i had a black widow catapult when i was younger…parents wouldnt have approved so i kept it hidden in the back yard.
then a mate damaged it so i had to get it fixed…then i got busted by my mum

This. I rode my bike to our local airgun/fishing/outdoor shop and bought a black widow. Kept it hidden for a week, but was so pleased with it, showed it to my dad (who I thought was on my side) he promptly told my mum who embarrassingly marched me back to the shop demanding a refund. They refused as it had been used and she just left it there with them, so I lost my pocket money and the catapult. :-( Still scarred to this day.

Dot and dab will be cheaper and quicker, and less messy, also easy to run your new cables through without having to chase them into the walls. A proper plastering job will require knocking it all back to brick and starting again. Messy, expensive, slow and wet while it dries, but probably better.

‘We’ suggests a larger operation, if it’s important to come across as anything other than a one man band then use we, otherwise ‘I’.

I’m planning to use ‘we’ for my new business as many of my clients will want to know/think they’re dealing with a reasonably sized business.

Always been very pleased with Teng Tools, never had a problem with anything I’ve bought.

If you’re using them purely for your bike, you’ll never generate enough torque to knacker a half decent set, so no need to go crazy.

    Good option Lifetime guarantee too.

Dad was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers 20 years ago. He’s now 82, physically strong as an Ox, but in full time care, he’ll probably go on and on. Mum is 74, fiercely independent to the point of not asking for help with anything and getting into costly jams that could have been avoided with a bit of advice.
She’s still riding horses and falling off regularly, and can’t figure out why she doesn’t bounce anymore. Her latest scheme is to move from the lovely house she renovated and moved into 10 years ago. I’m desperately trying to persuade her not to.
She never calls me, but is the first to moan that she never hears from me if I don’t ring her for a week or two.

Sneakily turn on the basin hot tap after 5 minutes and run away.

Get a nice bed of hot embers from burning smaller stuff, getting the stove nice and hot, and then chuck the bigger stuff in. Mine will burn pretty much anything like that, even damp stuff if i’m desperate, if it does die, I open the door a tiny crack and within a minute or so, it’ll come back.

Also if its multi fuel, those coal briquettes are great for maintaining a hot bed of embers, and they’re usually still going the day after. I chuck 3 or 4 in when I light it.

You’re not actually taking responsibility for him at all if you sack him for minor things which breach your personal values – that’s more like victimising him than taking responsibility for it yourself.

Taking responsibility would be treating him like an adult and having a face to face chat with him about all the issues and giving him right to reply – and listening to it properly, without judgement and without prejudice. And I mean listen – say absolutely nothing whilst he talks…

Show him some leadership and you may find him an awesome employee. Sack him and you teach him that managers will use their power irresponsibly, which will become his long term problem he’s likely to carry around for years and hold his career back.

I’m afraid it shows that you lack management experience but I’ll give you this – you’ve thought enough about it to come on here and engage with those who’ve criticised you for your approach. That suggests you are actually thinking about the negative consequences for this lad of your actions – do more of that before you sack him please.

Oh, and have a word with your employer about giving you some management training. I’ve seen so many weak managers over the years wreck people’s work lives because the manager was given line management responsibility without any training… so please make this your employer’s responsibility to support you too.

    Good luck… I’m sure this isn’t pleasant

    Amen.

Pretty poor. A new bike is a new bike, unless you buy it shop soiled or used, it should be just that brand spankers.

Personally if I wanted something simple and basic,, and not new and flashy, I’d spend 6k on a diesel VW Group car and drive it until it fell to bits.

I’ve just come out the other side of broken/cracked/bruised ribs. December the 12th I fell off at speed into a bank and landed on my side pushing my arm/elbow into my ribs, and I can still feel them now. Couldn’t lie on that side for about the first 8 weeks. Not been on the bike since, although would happily ride now. Nurofen Plus worked well for me in the early stages.

It may have been a coincidence, and everyone says they don’t work, but a neighbour leant me one of those ultrasonic stick in the ground things, and my mole problem went away within a few days.

Gumtree/Pets4Homes would be a good shout though, i’ve seen numerous ads in the past where ‘private’ owners are desperate to rehome.

