I’ve got a calor gas cylinder that I chain the bikes to. It’s big, cumbersome, and would take an awful lot of hacksawing as it has 2 handle holes and another hole in the top that the chain loops through.

clear I could do. I think it’s a contrast thing, darker mugs make the tea look weak.

I’ve just made a cuppa in a grey mug, it looks weak and crap…and I could swear it tastes different.

by buying the dog you are supporting the trade. the dog did not start life with a reputable breeder, if it did, it would/should be returned to the breeder.

Utter balls. Sorry. If you buy a puppy from a puppy farm, then yes you are supporting the trade. If you buy a dog from someone who cannot/will not look after it you are saving the thing from a possible life of misery.

    @squirrelking

Generally people charge a fee to put off those that just want a free dog. If you really want the dog, the fee won’t matter.

This is George. He came from preloved. He was 3, so not from a puppy farm. He was just too playful and too needy for an elderly couple and their autistic daughter to cope with. They looked after him, but only walked him 200 yards a day. He needs about 4 hours exercise and play a day really.

Make sure the dogs been chipped, and had its jabs. Buy the seller – see the dog in it’s current environment and see how it behaves, look for evidence of destructive behaviour (unless you’re prepared to accept this and work with this) make sure it’s house trained. Ask to take it for a walk with them, see if it’s good off the lead and comes back. If you’ve got kids, take the kids with you, see how it reacts to them. If you’ve already got a dog, take it with you, see if they’re likely to get on.

I doubt you’ll be the strangest dressed there to be honest.

    Try 1000 mile socks.

+1. Had a constant blister problem in my latest pair of Lowa boots and switching to these worked a treat.

Seat Leon FR Diesel? Plenty of power, shed loads of torque. VW running gear.

Just look on ebay for a secondhand motorcycle security chain, they go quite cheaply because nobody wants to post them. Find one local and collect. £10-£20 should do it.

I’d travel to my local rescue centre to adopt my next dog.

See my post above, he was rescued by us, but not locally, we are his 4th home at the tender age of 3. :-)

What you most likely have are internal brick walls which have been plastered.
Over time the plaster loses it’s grip on the wall and becomes boss – comes away slightly leaving a hollow void between the plaster and the wall. . THis is the hollow sound you’re hearing and the cause of your undulating walls.
The solid areas are where the plaster has held.

I think this is it. I’m going to have to be brave and drill a hole I think.

When I say solid areas I mean 3ft square patches that are rock hard/solid and then big areas of hollow sounding wall.

The walls are a little undulating, so I suspect it’s not modern plaster board.

My old sky booster (little white square box) didn’t work with my new BT Router (although I didn’t spend much time trying)Instead, I’ve just bought a TP Powerline kit with Wireless, and my wifi is now brilliant all around the house, with anything connection critical getting an ethernet cable to from the nearest powerline adapter.

Get her her own policy and put you 2 as named drivers. The sooner you do that, the sooner she builds a NCB. When I was that age, my parents were kind enough to buy me the car, but I had to pay for insurance tax and maintenance.

Yes, agreed. Hence why I wondered if I should re-plaster with lime to aid the breathing?

I need to ventilate it while I’m not there, but keep it secure at the same time.

water can track all over the place. we had to have our chimney completely re-rendered and leaded last year.

Still wondering if it could be penetrating damp

    cbmotorsport

Damp is not near a chimney. Unfortunately, all the possible obvious and easy to sort causes don’t seem to be the culprit.

Anyone got experience of using a specialist surveyor?

What’s on the other side of the wall?

Sorry, I should have mentioned, I have been into the neighbours house, and there’s nothing on the other side of the wall, and no obvious sign of damp on that side, although it’s papered with woodchip and years of emulsion on top.

Utter dross these days. Used to be good when they were helping to solve crimes as pathologists, but now they’re controlling the whole investigation which is laughable, its so far fetched it’s unwatchable.

I guess they ran out of story lines and had to ramp it up a bit to try and make it interesting.

What is a cyclist then? When does a bloke on the street stop being some random fella and become a cyclist?
I’m not having a pop as it’s a genuine question. A scrote on a bike is a cyclist at that point in time, as am I. I then change to a driver when I get in the car and a resident when sitting on my sofa.
I agree on two points, he was indeed a scrote and the press do like to fuel hate for cyclists. But what is a cyclist?

If the guy had been on foot and had run past and kicked the child, in his jeans and hoody, would the headline have been ‘Jogger sought….’ No.

That’s not a cyclist, that’s some scrote riding a bike.

It still amazes me that people do this sort of thing. I have a healthy respect and admiration for our Emergency/Essential Service personnel. I cannot fathom any scenario where I would say a cross word, let alone assault one of their members in the line of duty. We are very quick to rely on them when our luck runs out.

Sorry, but this guy needs a wake up call, a short prison sentence would probably be a good way of administering that.

They evidently dupe a lot of people and have to return a lot of stuff. Their one person in dispatch has a backlog.

The guys a chump, and it was a daft thing to do, but it wasn’t particularly dangerous. There are loads of distractions in London, if you ride a bike then it goes with the territory and you ignore them, hence why the cyclist didn’t swerve and get squashed by the bus.

Now we hear that they’re planning on coming down for a visit as his work is bringing him down this way for a few days

Would be our preferred option, but then involves telling them they have to stay in a hotel rather than our spare room as they live ~3.5 hours away.

Doesn’t sound like it’s your responsibility to house them to me?

Man, if that’s the extent of your problems just suck it up once or twice a year, it’s family, you can’t do anything about it.

My BIL is a psycho. A few years ago he started shouting and raving at his sister (my other half) and when I stuck up for her (as you would) he tried to fight me. We don’t talk at all.
