Yeah, but look how happy that old couple are on the homepage! Like he not only fixed their lock but also cured his erectile disfunction.

Washing up bowls in sinks. They just get in the way of everything a sink should be used for.

Another vote for Uberbike, either sintered or race matrix. I have the finned ones (I like the look) and like that you can replace the pads but keep the same fins.

☝️good idea re. pushing  the pistons while the old pads are still in! I normally do it directly on the pistons with a wooden spoon/spatula thing requisitioned from the kitchen.

The Endura Danny MacAskill gloves are very thin and breathable. So thin you still get nettle stings through them

Every time my kids eat a portion of mousse, I slowly point with an arched index finger and croak “the salmon mousse!”

    Does that count?

Be friendly, respectful and polite towards others as default. On the unusual occasion you encounter a ****, deal with it diplomatically.

Act in a way you would like the world to act, trying not to get dragged down to the level of the ****.

When meeting people, try to remember names, ask about their lives, and only talk about yourself if relevant/prompted.

Celebrate your strengths without getting arrogant. Be honest about your weaknesses without getting getting self-pitying.

I try to stick to the above with varying degrees of success. I can still be a **** at times.

I got what I ‘hinted’ at – a bottle of nice rum (Ninefold) and a jar of nice pickled onions (Barry Norman)

Went for a nice walk at local dumbles (waterfall/valleys/woods). First family walk since Mother’s day.

Not quite so action packed as some of the suggestions, but all this talk of a trilogy has made me dust off the three colours DVDs for a watch. Great stuff!!

I’ve grown to quite enjoy MAH, although I get mildly irritated/amused every time she says a track has been “lifted” from an album. That and her awkward laugh when interviewing. I enjoy the variety of music though.

Lamacq just gets turned off, for the reasons mentioned above.

Thank goodness for BBC Sounds – currently going through Don Letts’ shows.

Quick gym ball question – is there a better valve type than the cheapo tapered white bung? They always seem to deflate pretty quickly.

Not pointless for me – I was interested in this thread as I’m out with a mate for the first time with one manual (me) and one emtb (mate) next week, and keen to read about others’ experience.

Also confused about wtf GP is though.

For the strong join, that’s tricky; because you don’t have a square edge to work off, any kind of biscuit/dowel/metal rod will be a bugger to line up perfectly :(

For the clamping part, I would put several pocket hole screws on the convex underside, and a couple of sash clamps over the concave top. Screw in most of the way, then tighten the clamps a bit, then the screws again, then the clamps etc. till both are nice and tight and the surfaces flat together.

This thread has made me think – as an owner of a Taiwanese 853 frame with a lifetime warranty, in the unlikely event that my frame were to break, would the replacement be Taiwanese-made 4130 or UK-made 853?

Omega can’t claim to have had the first watch in space, but got the first watch on the moon.

Having had enough of moaning kids, I spent £70 on a three piece Tenda mesh set. So one is connected to the modem and then the other two around the house. It works really well. You can monitor what devices are connecting off which hub and it’s sometimes surprising the path the signal takes; it definitely favours long distance over going through brick walls.

With a bit of experimentation, it turns out it works best with all three spread out downstairs, and now we get full wifi in the garden and good signal over two stories.

As above, keep it discrete, and don’t just add features to existing paths. In the council run country park near me, one trail has kept its berms and (small) jumps for years as only bikers use it (there are other more established paths nearby) but the little gaps that appeared one day in a popular area were flattened within days.

Overall, try to build out of the way. If you don’t get it right, you’ll soon find branches on the trail and the features neutralised.

Thanks for the MP3 above btw, a great mix to have for my ride this morning.

I quite like some of the albums mentioned above! (Stone Roses, Gomez)

Biggest disappointment for me was Random Access Memory by Daft Punk. The Get Lucky Single was promising, then came the album, filled with mediocre disco cheese

This is where I cycle a lot, a dirt jump/trails area in the woods. It’s generally quite litter free in the ‘big gap’ areas, but down here is where the easier jumps are and the kids congregate.

Take the rack off  the car, loosen the allen bolts underneath, slide the clamp/arm part back, and tighten again. Then put back on the car.

The clamp will probably end up on the curved part of the rack – this isn’t a problem functionally as it still clamps very securely.

    Thanks ☝️

    That’s memory for you!

I’m a CAMRA heretic in that I’ve never enjoyed flat warm ale that much, yet find much lager bland. This craze of ‘overhopped’ fizzy ales is what I’ve been waiting for all my life. I like their ales and their marketing seems pretty progressive and original to me.

Just as a side note, I love the trend of 330ml cans too, as the beer doesn’t go flat and warm. Maybe I drink too slowly.

IIRC someone called their bar ‘Draught Punk’ and got a cease and desist from Brewdog. There was a bit of an outcry so they withdrew, saying that their lawyers had been a bit trigger happy.

☝️Bit aggressive, dude only wants to change his tyres! I’m a big advocate of “stop obsessing about kit and just get out and ride”, but in this case, the OP is replacing a bald tyre, which seems reasonable to me.

Anyway, I have a 29″x2.25 Ardent, approx 1000 miles old, and it measures at just over 3mm.

On the subject of Ardent, it’s my favourite rear tyre; fast enough yet grippy enough.
