Anyone have a Junghans Max Bill? – floats my simple dial box with a Bauhous nod, is the movement another cheap bought in job?

Not bought one but one of my favourite designs. The movement is a modified ETA2824 which is pretty widely used because it’s so reliable. Easy to service too.

The same movement (or a newer version 2824 2) is in the diver I’m hovering over at the moment, the Squale Matic. There is the polished case/indices (grey sunburst dial) but I think I prefer the satin case/indices (flat black dial) with the half orange bezel:

Yes. I might soak it with a Milton tablet first

Typee by Herman Melville. I’m quite enjoying it; nothing like the scope or depth of Moby Dick but it has that recognisable witty observation, sense of fun and critical eye.

After that, I need to get going on the next book club choice, the dystopian We by Yevgeny Zamyatin.

My Five Ten Kestral Boas are good for this. I’ve done plenty of pushing in them. Around the house/supermarket/driving also fine.

“You tube”, once the most common derogatory phrase in Derry, must surely now be much more confusing.

The kids are 10 and 13.

My last Airport experience in August was in Cyprus. Several planes had landed from the UK and the queue was awful, whereas there was no non-EU queue at all.

A stoned American man told me that if the majority of your party are non-EU then the whole party can go through

I can’t watch horror movies without constantly spotting the clichés.
Can someone recommend me recent horror movies that deliver the scares in an innovative way?
No creepy-spooky-freaky movements ghouls, cut/jump frights, final girl, killed during sex, unkillable villan etc etc…

Good shouts for Get Out and Midsomer. Also Saint Maud was great in an understated, creepy way.

The Depth Charge looks like a potentially great beater watch. I’d prefer it not to have ‘sapphire glass’ written on the dial, and personally I like my divers BIG, like 46mm big. Still, sapphire, ceramic, decent movement – it would be a great wear around the house/not mind if it got knocked watch.

Furniture maker (and sometimes designer) here.

I’d agree with many of the above suggestions.

To me, the top two shelves need to continue the pattern (long, shorter, shorter, shortest)

I’d put an asymmetrical arches to support them all, one on each side. Being ruthless, I’d then sack off the tower completely so you have four shelves of varying lengths, all the same width, supported  by an asymmetrical arch on each side, connected by ladder frames concealed by the shelves.

    Bit like this

But the right way up. Sorry if that’s too much of a departure, or doesn’t hold what you need it to hold.

Also beware that an asymmetrical design with a front and back like yours won’t work if you need to point it the other way in another situation.

You’ll just regret it if you don’t. If you don’t bond with it, just sell it on.

Just in case anyone is unsure – the cheap Race Mk15 from Winstanleys comes with full mounts/charger, and sticker of course.

To add this for those in the market, I’ve just bought this today for a great price..

BTW, in my world, the “crust” is the circumfrencial part of the standard slice of bread. The end slices are known as “heels”.

Mission quartz diver was successful! I got this Dievas Noble for a nice cheeky offer price from an EBayer in Italy. I don’t like bracelets, so that came straight off and on with a rubber Zulu Diver. I really wanted a Ploprof-like face with tritium lume and this was perfect:

Decent quality sausages; I’ll always cook twice as many as we need and will have polished off the surplus before the washing up is finished.

I’m really loving tritium lume. I woke at 5am in the dark, and it’s just there full beam! Unable to sleep, I tried to take a picture. The best results were with the full 10s exposure. I love how you can see all ten ticks of the second hand

Thanks @SteveT1 that ticks many boxes and seems a bargain. I have my eye on a few EBay and Watch Forum sales at the moment, but that Citizen will definitely enter the race!

40 x 11-46 here on drop bar gravel bike with 29×2.25″

For me that covers everything nicely, which is a mixture of road and XC and trails, but nothing too steep

@cb200 that’s really nice – I like the stealth look, and the back story!

    Thanks @pierre

I’m really enjoying it. Trying to capture the shiny numbers is difficult..

So I managed to lose my Suunto Smartwatch whilst on a flight 🤦

I was going to replace it with a newer model, then started thinking how much do I actually use it? Will my phone suffice for Strava etc?

So, loving but not wanting to damage the Luminox, I’ve decided to go for a chunky quartz beater dive watch for a budget of £250. The hunt is on…

Looking for reccomendations for my 50th

For the 2k Mark, I’d be looking at the Rado Captain Cook (style), a Doxa Sub (competency) or the Ball Skindiver 2 (Bit of both)

Just finished 9 days riding in the alps (ok 2 of them in road bikes) and of those in my family on DHFs (4 ranging from 10 to 50) exactly nine of them were killed by their tyres.

Sorry, I’m probably just tired, but I can’t make sense of this post.

Ah, I’ve been on a break from playing since quitting the reggae band I was with then moving house (gasp! Almost two years)

I’ve tinkled with the bass occasionally, but the Glockenklang/Barefaced rig is gathering dust.

This thread is a reminder to get back on it!

I’ve acquired this Luminox series 3950 after the previous owner sadly passed away recently. He was a dive instructor and wore this during all his dives.

I must admit, when I first saw it, I thought it was an unremarkable Tag copy, but have come to appreciate it quite a bit.

It’s from the Navy Seal edition. 44mm, Swiss Made, quartz, 200m water resistance, carbon composite case and bezel, mineral crystal, permanent lume tritium flasks (mostly blue with the 12 o’clock being orange)

The badge is the logo of the Swiss Police Elite S.W.A.T. team, who commissioned Luminox to make these for their team. (The watch was a gift to the previous owner from a diving buddy who was part of this team)

    Gen 2 is, what 67.5? That’s not exactly what I’d call slack…

Yeah I know, it was just slacker than the previous bike, and it took some adjusting.

Seriously? Wow, that would be seriously short for me (@1” shorter). I run a 35mm on my large SolarisMAX, but I think that is about 40mm longer (ETT).

Yep, I’m with  @metalheart ,not ganging up on you  @cb200 but I’m the same dimms as you and tried a 35mm stem on a 19″ gen2 Sherpa and found it waaaaay too short (like I was almost bolt upright).

Different styles, different smiles I guess.

That’s fine 🙂 Re. styles, most of my riding on the Sherpa is on dirt forest DH type stuff, with some peaks and trail riding thrown in when I get the chance. Like I say, I tried a 50mm stem at one point, but really didn’t like it. I’ve also had an extended loan on a much longer (495mm reach) bike and found it more stable, but not as nimble..

If it helps, I’ll add my experience:

    I have a 19″ Gen2 Sherpa with 120mm fork and 35mm stem. I’m 6’1″ with pretty normal proportions.

At the very, very beginning, I found the front wheel lifting on one particularly steep climb, to the extent that I swapped to a 50mm stem. In hindsight it was just me not being used to the slacker HA. Back to 35mm now and once used to the new geometry, it has never been an issue since. Positioning the seat forwards does make a big difference

I’ve ridden a few longer bikes but to me the Sherpa just feels right in terms of where I put my weight. To me it feels spritely and nimble* (and therefore lots of fun) and, like someone said above, deceptively capable on the downhills. I think a 100mm fork might not help in that regard

*After I sacked off the Plus setup and went back to 29×2.3

The cheaper full build is CAD 10,000 which is around £5,700* – that includes WAO Carbon rims and bars, Fox Factory, Chris King etc.

*That’s a straight currency conversion – I don’t know what the eventual retail will be in the UK
