Er, if she doesn’t wear rings, don’t buy a ring.

Trust me, she wants this ring.

No sign as yet. Probably miles away. The worst thing is not knowing how they’re being treated, she is young and not spayed, so god knows what will happen to her.

    Awful.

If the fence is flogging them on in huge numbers, and has a large number of thieves working for him, they only need to make £100 per bike.

    Evil Imperial FTW!

    Lol.

My Sovereign is still pretty hardcore, on it’s tiny wheels, with its straight steerer tube.

I was merely pointing out the hypocrisy that we all fall victim to of trying to protect our kids from stuff that might harm them because society frowns upon it whilst simultaneously encouraging them to consume other stuff that’s more likely to kill them like alcohol, sugar, fat and cars.

Understood. Death and physical health risks aside, weed is far more detrimental to your mental health and ability to function than alcohol imho. It has no obvious short term ill effects, no hangovers etc. I think it’s easy for kids to get caught up and end up smoking it all day, every day.

Not sure you’re qualified to say this:

the most damaging drug, by a country mile, is alcohol

    When you’ve said this:

I’ve never taken any recreational drugs in my life.

IMHO the most damaging drug, by a country mile, is weed. People get into an endemic cycle of daily use, and its absolutely debilitating. Sure, you’re not going to be found dead with a needle sticking out of your arm, but it’ll probably completely **** your head up, make you paranoid, and sap all your motivation to do anything at all. If I was going to warn my kids off anything, then that’d be the one!

    Yup.

Not the case here either. A few got seriously screwed up too and ended up in psychatric wards..
Its not all glow sticks and dancing.

Agreed, I have one friend who is a socially inept, jobless, alcoholic ex stoner, who freely admits his problems were caused by his ridiculous consumption of weed for 20 years.

It’s a tricky one, I’d like my kids to not get into that side of life at all, but I did when I was a yoof, and don’t regret it in the main part.

Amongst other things I smoked weed, and before I knew it I’d smoked away the early part of my twenties, and life is very short. I know this now, and wouldn’t do it again with hindsight. I wouldn’t want my kids to waste any of their lives.

Option 1: Put the pressure back on vendor solicitor (will only work if you are prepared to walk away)

Call the sellers bluff, and tell them you’re struggling to sort this with the developer, and need their input. Point out that this is going to haunt them with all future prospective purchasers if you walk away, so they need to be proactive about helping you sort it. It’s not going to go away.

Had the house been on the market for a while? if so, they won’t want to lose you as a buyer.

If you’ve got a freezer box, ice creams are good, get some retro ones, like feasts, whams, mini milks etc.

    Thanks.

Spouse works and does well, so I don’t see a benefit in allocating shares to her, unless there’s another possible scenario down the line that may make doing this beneficial.

I’d at least read a book about running one first.

    Good plan.

Issue 100, then it’s easier to work out percentages later.

    This is what I’d thought.

Get to your local branch of Reed/Blue Arrow/Manpower etc, dress smartly go armed with CV and get registered. It creates a much better impression than just firing off your CV.

Apart from that, CVlibrary/Monster/Reed websites are good.

Wow, so many things I can relate to.

Here’s another for you – she has a unique ability to phone my mobile when I’m under a car, up a ladder, unblocking a drain, or covered in grot – not really her fault, but when I immediately call her mobile back within a few seconds of her call having climbed out/down/wiped hands etc, I get no answer. It’s like she’s put her phone down and sprinted away from it out of ear shot. So annoying.

Asking my opinion on stuff them, when I offer an opinion, she replies: “You don’t really know do you? You’re just making it up as usual!” So nowadays I just murmur “Gosh, I don’t know.” and close the subject.

Yes. Or asking what she should do about something and then doing the complete opposite anyway. WHY ASK THEN? you’d evidently made up your mind. I’ve given up offering opinions now, and go with something like ‘whatever you think right’

I have turned into my dad.

    Toothpaste squeezing in the middle.

Coming in like a whirlwind and just dropping stuff and leaving it lying around everywhere. I’ve taken to de-cluttering her stuff by popping small items into her handbag.

We have a back door into a utility room, or a front door straight onto hall carpet, they are 10 seconds walking distance apart, she insists on using the front door irrespective of how wet/muddy it is outside.

I’d echo Alcatraz, but book in advance.

Get off the beaten track, loads of back street cheap eats, and a real mix of cultures.

Try the Mission District for a good burito and some cracking salsa bars and live music.

Go to the top of the Mark Look herefor a martini and to see the view.

If you can afford it, hire a car and go up Highway One and see the Redwoods.

Do you have any room at home? That sort of money will buy you a very nice garden building that would do what you need, and keep everything in your back garden.

Our Jack Russell completely ignored cats until one set upon him out on a walk for no reason, they just met at a corner in the path. Now he goes on the offensive whenever he sees one. Not sure how to cure this.

My grand parents gave me about £1000 when I reached 18 (many years ago). I was not sensible enough to use it properly, and pretty much spent it all in the first term of Uni, topping up my beer fund.

Stash it away in an ISA or similar, as soon as they start talking about doing mature things like moving out/buying a car/travelling, surprise them with a very nice leg up.

I’d also add that if I went to see a car without service history, but a load of receipts for regular oil changes, it wouldn’t put me off buying. Total neglect would though.

    cbmotorsport

As long as you change the oil and oil filter once a year, everything else will not do harm to your engine, but it might not run quite as well. For the price of a service kit, and a couple of hours of your time, you may as well do oil, filter, air filter, plugs (if required) etc too yourself. All easy jobs.

A service generally includes much more than the obvious, so I can understand the cost to a degree. Things are cleaned, inspected, lubricated etc, but none of this will show on your bill, but all take time and therefore cost.

My mum taught me a lot, but I developed a real interest when I first moved out as I realised just how impressed girls were if you could cook.

I started following recipes, loved it, worked in a professional kitchen for a while, and can’t imagine not being able to cook.

It should definitely be taught in schools along with other life skills, like changing a tyre, basic DIY etc.

    Wow, you are easily amused.
