Peanut butter on fruit salad – a yummy lockdown discovery.

I’ll never be convinced by anything carb-on-carb like a chip butty though

A friend in this situation learned that the police (in Notts anyway) won’t do anything by default, but if you state you are going round there, they will then attend.

In his case, they told him to stay round the corner, then pretended to be interested in buying. On the bike test, he rode it to my mate, who identified it as his, handed it over to him then headed back to the house for the arrest.

Anyone know where the next nearest dirt jumps are? Other than Bestwood

I’m a bit gutted about this. The setup of the area is great, with a clear progression from super easy to big gaps which is great for building confidence. I can take my son there and we’ll both have a great time on our respectively appropriate lines.

The litter is terrible, which seems to be a dirt jump thing, but one obvious solution is to provide more than one small bin!

I’m curious how many times the emergency services have been called out; it must be frustrating to be constantly called out to attend avoidable accidents when resources are so stretched

i do worry for the rest of the downhill runs

Really hope this remains – these are great fun. I think it should be fine – I don’t see groups yoots hanging out at the downhill bit, smoking weed and egging each other on.

Plotted a commuting route using mostly bridleways, so thought I’d go for a pipecleaner ride to make sure it was all doable. Lots of mud, lots of stiles, took ages. Maybe I’ll keep it for those occasional summer scenic commutes. Great to have an explore though.

    Very much enjoying A.L.I.C.E.

Primarily bought as a commuter, but today stuck some bigger tyres on and went for a fun mucky bridleway explore, then road on the way back. Great for both!

A finger jointed table frame (CNC)

Glueing up the entire frame at once was a race against time, making sure all parts were clamped up tight before the glue went off. There was lots of frantic whacking with a big mallet, and then lots pressing into place with a tiny F clamp.

Back when corn on the cob was a restaurant starter (I was too hungry to opt for the glass of orange juice on a doiley), I once ate the corn, then the cob. Strange looks from the waitress taking my plate, and quite embarrassed parents.

I got those Dakine Slayer pads earlier in the year.
Description says “open back design eliminates hot spots and increases breathability” but they’re not open backed and they bunch up and get uncomfortable after a while.

That’s a bit odd – my Dakine Slayers are open backed (and they don’t bunch up)

I also have some IXIS Evos, but they never get a look in, mostly because the Slayers are open backed and the IXIS are not

I wonder what the death toll will be when the inauguration rolls around.
Using the current daily death count of 1,500 for 50 days would take the total to 345,000.

I honestly think that Trump should be tried for some sort of war-crimes-scale criminal neglect after all this is settled. He’s diverting all his energy into this futile time-wasting fundraising mess, while thousands die. At least the transition has begun now, but how many lives did the delay cost?

The hungarian down duvets from House of Emily are great, and conform to the Responsible Down Standard. Just looking at them, I’m intrigued about that £750 one! Ours were a thin and thick set that could button together to give three options for different seasons.

Having moved house recently, I’m continuing my series of explorations from the door. Last week was Sherwood Pines, today I made it to favourite local MTB hooning spot Watchwood Plantation. Some of the trail en route was a bit too narrow and ferny for my 800mm bars

Lovely GS there, and much cooler than an OP.

Rolex are high quality and iconic, but they seem to have become a watch to wear if you want to ‘flex’ rather than enjoy their horological merits.

I’d (sadly) be much more excited to see someone wearing a nice Ulysse Nardin (among the tacky tat), JLC, GS or H Moser.

Thanks. It’s an MTB about 13kgs. I’m more concerned about ‘deforming’ the rim with all that tension on one area. I’m guessing the answer will be that rims are built to tolerances way beyond that.

Strangely I’m not concerned about aluminium rims at all, I suppose it’s because the carbon ones were so much more expensive

    I feel like I’m being scolded 😄

The Smarty one is best value agreed, I’m just really need the faster turnaround.

Judging by the usage example above, we would definitely use over 30GB in twelve days.

Wifi Hotspot from a phone – whatever next? Thanks for the explanation.

Wife uses Teams a fair bit. Kids play on server-based games such as Roblox, Among Us and Human Fall Flat. They are on call (skype/other) with friends while playing, especially during lockdown.

Thanks for the ideas. My existing provider sends me a paper bill, and I don’t have any sort of online account with them.

Wife would have no idea how to use mobile data on a work laptop, and nor would I!

Was just looking at Smarty, looks interesting. So a mifi/mobile router may be in order

First off road with the new commuter/gravel bike

I took it on a ride I know pretty well with both XC and some moderately techy downward-pointing lines.

Quite a learning experience! It blasts over meadows, natural trails and singletrack, and is a lovely climber. I need to get used to the geometry a bit more in terms of body position/hopping etc that’s coming. Rocks and bumps were unsurprisingly not that nice, but again with increased hopping and unweighted technique that may become easier.

Two offs – both in leafy muddy downhill runs, not surprisingly on the 35mm G-one tyres, although I suspect that the brakes aren’t quite as effective as those on my hardtail. Next ride I’ll remove the saddle bag and slam the seat right down when on techy stuff.

I’ve learned that the weight distribution works best on fast corners when in the drops (Salsa Cowbell), in fact riding in the drops is fast becoming my favourite e position for many scenarios – so comfy!

Sorry for the ramble, just one of those excellent rides. A powering to the top of the trail, steam billowing up while passing on a bush on a stunning autumn morning kind of ride.

    And the winner is…

    The Pipedream A.L.I.C.E.

The fact that I could use my existing spare wheels on the frameset was the clincher (so please forgive the Hope blue hubs)

Lovely on the road so far – not a lightweight but not slow by any means.

I took it on some quite techy trails this morning as well as some XC and it was an absolute blast. I’m in the drops at every opportunity and am getting used to the geometry, cornering faster and hopping/pumping/unweighting more and more.

    So much fun!!

Watched Hereditary for the 1st time tonight. That’s a strong candidate. Utter shit. What’s the point in a horror film that isn’t scary, creepy or unsettling

Another one I love and have watched several times. Scary, creepy and unsettling! Maybe you should avoid Ari Aster’s other one Midsommar , as I loved that too.

There are some ridiculous answers on this thread – surely people can differentiate between films they didn’t enjoy, and worst films of all time! Is it mild trolling? Or ignorance?

I don’t want to single people out, but there have been some seriously popular and/or critically acclaimed films mentioned.

I mean, there are films where I’ve walked out of the cinema (Sunshine on Leith and A Star is Born spring to mind) but there’s no way I’d ever categorise them as worst of all time, just not for me.

Perhaps I’m taking it too seriously

By the sounds of things a 1/4″ should be fine for what you need. Up to 18mm is fine, but, as above, when you start trimming doors and worktops, maybe start looking at 1/2″. I find 1/4″ much easier to handle, to the extent that I’ve successfully done some freehand writing on mine.

I’d second the recommendation of a second hand Elu, or the Dewalt, which is the exact same design. Great little routers and very versatile.

We made the mistake of leaving a chicken carcass in the bin during summer. The neighbours weren’t happy when they found maggots in their garden the day after I had washed it out. We now stick anything like that in the freezer till bin day. Not sure I’d do that with a dead fox though

I don’t understand the lady taking the reg of the van while it was waiting for the lorries to move
