Ouch! Strange how his first instinct was to turn off the helmet cam?

If it is lease then I’d be tempted at a Citroen DS5. Not sure what the list price is though. Would never spend my own money on a Citroen tho…

I spent 4 years in Herne Hill – has some very nice parts to it. No tube, which I saw as a bonus as it tends to be a bit quieter. Good bus and rail links.

Kryton – where are you based? Valuedoors use regional fitters I think and the guy that fitted my doors ‘seemed’ to work for them, although he also had his own company that I had contacted him through.

Verysecuredoors.co.uk based in Derby was the guy I used and I really couldn’t fault him. However, if you want a Rock Door included within a budget of 1280 you’re dreaming a little. Mine were a grand a pop and that was the cheapest of three quotes.

No great surprise to hear that no fault codes have been recorded and nothing diagnosed. I assume Ford would just plug it into the same machine so no idea what to do!

Think I’d notice with the speedo thing as I’m pretty anal about keeping to 30 where needed so tend to look quite often.

    Thanks all, in turn: –

    – Boost hose – no idea but I’ve mentioned it to the garage (the car is now there for a diagnostic)
    – Located in Macclesfield
    – It felt as if the engine did stall (its a push button start so less easy to ‘feel’ than a key start). The gearbox fault was what I first felt it might be when I reversed as it felt as though the gear hadn’t been engaged correctly. Then the later stalling confused that idea… I was almost at full lock when turning but honestly wouldn’t know whether it was CV related.
    – No smoking and I have no idea what I’m doing in the engine bay!
    – Engine warning light didn’t come on – just the oil pressure light – briefly.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll update if I ever get a conclusion. Real dilemma for me is that the mechanic has already warned of difficulty in diagnosing if no fault codes are stored so I’m faced with driving a car in which the same thing could happen again…with kids in the back.

15 stone 7 nine months ago, 13 3 this morning. Tried the idave stuff for about 3 months, you do get used to feeling hungry!! Off it now but just eating way less than I used to (this is evidenced by there being half a pack of fruit gums sat next to me – they would have been all gone a year ago!).

Doors could be grand a pop (mine were) but if he is ‘that’ type of salesman then they “probably should have been 1.5k each mate” discounted to 500 each with another 500 per window. By your tone I wil lassume he has done you a once in a lifetime deal of 10k!

Could someone explain “bb drop”? I was about to recommend one of these to a mate but reading that mtbr link…jesus!

I have one of the old versions when Titus were still Titus, love it.

Agree with all that has been said regarding this incident apart from Molgrips assertion that head teachers shouldn’t be allowed to bollock parents. This head sounds useless and it was out of order in this case but I wish more of them would bollock parents over some issues!! Sounds like a load of the parents need a talking to at at that school if there is routine fighting / bullying etc going on in the playground every day.

Mate’s mum worked for them – repulsive woman who just loved recounting stories of the misery of others and how she had “won” by somehow breaking them…

Personal experience would suggest that pretty much anyone is free to start a business but very few are capable of gaining a full understanding of their liabilities to the taxman (me included). A bit of compulsory training for every company director / sole trader (delivered and charged for by HMRC) might alleviate some of the stresses later on – even of it just confirms the need for a decent accountant on board (built into budgeting at an early stage of the business rather than just when you face issues).

I’ll try a different approach – what physical, mental and economic state would most of you like to see LA end up at? Where does it end? I am interested rather than being antagonistic. Broke, jail (for how long), straight jacket? To me, his main crime in life was being an arrogant p*ick and a bully. The rest was no worse than any other rider – he just happened to be better when doped.

Don’t go getting confused thinking I am condoning his actions but at some stage he’ll have to be considered as ‘time served’. And just don’t buy his bloody books – its quite simple.

This is going too far now, he deserves to be punished but there is only so much stress one man can take. I am somewhat fearful of where this could all lead.

