I doubt that the advertising revenue is that notable.
However, I do occasionally disable and click a few. Makes more sense to me as most ads return more revenue for clicks, rather than traffic exposure.

But they are still getting out of hand. As mentioned, many browse on older gear which is simply not capable of handling all the crap that gets wedged into many sites these days.

Anyway, I occasionally buy an actual paper copy of STW. It has a special place in my heart as I may have been in the very first issue!

Edit. Might have been the second issue actually. Met Chipps and a photographer up on t’moors many years ago and posed for a pic holding the mag :-)

That is the real reason I did. Slower laptops have issues with the amount of flash used in modern ads. Can’t handle 720p video too well either!

    There are adverts?

First I have heard of it!
Just had a look and not much info about..

Well, all the stuff in the trees was flattened a few months ago and sanitised.. However, there are still a few (slightly overgrown at the mo) twisty bits down from the top pylon on the hill near tunshill crossroads and a couple of little kickers off the rocky track down from the Rams Head.
The path from the radio tower back to the crossroad is the next target, particularly the broken brick and smashed glass section which really needs a little bypass around the right hand side. There is a small drop off on that descent too, off the banking on the left.

The descent from the Edge to windyhill really is a prime target, though. It is mostly wide enough to throw bits in unnoticed, making it a bit more jumpy here and there

That’s the one, Brant. There is room for ‘improvement’ most of the way down the top bit, if anyone wants to ‘dig in’ and help :-)

I was just over there an hour ago. I like that one too :-)
There are some more sneaky little bits on the descent past Whittaker Golf course and more around Ogden reservoirs, if you look closely!

    Another vote for Bluenile.
Choose something nice from their Signature range and have a ring designed for it.

The seat is a little low as it was her first try on it, but it fits her just fine! I did worry about that at first, but I can ride it comfortably with the seat up and she is a good deal shorter than I.

@ Teamslug. How the hell do you know ‘desperate Dolly’? 8O
She only moved in a month ago..
Also, I recommended that the ‘bush’ needed work but she just closed the curtains…

Short arms, mate! Hence the need for a small frame!

This colour scheme (or lack of) came about entirely by accident. Bought a frame to replace a broken full suss and everything I had that fit seemed to be either black or black and red :-)

Used to use a plastic bag, but then I wandered into SportsDirect and found Karrimor drybags for three quid!

Fits a wallet, phone and first aid kit easily.

Best, most fun route up there. First did that about the same age as your little ones and loved it.

Cheers for the info RDL, will have to get round to mailing them on the off chance that they can help as I have no idea where I originally bought it from!
Tbh, it has not seen that much use for the time I have had it.

The cool iron thing does work, but only to a degree. Mine needed reproofing afterwards.
Great jacket, but the care instructions are vague to say the least.

Test ironed mine on a sleeve with different settingsto find out what a ‘cool’ iron was! Turns out that it worked best at setting two from the bottom…
How that relates to temperature I have no idea.

I have been meaning to email Endura to ask about the procedure and also to see if they can do anything to help with the stitching above the breast pocket which has begun to come loose.

Love the jacket though. Not as breathable as many, but has enough vents to make up for it.

    *Ahem..*

Also, the oil level should measured from the top of the stanchion tube, not the thread bit in the crown, apparently.

Oil type and levels are in the ‘tuning tips’ section, btw.

Some say that he farts into every package that he ships…

Tbh, he has a quite extensive online footprint, so there would be no problem tracking him down with bombers in hand if things went the way of the big bottomed fruit..

Also, he probably doesn’t fart into things..

    But he might.

    Scenario A, pretty much.
Probably a good idea to get eyes-on as early as possible given that large planes are basically winged destruction in the wrong hands.

But also partly B. Good FLIR footage can be useful in the event that something does happen.

Well, I can vouch for the Bfe after having it as my main bike for a couple of months as it is lovely to ride with a great geometry.
Size wise, get a long post and go for something slightly smaller than normal. I would normally take an 18-20 inch frame, but I picked up a 17.5 and it fits fine.
Did consider the Soul, but wanted something a little tougher.

As for the forks, I will be replacing a poorly 130mm with a nice new 140mm, so it is well within the recommended range for the frame.

Just imagine this with new Revs in black. Mmmm
(Stem is a little high here! Looks a bit daft)

Rochdale here, just saw a couple of fast jets heading over Blackstone edge.
Saw a pair of AH-64’s out playing last weekend, too!

Must be because it is Airshow season.

A bmx at 6ft2 feels a bit odd after riding a mtb for years!
First set of doubles I hit and I nearly did an involuntary backflip :o
You should probably go with a jump bike unless you have a BMX background as you will find it far more usable.

I do love my bfe but the forks are dead, so I ordered those forks from crc yesterday! Great minds, and all that!

Whatever you do, remember that if take Adderall before a ride it makes it… kind of hard to stop :D

I can accept drivetrain wear as I live in a very sandy and gritty area, but four weeks for a set of formula pads, from start to finish is a bit silly!
Then I tried uberbike ones and they are coping fine :?

Can’t work that out, as the original pads were twice the price..

So, yeah, some stuff seems to have a much shorter lifespan than other offerings (glances over to the never serviced and running perfectly mid 90’s xt hub)

Suppose bearing life is based on correct fitting, not overloading them, regular greasing and maintenance.

    In theory, at least..

My xt bb is starting to go after a couple of months. And my rear hub seems to require new bearings regularly, possibly due to a slightly misaligned cup on the freehub side.

And bushes.. Don’t get me started on bushes! Really glad that I have gone hardtail now :-)

I live ten mins from Royton/Shaw area, over in Milnrow It’s not too bad tbh, as long as you stay away from Rochdale and Oldham centres (grim). In between the two is lovely, with some great local loops and plenty of starting points for much longer rides as the whole area is bordering the moors.

Totally irrelevant. Like most of this thread.

So, about that original question, then…

    The U.N? Geneva convention?

    Anyone?

Tis a variety of ichneumon wasp.
Most are parasitic. The thing on the back is an ovipositor, used to plant the eggs. They don’t actually sting, though.
