Ahh, longhorn beetles do pretty much the same, behaviourally. You may find them all hiding somewhere warm, being thoroughly disgruntled that they were fooled into hatching early!

Any pics for an id? Sounds like an ichneumon wasp or horntail emerging from your dry logs. They can take up to four years to reach the adult form, then they bore their way out when the temps are good, usually summer., so there may be more in there.

They only lay eggs in live trees, at certain heights, at certain orientations, so I would not worry about them attacking the furniture!

Make sure that they have an easy way outside, as they can chew their way through pretty much anything to reach freedom.

16kg is considerably more than my mates which is around 13kg after a few upgrades (medium frame).

You sure that you haven’t filled the seat tube with water when washing it?!

    How accurate are the scales?

We have had this problem all the time at our accessible cycle group. Probably the best and cheapest option that we have found is to use a Nexus hub in conjunction with the ST-7S20 Nexus shifter.

The shift lever is on a rocker so that it can be operated either way with an arm, elbow, stump, prosthetic, ect. Has a really light action too.

If mounted as in  the picture but more level with the bars, you can just use the heel of the hand to knock it sideways or down without taking your hand from the bar.

Looks nice, but why the chainstay disc mount?

After this winters muddy commuting on a PX london road with a similar setup, that has put me right off!

It’s almost like when Metallica decided to cover their 50 year old bald spots with beanies and be ‘down wit tha yoof’ by going nu-metal for that single, disastrous album.

STW seems to be ditching it’s USP within the market and going for short term clicks and likes in order to boost rankings and revenue.
Which is fine, I suppose, just a shame.

That is so terrible that it has to be a bit tongue in cheek, surely?

Really nice, are they not, Trekster. We were really tempted by them, but an unpassable deal came up on a 2k mile pro ceed gt line-s in the correct colour and full 7 yr warrenty, and bloody hell, newer models and specs have come on leaps and bounds over the previous ones! Really didn’t expect it to be so.. nice!

What makes some feel that an animals life is worth more than plants life? Or those who will only eat an animal if it is aquatic and has no legs?
I’m doing my bit for equality. I will eat anything!

About an eighth of a sterilising tablet swilled around the inside and emptied out before storage seems to work for me. Freezer works too, but there never seems to have room…

I don’t mind change, but this is just another step towards Idiocracy (the film, that is).

But as mentioned above, these headlines generate new traffic and clicks from the type of people that respond to that writing style, whilst others have pointed out that they have a tendency to ignore clickbait titles as worthless articles with a big bow on top.

So what happens when the only people clicking these articles do so because of the title, and probably, to just look at the pictures :D
Meanwhile, your beautifully written, 3000 word piece is actually read by nobody, as those who may actually have more than a passing interest never click, on account of the bollocks titles.

I have both and the terrex are way more svelte than 5:10s.
Really want to try these but not a chance that they will fit a size 47

Well, I was going to agree about the amount of bollocks preceding the fgf articles, but that is nothing new (or original).
But, I hesitate to type any bollocks of complaint for fear of adding to the prevalent bollocks of editorial standards, and general forum based gonads, creating a supermassive black hole of testicular pointlessness.
I met Chipps many years back as he was explaining that Stw mag was a serious publication, for those who want a break from the constant youthful gnarr of mbuk. Oh how times have changed :D

We bought a 2012 Proceed (facelift) model as an approved used from Kia as it had five years warranty left. Really can’t do much but echo exupmonkey above. Great car, no real problems and fantastic dealer service.
The warranty just ran out on ours so we picked up the new ’17 version and by heck, it is lovely compared to its rivals! Spec list is unbeatable for the price and the new 1.6cdri is a massive upgrade on the previous 1.4 petrol.

Had one as a courtesy car while the c’eed was repaired after a bump and rather liked it. Much preferred it to my friends corsa of a similar age. Was only a weeks test, though.
Otherwise, our kia has been great, as have the dealers.

Edit: it was a 1.4cdi I think. Pulled far better than expected on the motorway.

Schwalbe 2.4 Big Betty’s are aptly named, plus Conti Trailking in 2.4 is also pretty true to size.

Well that backs me up, Northwind. Mine are 2011 the ones as well. Cracking brakes.

jesus, I can barley afford new pads! As for new brakes, had the same (awesome) set of brakes on my main bike since 2011 and they have not needed bleeding yet. Still feeling great too :-)

Edit: Just noticed that you mentioned Avids. Great fun to bleed, they are! Bin might be the best option after all …

Got two, like them very much. Rear coverage is good, one piece mesh liner is easy to remove and refit for cleaning and it vents well.
Only downside is the non adjustable straps(the bit under the ear), but they fit fine so only an issue if you have odd ears, I suppose.

So no one is joining in with our local community ride in Langley, Middleton, then?
Have already stocked up on biscuits and brew stuff to keep me occupied in the event that no one turns up!
Plus I have to commute there from Milnrow, so regardless, I’m going to get damp …

Got an Ardent Exo on the back of the hardtail and a Continental Trailking Protection on the front. The Conti is the tougher (and heavier) tyre.

Cheers Bill, really want some of these for commuting but they are not available for anything bigger than a ten :(
Here’s hoping that bigger sizes are in the pipeline.

They are fast, timid and almost exclusively nocturnal. Difficult to train and quick to anger. However, they can form close relationships, usually with one person and they are hilariously daft and fun.
Be aware that they live for ages compared with most small rodents, too.

For entertainment I would go with a gerbil, for companionship I would go rat.

Also, Gerbils seem to require cleaning out much more often as they ‘mark’ spots with urine, whereas other rodents tend to create specific toilet areas.

Would love to go for a ride mate, but I live a bit far away!

I’m in a similar situation too, my only real friend has two wheels.
I occasionally wonder about this, but then, I might just be an unlikable tosser. Hard to know for sure without feedback, though :-)

Order opiliones, not actually a member of the Araneae(spider) family. They have little mandibles to consume their prey or foodstuffs, rather than sucking them up like spiders.

Also, they are quite interesting, behaviourally. I remember watching a large one take on the cat and win in a stand off over the food bowl. It looked like it knew exactly what it was doing..

Yours looks like a male Odiellus spinosus