Seeing as this has been resurrected and I started it…

Local pcsos (?) turned up one morning recently, stood right in front of the zig zag lines. My thoughts were “why the hell didn’t you at least attempt to hide?” so that you could catch these tossbags. Needn’t have worried, same fat git pulls right in in front of them slap bang on the lines!! Then clocks them (God knows how he didn’t see them in their yellow coats!!) and pulls off straight into traffic! They had a ‘word’ when he dropped his unfortunate offspring off at the gates!!

Pretty impressed they responded to complaints.

    The Prodigy!

And I think Metallica are getting better with age…although I also rate Johnson as high as Bon Scott. Different but just as good.

Which have done a good deal of testing on car seats. They test for side impact as well, which the “Standards” don’t. That was the case a few years back anyway when I was looking.

Again, this. If you’d have walked into my shop with a box of bits that you’d bought elsewhere, I wouldn’t even have taken the work off you. You’d have got told where to go in no uncertain terms.

I can only assume that you do not run a shop? It wouldn’t last long with that attitude. If by chance, you do have a bike shop please tell me which so that I never bother you. You’re obviously a very important man…

Would this be the same for an internal wall? I’m taking a double garage that had one half converted. The converted room is damn cold so was planning on just sticking some celutex up. Is that OK?

Likely to be considered as very low grade contaminant to the rest of the plastics recycling process. The industry has been moaning about council collections at the doorstep now leading to more difficult sorting processes further down the line.

Sign up to Experian – you can download your full credit report free of charge then cancel during the free period. Will give you a firmer idea of just how crap you’ve been with your money over the years…

Its not really a lock issue is it? Hi turning up to find locked doors ain’t gonna help his mood. If he’s abusive and violent it needs dealing with via the police not a lock smith.

Totalshell – fair enough that you value time with your kids rather than money but whatever you do there will be many that do the same – some young, some old. Point being that surely some tradesmen must be keen to earn while the demand is there? Not just one bloke outfits either – our local window companies were all crap.

I’ve been through the same recently for replacement windows and a stove. The guy for the stove came out and told me straight up that it would be X time before he could do the job – then quoted. He’ll get the work over all the others that say call back in three months when I’m less busy! If I were qualified (or even had the aptitude to become qualified) I’d be making hay if I were in their shoes. I guess a lot of these guys like the simple 9-5 life and have no ambition to grow their businesses…

Boat ride across the harbour to the zoo? Bondai (the northern beaches are quieter Manley (you can get a nice long ferry ride there) and Dee Why (sp)). Walk though the botanical gardens, Darling Harbour for more of a bars / restaurants scene. There’s a restaurant (revolving) at the top of a tower that I can’t remember the name of – great views. Day / overnight trip to the Blue Mountains?

I avoid traffic by not riding on the road at all. Even off road rides that have road sections in them I find unpleasant. Having been ‘clipped’ by a car when I was 16, I’ve never been mad keen to get back on the roads and the regular horror stories I read on here do nothing to encourage a change of heart.

Its sad, but its almost at a point where road cyclists should ‘expect’ an incident rather than not. This is not right of course but using a smidgeon of common sense would tell us all that with millions of idiots driving cars (aggression, steamed up windows, on the mobile etc etc), there’s a likelihood that you’ll meet one of them one day…

CHB – I’m not trying to say that the price is 12k – quite the opposite. Just confused as to why the Volvo website would suggest that it is. There are still BIG discounts on these to be had at Drive the Deal btw – in fact Volvo is offering (very subtly) 4k off a new one (with 0% APR as well).

I think shotsaway makes some interesting points. Setting a low residual perhaps to cover themselves for the increasing number of buyers on personal contract hire schemes that trade in every three years.

Just intrigued as I’d be quite keen if they really were 12k!!

Mate of mine is a vet – he told me about a woman bringing an Akita in. Dog on lead in one hand, new born baby in the other! Mate asks politely about arrangements at home and woman was gobsmacked that her ‘pet’ might not be the best choice with a baby in the house. Shows that just plain old stupidity is as common as dick owners (not that one necessarily excludes the other).
