is what I normally do.
Some of the off piste is really good but you need to find it and work it into a coherent route, it’s hard if you’re not familiar with the place, mainly cos it’s so big and featureless.

    Typically it would be :
    A cheese and ham sandwich.
    A Lion bar.
    A banana.
    Water to wash it down.

You need a concept 2 really. Much better in my opinion. Cheaper ones are a false economy.

Would also say that if you’re new to rowing spend a few weeks just doing straight rows to suss the technique and build some basic fitness up.

    Pete plan

The Pete plan linked above is worth looking at. I follow a lighter version of it when I’m away with work by stripping it to 3 sessions a week. The intervals + an 8k.

You could do that or cherry pick the intervals. 8 X 500m with 3.5 min rest is my favourite. It’s gets pretty challenging if you follow the protocol suggested to keep increasing your pace. But you’ll supercharge your fitness.

    No HRM required.

Unless the bike is really covered in mud/loam/etc I just clean the drive chain. If I have washed the whole bike I just leave it out in the wind for a while to dry off.

It sounds more like a good idea as a way of joining 2 separate parts of future EU regions.

When I had Guides I used to bleed them as per the SRAM video on YouTube. Used to work out ok.
