An all Metal Anglepoise and double insulated components is a class 2 appliance and requires no ground. (got one here with CE marking)

A wooden bedside lamp with a brass lamp holder is a class 1 appliance and requires a ground.

PAT testing is not relevant for the sale of goods and I suspect the quantity he produces makes certification not viable. If you worried about it being unsafe the quality is not good enough for sale. If there is no worry then I reckon you are into covering yourself under consumer protection act. It must be possible as artists and small scale makers do it all the time with no need for CE markings.

I think it requires further investigation rather than outright dismissal.

Good Allyship is more than rainbows. Make yourself familiar with it all and then ask yourself if you have the right. Have you been chased down the street? Fled a country? Had to return to the closet in your old age or to access care?

The BBC are broadcasting something that might be good learning on this type of journey, early march. https://www.nationaltheatrescotland.com/events/adam-on-screen

Yep. no shower required. I used to have a shimano powered tourer but it had many failures and support was poor with 6 month waits for parts. when the motor failed for the third time I bought a basic orbea Katu town bike and fitted a Bafang kit. Its pedal sensor broke recently but was replaced for free within 4 days. I recommend Bafang or Bosch which has service kits for a reliable commuter. For 16 miles I’d want a big wheel tho!

The dustex is very good but a Henry works just as well. Festool vacs are brittle crap.

GP 14, Mirror, Wanderer (Smaller lighter wayfarer), Wayfarer, or Drascombe for any serious cruising. Gull is quite tiny but mighty. GRP or Ply so you can fix it. Plastic stuff is less likely to break but harder to fix. You’ll not get anything that can take a load and kids on a vehicle roof.

Wanderer and Wayfarer groups are very active and have trial days. pending covid!

You sound like a beginner so join a club, try their boats, maybe start with a topper to see how keen the kids are then cruise when you have experience.

I’ve sailed lots,(I sail a wanderer) but first months of this year will be day sails and capsize training for crew and me before we even load a tent. If we are ever allowed!

If your boat is cheap, budget another £400plus for sails as it will be frustrating otherwise!

Zoom video cameras for musicians have a great mic, and easy interface. We use for rehearsal room recording.

It’s telling all the uk technical theatre people to become actors and explore the events and creative industries…thanks for that…let us just finish our Tesco and amazon deliveries and we will be right there.

I have an electric Circe Morpheus which converts from cargo to another pedalling adult. Fantastic car replacement. 4 Panniers for a huge shopping load or a few eurocrates on the front. Higher load level but once underway handles fine.

Sorry to hear. My Ex just died from a very similar cancer diagnosed in December. She had a brain tumour when she was 12 and had that in remission all her life. She was a great advocate of her cancer support groups, Macmillan nurses and hospice care. Lockdown made things difficult so her sister made a FB group, gathered stories and memories and organised zoom meet-ups. I made (terrible!)travel films with her and carried it on even after we split as I knew they would be important one day for us all. Her sister loved this. They are all a very joyous family and I think it comes from having been through it all before when she was young and helping other families. You can’t help but follow their attitude.
Her final weeks involved a lot of pain and morphine and hospice care. Sadness and relief for many I think.

You can get driver training via energy saving trust. They cover Efficiency, attitude and planning ahead as a result. We make our freelancers do it as it saves cash and the insurance company likes it too.

By a Big Mondeo estate type car for cheaper insurance. learn. Then sell it and get a bike. Don’t own a car as a young person. Your pals will treat you as a taxi, you never get a beer, and You can travel the world further without one.

Could be Ball lightning? Its weird stuff. Saw it in France once associated with a thunder storm. Multiple balls of plasma forming in and under clouds and staying for ages. They have been seen at various levels.

It’s only advisory. What do you think? Have you had a look? Lots of advisories never even mentioned again next time round from the same garage. Always inspect yourself first and do so when its up on the ramp for anything. Take a hammer and a torch. Appear to be naive and they will take advantage.

Do it! My stoker is not the fittest but we’ve done about 650 miles under lockdown and had to go for “practice in the rain”

Buy Bosch or anyone else for actual support and spares, or build your own.

I couldn’t recommend a Shimano system in good faith.

Electric bikes need this! At the moment they are WEE at the end of their lives. Shimano and Bosch just tell you to recycle as appropriate in council facilities. No joined up thinking anywhere. Shimano seem to design in obsolescence.

Ive got the osmo pocket. It has some annoyances and requires many accessories to make it usable some of which cannot be used at the same time!!! WiFi,audio in etc. File management is pants and story feature makes a real mess of this. I should have bought a gimbal and stuck with gx7 or got small blogging Sony or similar. If you want good audio use a zoom/tascam/Olympus and sync later.

Yes it will be perfectly fine. If you get keen or break something then you know you need something burlier. That was my budget when I started then I bought a Specialized Epic after 2 or 3 years and upgraded components over time. 20 years ago. Just do it. Don’t wring your hands about it.

Delivery at the moment could take some time – maybe search second hand in your area. Distributers are out of stock or extremely busy. I wouldn’t buy a new bike now without expecting delivery for a few months.

Arrange for neighbours to “visit” if they appear again. Make your road be busy. Do gardening. Also Light from the street towards the house so neighbours can see rather than just shadow. Driveway PIR doorbell stuck on a tree?

You have to even ask? It’s your duty to fix there and then if you can. It’s not awkward. You just say hello! Ive noticed a problem with your bike. Would you mind if I fix it for you?

It’s because bikes come in boxes like that and people are stupid.

What about Circe Helios? or Morpheus? Could start out as cargo/kiddie bike, gain a stoker as they grow. They do triplets too.

meh. Blame an already socially isolated population for not isolating the way you isolate. There can be 7 Roma in 2 bedroom flats near me, which is partly cultural but a blind eye is turned by the landlords operating the premises. Families are huge but appropriate accommodation does not exist. 3 Deaths this week in that community and I reckon they will suffer more than most because of circumstances beyond their control. Force them all back into houses and I reckon you would increase the risk.

Just poke yourself every so often and remind yourself how privileged and lucky you are.

It is a truly serious situation, but everyone is different.
