if he is charging tenants to change locks – he is wrong – full stop. Any half-wit tenant would have him in a tribunal for that nonsense. I am guessing he covers it up in other complaints or is trolling.

I’m a (reluctant) landlord – just the one property. I’ve so far deducted money from deposits of every set of tenants that I’ve had. One left without paying his final month of rent (often promoted on here as a “revolutionary” thing to do to the big nasty landlord). Still got my money!

I do it according to the contract – leave it how you found it or pay to put it right.

I’ve been helping a mate in London decorate his place for rental and I’m shocked at what people will pay for what I would class as squalor.

How do lights ruin night vision equipment for 20 minutes? Just curious – surely when using them they expect gun fire flashes, car headlights, explosions etc? Are night goggles just for surveillance?

Grange hotels are generally OK. Or. there’s a good place at Liverpool Street = part of the Hyatt group – Andac or something like that.

For a few moments I actually got the urge to cave again…

One of the biggest arses in my day was the hassle with lights. I can see how leds will have altered the whole experience.

Where abouts do you cave timwillows?

Can’t remember ever knowing the lumen output for caving lights – we tended to use carbide lamps with a Petzl or similar for back up. Surely you would need 5/6 hours plus for caving – not sure the ‘low’ settings on bike lights would give you enough light?

    Its been a while tho…

TJ – tax based on turnover is a nonsense. You’d kill off what’s left of manufacturing straight away.

I’d be looking at more incentives for companies to come here rather than harsher penalties, I’d rather pay a few quid more in tax and have our population in employment.

Don’t think the OP was taking anything at face value – running, carrying heavy loads on a daily basis would suggest to me that it would do no harm to enquire…

    By way of an update…

Thanks for all the input, I decided that the other half’s car was the one to “winterise” – 4 kumhos for 408 fitted (whenever I want rather than straight away) and 10 quid per corner to swap them back next year.

    Not unhappy with that. 225/45/17

nickf – that brand would cost me a grand for 4 tyres – no rims, just the rubber! Maybe I’ll just get winter tyres for the other half’s car!

alfabus – what size wheels were they from mytyres?

I seem to remember it working quite well (in terms of the dramatic reduction in bags being issued) in Ireland. Could have been an interesting thread if people had ignored CM…

    Work this one out

Macc to Soton 1st class 90 quid return
Macc to Basingstoke 1st class 180 quid return

Same train, shorter journey. They won’t let you book the longer journey and get off early.

There was a reverb around yesterday for 225 + postage. CRC is 230 with postage – difficult decision that one.

Best I got out of Vauxhall was 25% for a problem that had been the focus of a BBC Watchdog campaign!! Doesn’t matter if there’s thousands of ‘known’ cases, they will deny all knowledge!! Only way to increase their contribution is to go the legal route, which adds stress and introduces a real chance of costing you way more.

I’d be content with their offer.

We’ve got the 2.0 TFSi – be wary of air con woes. If yours does go – look for non-Seat parts, most dealers will tell you they don’t exist! Turned a 1200 job into 550.

I struggle to maintain a ten – so average golfers recommend blades as well. Some seriously good players on here. My ambition is to get into single figures, I’ll never be 1.7!!

You can learn to swing a golf club perfectly well with cavity clubs. The club will not create a bad swing!! The truth is, 90% of golfers have poor golf swings whatever clubs they use, some because of self teaching (me), some because of no teaching, some because they can’t bend in the right places and others just don’t care. Most of them can enjoy their golf by using forgiving clubs, very few will using blades.
A good instructor will teach the correct swing to an individual with whatever clubs they own – that individual still needs the ability and talent to be able to repeat that in a methodical way, and indeed the ‘flair’ for want of a better word, to ignore the teaching when some situations demand it.

Decent Mizunos for under 200 quid Turnerguy – hardly likely to recommend tosh am I. Mizunos at onlinegolf. I like your choice of bike, but I’d give up golf within a month if you were advising.

I might dig out some putty balls and play on a sheep field as well, in my tweeds.

I would ignore the blade advice! Cavity back irons were designed for a reason – its so that most of us mortals can have some fun on the course. If you are a natural, like the 1.7 bloke up there then try them later on.

Full sets of irons are less than 200 quid in the sales at the moment.

Keep them until you are sure. You will open them eventually, I would but not without going through the same thought process.

The online golf places http://www.onlinegolf.co.uk or direct golf or american golf all have sales that are finishing about now, so a great time to pick up deals. Irons can be had for under 200 a set but spend the extra 50 quid with your local shop to get them fitted. Drivers (good ones) for under a hundred.
Go to your local course and ask about 2nd hand clubs – there are more tarts changing clubs every year than there are on here changing bikes.
Anything by Taylor Made, Ping, Mizuno, Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra etc all good. Avoid ebay – full of fakes. Avoid JJB Sports Dunlop rubbish – they are cheap for a reason.
Even green fees can be had cheap by signing up to online teetimes,co,uk etc.
Good luck – its addictive. Ignore the haters above, they have issues!
