“It appears we just got Banksy-ed,” said Alex Branczik, Sotheby’s senior director and head of contemporary art in Europe.

Yeah, right after helping to find an appropriately hidden power outlet.

I was told that the bad smelling stage is common when beginning a starter as there is a point when bacterial growth exceeds the rate of yeast growth, until the yeast reaches a point where it makes the environment too acidic for most bacteria to reproduce, whereby the yeasts take over.

Unfitgeezer, no offence, but I think that you need to reread Alpins post. Nobody compared Israel to Nazis, nor suggested that a single individual was representative for the views of a nation.

Yes, assuming that you have the correct chain length. F chainring size is pretty irrelevant as it is the exactly same amount of chain slack during gear changes that is taken up by the derailleur as before.

Seriously? You lot need to find a more appropriate outlet for this crap.

Very common issue with the xct range. They have a plastic insert that acts as a bushing and it is replaceable, however first you need to find a set online, then have it fitted by your lbs, probably with other work too as you mention seals leaking, then you are back to having a 60 quid fork that works for a short period of time until they wear out again.

Personally, I would save the cash and look for a good condition secondhand fork with a better build quality. You can get a set of  Rockshox Recons or even Rebas for around the hundred quid mark.

Might be easier looking for a diy snowglobe kit of the same size and just replacing the glass.

Sometimes, CZ. Those little inch wide diamond sharpeners are really good for them

Imagine them like a really steep angled chisel.  Use a stone and work from the outside towards the cutting edge to create slight overhanging burr, then, take the first cut on a bit of card or a few sheets of paper to remove excess swarfey bits. Work really flat and slow. If you gouge or round the cutting edge they are hard to bring back again!

If they have worn loose at the pivot, they can often be peened tight again with a few taps of a hammer.

Also, beware of the cutting wet and dry/ foil tips. It doesn’t really work that well and risks buggering the blades by making it convex through abrading the inner face. Same reason that you sharpen a chisel on the angle towards the edge, rather than grinding it from the underside!

Just out of interest, I would like to donate to the site, but don’t really want a premier sub.

Would STW towers rather me sign up for a year as premier for business reasons or could I just donate the same amount via Paypal?

All ads, facebook crap, trackers and third party cookies and scripts are blocked on this site anyway, so there is no real reason for me to buy a sub, unless the actual number of subs sold has some benefit to our illustrious overlords or something.

And yeah, as said above, the emoji panel has buggered off.

Everyone used to recommend Lux soap flakes for cleaning as it was brilliant, but they seem to me long gone now.

Been using Wilko liquid soap flakes and it is pretty much identical, but liquid.

Cleans well, rinses out really well with no residue. Just be sure to clean out all the old soap reside from the washer before you start, or easier, do it by hand in a clean sink.

so did medical science get it wrong

No, medical science did not get involved really, but the scaremongering media did.

Also, Starling populations seem to be remaining constant, despite regularly roosting on masts and antennas.

Drac must have the special secret search function, as I get no results either.

    Forums>Search: ‘last thing you made”

    No forum results, only articles.

Edit: If I then go to either chat or bike forum, I get a second search box appear that searches via google, but that gives no results at all for me. Ahh well.

Just had a look and a few things might put me off, it’s generally a rather negative reading advert.

Spelling mistakes in the ad bug me for some reason.  The description mentions wheel dings but there are no photos to assess the damage. You mention a choice of springs for the fork, why not offer them all, they are dirt cheap after all.

Rear brake needs bleeding which might put some off a little. Easily remedied by you sorting it, though.

Very brief list of components. People might like to know what is on the bike that they might be buying?

One solitary photo, blurry and low res.

All really easily changed around by editing the description with a little more detail, a rear brake bleed and a few photos of a freshly washed, well maintained bike.

Don’t mean to sound harsh, but if you are selling something, SELL it!

    The Greasy Strangler

It is truly and intentionally terrible in a way that is quite brilliant, but contains scenes and imagery that will stay with you for life.

    Also, Mayhen (2017)

    Surprisingly entertaining.

Yes on the front (hope floating rotor), but no on the rear (standard avid one that came with them), however, it did greatly reduce it.

The stock ones lacked bite for me, had better luck with Nukeproof sintered but could not get rid of the squeal in the wet, so changed for uberbike race matrix and have much better braking and feel all round.  Seem to be lasting well after six months of daily commute.

I’m also not sure how they will react, as he has a very short temper.

Maybe he knows this and is self medicating to make everyone’s life easier?

Anyway, could be worse. Used to live in a new build flat and could smell the neighbours almost constant gas.

Also, another time I used to live next to some terrible addicts who downed a couple of bottles of Chardonnay or some other fermented fruit drink, every night, followed by an hour or two of idiotic giggling and noise as their choice of poison kicked in and began debilitating their mental functions. They seemed to enjoy it.

Then we had to put up with them dumping the bottles in the wheelie bin at one AM, keeping everyone awake.

Bloody druggies, making personal choices and then expecting a degree of privacy in their own homes.

Adidas and many other brands say that half sizes refer to increased size of the toe box, eg, trailcross in a 47 hurts my toes, 47 1/2 is spot on, but a 48 is too long,

Late April fools prank or something?

Doesn’t look like a real STW site, more of a clickbaity popup ad type thing

Edit: Looks like it is real! Gofar enterprises, ect. Must just be an ad click revenue type thing being waved at the internet in order to increase profits. Not surprised that they said nowt!

    Wheelchair service companies.

£100 for a 5 min callout, handing the mechanically clueless carer a  £148! replacement brake cable and leaving…

Fitting would have been another £50. Can’t help but feel that piss has thoroughly been taken.

Fitted it for him at our accessible bike group in a couple of minutes and gave the chair a quick once over too in an attempt to correct the karmic imbalance.

Never say ‘never’ matey! We work with people of varying levels of physical ability, helping them to access activities that they often think may to be beyond them, including cycling. If you have a working limb, there will be an option

Where there are wheels and a will, there is always a way!

Ever thought about handbikes? They are great fun!

Rigged an old one up to act as a media device for work where there is only a radio player on the PA system and the line-in is broken. The tom tom can broadcast over FM, so it can be used as a media player which can be tuned into by radios in proximity.
