Mauro’s in Mottram is pretty good. More south of Manchester than south Manchester though. Although no further than Poynton and the like.

TJ you may be right. I had a bloke drive into my car but I had to identify him in court rather than the vehicle. That was many years ago and I seem to remember reading that that principle had changed in law.

Unless the law has changed, I think you’ll have to identify the driver…if he/she chooses to deny it. Any witnesses?

Just a personal point of view but as soon as I see NO OFFERS (as is quite common on here) I move on. If you want a minimum figure then at least be polite about it.

You could have been offered 1050 by someone but you put them off with your advert…maybe…

Can you all now strip paint with your breath? Unwanted side effect – or so I’m told (from a distance…) from my idiet lite. In truth, the biggest gain for me has been the ‘think before you eat it’ principle. Still eat crap, just a whole lot less than before. 1 stone lost in 6 weeks (its a start!)

Does no one on here ever talk to one another? If I were spending 300 notes (maybe) on, for instance a fork, then I’d want a telephone number for a pre-purchase chat. Shifty characters can usually be found out this way.

I’d give 2-3 days then begin to get public (initially in a please call me kind of way).

As stevede experienced, these things can get sorted. I sold a frame that had a crack – which I had no idea about because I’d bought it on here and then bought a full bike version of the same thing. Hence the frame was never touched and remained in the box. When the buyer called, I simply refunded him before searching out the seller (to me in the first place) on here. The crack was visible in the pictures he had put up online so he also refunded me. All conducted in a very civilised way.

Where are the deals? I typed in a week in August and got 450 Euros per night!!

We had the BG plan for a couple of years – guy did the “service” in about 10 minutes and from what I saw, did nothing apart from a clean. I questioned him and he said “they call it a service but its only a safety check these days”!

    We cancelled.

The small print also had clauses about boilers older than 7 years and that if they can’t be repaired, BG only contribute £1k towards a new model (can’t remember if you had to buy their installation service).

Could never work PeakCyclesport out – they never seemed to be open. At least until they moved into town. Friendly enough when I popped in but feels a bit sparse in there. Not seen the new one – will give it a try in the morning.

What sort of quotes are you guys getting. My renewal with M&S comes in at 483 (up 40 on last year). Bikes are still at 4k limit as I’m an existing policy holder.

Coop was silly cheap (180) but then went up to 283 when I added in various options like accidental damage. I had to call and add bikes – which I did at 5 bikes @ 2k each (for an indicative quote). Upped it to 430.

For that difference I’d rather stick with M&S as contents and buildings claims are unlimited in value.

Coke is my nemesis as well – bloody cans of the stuff, if its in the fridge – its soon in me! Good luck though and do as they say above – pack your own lunch (Walkers crisps Grab bags in petrol stations are also a habit former…)

I witnessed something similar to the OP when a yoof rammed his souped up Nova into the back of a BMX. More of a neighbourhood dispute it turned out but I left my details with the ‘victim’ and offered up as a witness. Went to court 6 months later and he got a record (can’t remember the charge) and a small fine. Moral is, sometimes it does get pursued and treated seriously.

tracknicko – assume you don’t have kids? That is a good thing…

Kids food – every pub I have ever been in is unwilling to recognise that a three year old will eat less than a ten year old (if they welcome kids at all – families spend lots!). Sensibly priced, flexible portions of REAL food, not this de-frosted, deep fried rubbish will get families coming back for more. A family on hols for a week will remember good family orientated service and will pass on your name by word of mouth. We could learn a lot from the Italians in that respect…

Obviously, the two bar area suggestions above will keep my grotty little oiks well away from the crank polishing, half a cider nursing mtbers who appear to want you to wash their bikes while they eat…

If bikers are your main target – a chargeable shower option could be worth considering if you have outbuildings that could be used. Even day trippers will value being warm and clean on their drive home. Tis going beyond the ‘pub’ theme though.