This is where our chap came from. Genuine rehome as their autistic daughter didn’t like the change of having a dog in the house, they’d persevered but given in.

Buy the seller, visit their home, avoid ads that advertise the dog for ‘free’ as they obviously don’t care where it ends up. Be selective and you’ll find a good one.

You’ve probably learnt to be lazy when clipped in, by using your feet to pull the bike up when unweighting it, drop offs, jumps, bunny hops. Now you can’t physically lift the bike with your feet, their coming off the pedals etc. New technique required.

We have a terrier, he’s left for 3-3.5 hour stretches max during the day, we have a dog walker at midday and I come home for a late lunch daily. He’s very happy with this, he sleeps all day anyway. When I do work from home, he spends the majority of the day in his bed snoozing anyway, so it’s not like he craves constant stimulation.

He probably gets around 3 hours walking a day, plus constant ball play when we’re there.

The trouble you will have is finding the right dog, you can’t give them back if they prove not to adapt to your routine. Rescue centres will probably say no if you say you work full time, which I find ridiculous when you could offer such a great home.

Worth looking on Gumtree/Freeads/pets4homes etc. – You may find one that needs rehoming that is already left alone at times.

    From your choices:

Cockerpoo will demand a huge amount of exercise and will probably be a bit mad.

Beagles are hunters, likely to piss off at every opportunity, they can be naughty, selectively deaf and a pain in the arse.

    Border Terriers are great dogs.

Just buy a 26″ full sus frame for peanuts, swap your bits over, flog/keep the soul for nostalgia, job done. Who cares if you’re not rolling on the latest wheel size. Cheapest option open to you for sure.

I’m still riding a 26″ bike, it’s a better bike than I’ll ever be a rider so don’t see the point in changing until I can’t get bits anymore.

Best thing to do is buy a firestick (good product in its own right) and then go to youtube and search kodi firestick, you’ll get a walkthrough vid to install it.

Yes I know we’re a commodity and I’ll be kind in saying recruiters are disingenuous but please, show a smidgen of common courtesy.

Case in point; I had an interview last Friday and have chased 3 times for ANY feedback. Nadda……

Some recruiters are arseholes. I completely agree, if they don’t get a result with your CV they drop you like a stone, and don’t give you feedback.

Some recruiters are juggling so many vacancies, and so many candidates that they only have time to really deal with the successful ones, bad I know, but it happens.

Some, (and I put myself in this bracket) take pride in being people persons, and it’s the only part of the job I really like. I’d like to think I’m different, and my candidates and clients tell me that, so maybe it’s true.

I’ve had a new 2014 VRS Petrol Estate since July 2014. I’ve done 50k in it. It’s very comfortable, well equipped, fast but cruisy when required.

I don’t find the seats uncomfortable as mentioned above, far from it in fact.

I’ve had 3 adults, 3 bikes, tools and kit in it to go to the Passporte Du Soleil last year and it was great.

It’s not missed a beat, it’s not had any warranty work done, it’s been faultless.

Recruitment consultant here, 20 years for my sins.

The only time I’ve ever been snotty with a candidate is when they’ve agreed to take a job, had all the information sent to them, start time and date agreed, referencing done, interviewing done etc etc then they disappear off the face of the planet. Stop answering calls and emails and don’t turn up for the job. Its the most infuriating thing, and the consultant has to pick up the pieces with the client and start the lengthy and expensive process again (if the client gives them a second chance that is) It happens more than you’d believe. When this happens most of the people just get a better offer and don’t see the need to formally withdraw from the job they’ve already accepted.

I usually leave it a couple of weeks, and phone them from a different number (which they usually answer) and tell them how unprofessional they are and how much grief they’ve caused. I genuinely think they have no idea.

It’s a bit late for you but you can “upgrade” to W10 with a fresh install for free.

I bought it through work so free essentially, I also like to have the disc, call me old fashioned!

My laptop ran terribly when I upgraded from windows 8 to Window 10. I had loads of issues, performance for starters, it forgot my user account and I couldn’t log in. It was shocking. i bought a fresh copy of Windows 10 and reinstalled. it’s been great ever since.

Was your Win 10 an upgrade or a fresh install?
