An recommendations for anything similar, but less pricey, to an omega seamaster planet ocean in orange?

    How cheap? This cheap?

Definitely a dangerous over-generalisation there! They also drink Tyskie lager.

Re. Tudor –  if it were me (wishful thinking, as the more I see it the more I like it) I’d order a Crafter rubber strap in blue. It’s a lot of coin for a bit of rubber, but well worth it to get the look just right imo.

I’d love to see the Tudor on the rubber strap Neil

Agree re rubber strap; my favourite on a diver. The Nato possibly makes it look bigger on the wrist, as it elevates it a bit, as well as the excess strap being visible at the top lug.

As far as the case size itself goes, that’s ideal for my tastes.

7am Start at Calverton Woods (just north of Nottingham). Properly dark as soon as you get into the trees, and glad I had lights. The new Joystick mk14 is excellent.

The bad: forestry is destroying the trails. The best one and a promising new one have been totally ruined. The others are next in the firing line. They have been built and evolved for years, very sad, and one less great spot within riding distance for me 🙁

Looks even better on the wrist, and shown off in better light. Really nice diver. I think the plain blue nato is my favourite of the three so far.

Very excited about seeing Ibibio Sound Machine tomorrow night. Also, Comet is Coming next month. Both superb live acts by all accounts.

Yes, the colour is great, and it oozes quality. Loving that clasp!

    Tudor looks lovely!

I also have a bit of a beef with unnecessary writing on a watch face. Surely ‘Chronometer’ implies that it is officialy certified? What else would a self-winding watch have other than a rotor?

The worst is Rolex spoiling the Deep Sea Dweller with an enormous “ORIGINAL GAS ESCAPE VALVE” around the chapter ring.

Anyway, rant over. I’m craving a diver myself at the moment. There are some nice ones from Certina and Tissot in the £500 bracket, but predictably the one I really want is the Ball Skindiver 2 at over 2k. Not looking likely anytime soon 🙁

Not so sure about “a fool and his money” in this case; the Offshore is pretty “hot” at the moment, and is probably appreciating in value.

Anyway, sod the AP, I want to see a £20k fridge!

    Tuna looks great btw CountZero

I’m currently undergoing a major upgrade to my Sherpa. I love the frame so much I’m spending my money on fancy fork, wheels etc. rather than getting a new bike.

I’m going boost, so will have 12×142 swapouts and axle going spare soon*

As above, I’ve done the 2.8 thing but hugely prefer my 2.3/2.25 for my type of riding. It’s such a versatile bike, you’re bound to love it!

    * not to mention bars, stem, two wheelsets, dropper and fork also

Thanks. Will have a look when I next get to a computer.

What’s wrong with feet?? I like to see my distance progress in miles.

Right, off to start another thread in my search for a hardtail five hands high and with a reach of one cubit.

I’m keen to find the ‘correct elevation’ function, but can’t see it. Do you need to be on a computer rather than the app? Or need Summit? Or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Seems this thread has been made invisible from the forum! In hindsight I’m guessing there are rules around promoting riding on unofficial property, despite Bestwood jump area being well (decades) established and permitted by the landowner.

    Anyway, sorry mods

The official red would be fun on a CX. Venturing onto the bike park/jump park and off piste routes, I’d take the XC. Have fun!

What will you be hanging from the hook? If nothing more than a coat, a grab adhesive like No More Nails would be fine. Stronger would be a two part epoxy Resin (Alaldite) but you may need to wait longer for it to set – masking tape is your friend in this scenario.

Edit, just read that it’s painted. Chances are it’ll just pull the paint off.  Maybe draw an outline of the hook and scraoe the paint off?

Nice mix by a friend of a friend. Bit of a mashup, and don’t be put off by the gentle intro, lovely though it is

In my experience, Festool is good, Metabo excellent value for money, but Mirka the best by a country mile in terms of finish, noise and ergonomics. Dust extraction is superb too, especially when used with the (pricey) Abranet discs.

A colleague had a keenly-priced Bosch with a kind of vibration damping suspension, but kept going back under warranty.

    My musings on 29″ tyres:

I’m set on Minion DHF up front

    On the rear:

    HR2 – too draggy

    Ikon – too flimsy

Minion SS – not enough grip when hard braking/steep climbing

Ardent – my favourite best (or some might say worst) of all worlds

    30t is high for a 29er?? Crumbs! I have 34t on mine.

Suppose it depends on what riding you do.

Anyway, an alternative could be to use 30t and a wider range cassette?

A bit super retro this, but maybe of interest to some.

Illinois Watch Co. from 1892. This was my great grandfather’s watch. An irishman who emigrated to the US in the late 1800s, he was a big burly chap whose pub party piece was to lift an anvil above his head with one hand. Until he had a stroke. He then returned to Ireland to spawn my grandad, who spawned my dad, who spawned me.

It still works, and his initials are engraved on the front.

A lovely thing to have. I do have a picture of him somewhere, and a watch chain is hanging from his waistcoat. Of course I like to believe that this was the watch in his pocket.

Lovely ride around Bestwood Country Park; bit of XC, bit of bike park.

Dog walker stops me to ask how far I’ve ridden and can he lift my bike up. Lifts it by the tt near the saddle and says “balance is way off mate, you want to sort the shockers on that (pointing at the fork)” and walked off.

Last week’s #dogwalkeroftheweek went straight from “lovely place isn’t it?” to “watch out for foreigners, as they’ll kill and eat the deer. And swans”

Cheers folks. I used to subscribe to Time magazine, and from the hundreds of watch adverts I must have browsed through (lots of Breitling, Patek Phillipe, Rolex ect.), I fell in love with this one, so saved for ages until it was finally mine!

Been enjoying this thread, so thought I’d post a pic of my Omega. Bought new fifteen years ago, I used to wear it every day, but tend to wear my Suunto these days. Nice to wear at weekends though. I set an alarm for 10:10 this morning to take a picture at the obligatory watch photographing time:

Mine separated the same day Scotland voted not to become separated from the rest of the UK, so about 4 1/2 years.

No surgery, I have full strength and mobility but a rogue bone/lump sticking out from my shoulder where it shouldn’t!

I’ve been using them for a couple of years now. I seem to be getting around 1500 miles before I notice any wear/dodgy shifting, and I don’t change my chain anywhere near often enough.

If it’s of interest to anyone, I need a spacer behind the cassette when fitting to my Hope hubs, but not my Specialized ones.

Back up in The Peak today with some mates for a Ladybower/WLT loop. Awesome weather.

Pretty sure we were just by you at the visitor centre (pair with green Orange Alpine and black Stanton Sherpa)

Would have said hello but pretty sure Stanton owners are forbidden from interacting with Cotic owners 😉