Are you planning accommodation? Peaks (just to annoy the pedants) was made a national park for the very reason that it is bang central for millions of homes. Maybe not so popular year round for weekend stays etc as people day trip it. No evidence to support that – just a thought. You ever been to Hope on a cold, wet Tuesday in November?

Also, as evidenced on here and indeed in Hope every weekend, mtb’ers are generally tight wads – reluctant to pay for parking yet alone meals out / accommodation.

Maybe just open Thursday – Sunday and save on staff bills? Micro-brewery might give you a unique appeal…

Take your own pads – don’t rely on theirs.

There’s a restaurant further up the hill (beyond the next village) that was top notch. Worth the trip – they will drive you up there.

Why the hell would it take 6 weeks to find a replacement? You’ve already had one offer from here…

Ring the local Plumb Centre and ask for some numbers – someone will do it for you.

Never having been in a kayak in my life – how much skill is involved in those drops or are you pretty much at the mercy of the water – direction wise that is? How easy would it be to smash onto rocks?

bland – sounds like the nurseries near you are s*ite. Or you didn’t look hard enough. Why as soon as people become parents do they insist on “knowing” how best to raise a child!!?? Its all guess work and every kid responds differently – make your choices and live with it. Don’t criticise options that others choose.

Forest of Arden – good Sunday night prices. Good first course, not so good second. Close to you.
Belfry – Brabazon over rated IMO but still good if you don’t mind paying over the odds. PGA is a decent second course, Derby is the third and quite poor course. Again, close.
Marriot Breadsall Priory – same as above.
Celtic Manor is OK – 2010 course worth the extra cash – play Roman Road rather than Monty – pushing your two hour limit though.

OP – read your post and was aware of the previous “episode”. Actually went to the SC website and thought uhmmm, does look pretty good. Now I have doubts – whoever you are – you are an Idiot. If you are genuinely just a customer – you are now a customer and an idiot.

Binners – agree that Terry has room to improve as regards his all round likeability, but his primary issue is lack of intelligence. I doubt his team mates would put up with him if he were a racist. Having said that, we all saw what he called Ferdinand – vile thing to say in the heat of the match but surely more stupidity than proof of racist tendencies?

On ability alone, he deserves his place. If we judged them all on behaviour, we wouldn’t have a team: –

Cole “Only 55k grand a week!!”
    Gerrard “Self-defence with 7 mates”
    Rooney “No gran is safe”

    etc etc

thered – YES I WOULD rather have a fit Kelly than a crocked Rio. I think Jags and then Jones will get the nod before Kelly but you need to check your facts – Kelly is a centre-back not a full back!! He has been played (and looked totally lost) at right back this year but he has always been, and looked pretty effective as a centre back.

So in conclusion, yes I believe Hodgeson when he says ‘footballing’ reasons – whether that be perceived fitness or perceived talent. As I intimated before, if Fergie had kept his whisky addled beak out of what doesn’t concern him, then maybe things would have been different for Rio.

If the guy’s club manager says he can’t play twice in four days then that was his fate sealed. “Coming off the bench” is irrelevant, look what happened to Cahill after 15 minutes. Rio might have had to play 90% of the competition (3 games likely!) and he wouldn’t have stood up to that. I’d rather have a fit Kelly although as a L’pool fan even I’m shocked at the inclusion of Downing and Henderson! Fergie has been meddling for years and if Rio disagrees with that assessment he should launch him rather than Hodgeson.

Johnson should have gone in place of Downing with my Great Aunt in front of Henderson.

Richards is a brat and should never be considered again, same with Carrick. I cannot believe that Richards has no one close enough to him to advise against his stance. He’s good enough to play but if I had Roy’s job he wouldn’t get another look in. I see a grovelling apology on the horizon…

WHat we need is Henderson to get lucky and shin a couple in from 30 yards at the Euros, some idiot will then buy him and allow us to get Rodwell out of that manky blue jersey…
