Clasgow Council have done work up there for the coming games but you have to remember that they have to be careful of possible litigation in the event that somebody takes a header. If it’s a couple of hours and your going that way anyway then whats to loose :-)

Best of luck. Are you intending to do the section from Inversnaid to the top of the loch; I’ve heard it’s not very nice 8O

Cheers Alan, I still can’t come to terms with the fact that I managed 5 laps ,including the first one and stayed upright on the ice, ghetto ice 29er tyres were good but not great. I then can’t cycle across a level Bridge??? I mean what’s that all about.
It never fails to amaze me at how fast some guys are, no matter the conditions, did you see the lap times for the fast guys, staggering, they’re going uphill faster than i can come down :-)
Glad you guys had a good one, You’ve got to applaud Pairs and Solos., Quads is hard enough. I had thought that this would be my swansong, but now…As one of my mates said “I’ve got unfinished issues with that Bridge”
    Cheers

Sorry Pitto, got the other poster confused with you, as I was sorting the bike a couple of guys offered aid, which is also typical of the spirit of the puffer. Thanks for taking the time to stop at the bridge and at the Aid Station, it was very much appreciated.
The fall was a bit of a “life flashing before your eyes” moment :-)

Yea Kbrembo, that was me, still have got no idea about I managed to fall off a bike, to the side, drop how ever many feet to the ground landing on my back and side , and manage to cut my eye lid??? Oh and also turn my exposure light through 180 deg on the handlebar mount, and turn the handlebar mount through 180 deg on the bars???
Thanks again though for stopping and making sure I was good to go.
And before I get mor pelters from my teammates- a big thanks to them for carrying me through another Puffer- I just feel so pampered after the event

It was definately my own fault- I remember somebody saying to me years ago, ” commit to the move”! Well there are times when that does not apply :-). What was the “school boy error”? I do remember telling the nurse the “I’m the ar…ole who can’t ride over a bridge” :D though.

Also 719’s here, not sure about weight. They were the cheapest welded rim I could find.
I was told that Bontrager/Trek are not doing rims over here as they are pushing the wheelsets. A certain other mag said that Novatec TX’s were very good, best thet’d ever tested, 950g F, 1115g R

Just thought , if you do a search for Mugdock in the forum search engine, somebody put a map up with some stuff on it. It was a bit hard to follow but it would give you a starter for ten.

    Hi there
Start from Costa's and follow the way under the bridge and approx 300m take the left then immediate right, follow this to the bomb hole, fun.
Continue out on the way past the metal bridge on the left, follow the Allander water, approx 150m after the bridge take the right up the hill. This takes you to the top of Drumclog Moor and there is lots of stuff all round here that you can put into loops.
Back down on the way you'll pass over a small bridge that opens out onto a flatish bit of ground with a golf course on the other side of the Allander. Keep tight to the river and this takes you to "Riverside" lovely bit. At the end of riverside you're spat onto the road that takes you up the Kyber Pass You can either follow this up to the Visitors centre and play in the woods to the left just before you get there (top of a different moor) or you can continue out the Way past the loch then the huts and look for the gate on the right at the last hut that takes you up Rossies Road. There is stuff in the woods all round here but it can be hard to find (and harder to describe)
Going out to Dumgyone is good if you want some miles but if its playing But still requiring effort, then I wouldn't go beyond the bottom of Rossie's.
Have fun . There is lots in a small area if you keep your eyes open.

What a great community this is. Reading the forum during lunch; had been thinking about a wingnut pack; gave Spokeshirt a call; Hyper 2.5 on its way.
Thanks to Alistair at spokeshirt, friendly help, good advice.
    Cheers all

Spoke to him at the finish line , he came across as a nice guy, said that he felt a bit of a fraud being taken to hospital as he felt it was a bit much.
I'm quite sure that as he was "working", his employer would have insisted that he be checked out to cover themselves for insurance reasons.
i know that the bannter on here is mostly lighthearted but as has already been said , at least he out there trying.

There is a trail in Mugdock named Flux……………….. apparently one of the guys helping to craft it had his Flux bent when a tree fell on it?????? Wouldn’t catch me on one…. I mean you wouldn’t catch me! :-)

Sorry, only just read this post.

    Uplink, who’s Elvis?

JMC, i didn’t know him, never saw him race but was really saddened at the news of his death. He was already brilliant and was only going to get faster and better.

[The big difference is that Glentress has much longer climbs and descents],much, much longer! If you can clean the last “wall” up to the fire road at the end of deliverance, then you will be a mountainbiker my son!!!

Big Al or Dave at Alpine. I remember asking Al if some rim, can’t remember what it was, would build into a strong but reasonably light wheel, “ah, you’ll be wanting the spaghetti rim then” cheeky sod!

    Bob,
I have the good fortune to work for The Great and the Good of this Green Place and assisted in the planning of the trails and the ride to check their suitability with respect to the gradings for GCC, signs were put up at the time although I cann’t say if they are still there. I will take your concerns forward to our Cycling Section but I agree with Sanny.
The good news is that apparently the park were concerned at the concept stage but are now totaly sold on the idea, also work will be starting soon (if not already underway) at Cathkin Braes in prep for the Commomwealth Games, I’ve seen the plans and they look good.
