I didn’t read all of the above but the sellers are being pretty ruthless, why not return the favour? Bid as high as you can go and then negotiate back down again near completion time. Sellers never reveal everything – use this to find new bits that need repair or replacement and lower your offer. You’ll be a long way down the process by then and no one will wish to start again…

Btw, I’d much rather we all operate more honestly than this and have a better set of regulations and legislation surrounding house buying…but we don’t. At the moment it encourages greed, selfishness and stupidity…

P20 – is that your motor, sounds like an opinion from experience rather than being a desk jockey insurance telesales executive in a Burton’s suit!

If it is, are there particular requirements required? Alarmed garage, tracker, mileage limits, no track days etc? I sometimes wonder with these motors if they become so exclusive that they are actually undesirable to thieves.

I’ve been looking at similar in that my current wired system is buggered. Quotes I’ve had for new systems with around 8-9 PIRS and extending into the garage are around £900 fitted (wired or wireless) which seems extortion to me as even at generous RRP prices the kit will cost no more than £200.

There’s a certain numbers of drivers that hate cyclists – whatever you do you will never change their attitudes. However, I would suggest that the vast majority of drivers that are involved in accidents or near misses with bikes do not start their days thinking how much fun it would be to knock a cyclist down. People make mistakes – wear bright clothes and use lights, give the majority of drivers the best opportunity to make less mistakes.

Why did you decide against the Motorpoint one?

Might not apply in your case as the original landlord is out of the picture but as a landlord I am obliged to pay the agency that rented the property for me a fee on any sale price if the tenant were to buy it. I suspect your original agent will now be trying to claim a fee if they can. Bloody leeches.

I tried PXing a car at a VW dealership – he used a daily auction guide and showed me the price on the screen. However, when I went back to sign on the dotted line he tried dropping me £200. I walked, never went back.

The only thing unreasonable here is that you both ruined a potential witch hunt. Much ado about nothing. For the record, I’d give the refund right away – the wrong product was supplied.

Just leave a note where the milk usually is saying “Milk thief, smile – you’re on CCTV”. When he looks up, jump off the roof ninja style (where obviously you’ve been camping out for a fortnight waiting for him) and chop both his hands off. I think that would qualify as proportional.

A craft knife as well! I now actually resent all of you for not making B&M a more regular topic on here – wasting my time with wheel sizes and dropper post reviews! I can already taste the Scampi Fries and they are still three miles away…

Maybe a bit above budget but its practically new. The performance data would suggest that its almost as swift as the bigger engines you are after.

They should give you a price for your motor over the phone as well – they did with mine.

I don’t think it unreasonable to expect the company to care about their employees’ property. If I were the employer, I’d want to improve things with better security.

I don’t know it that well but you will be spending a LOT of time travelling. The routes across the river can be awful for traffic although they were building another option last time I was there.

OP – is your business novel? If so you could check out the TSB SMART scheme which allows you to progress from market study all the way through to prototype production. TSB Innovation vouchers could also help in the short term although they will just provide £5k for someone else to do some R&D for you.

There are numerous angel groups around the country although you have to pay to pitch to most. Also check your local university as many have funding to help businesses get off the ground, they do the work and you get the benefit. Think about patent protection if it is novel.

I was on business in Istanbul a couple of years ago and the traffic crossing the bridges was horrendous. Bloke in a clapped out family car put his blues on to get through. Our guide says it was common and anyone getting caught got a small fine. Great thing was that they only got fined once per day so it they got busted they were free to put them on again for the rest of the day and just showed their “receipt” if they got caught again!!

Just picked up my bars and post from Congleton. They will go in the boot on trips away in case of breakage! Always end up breaking something…

There’s one in the town but that may be the ‘holiday village’ one that you are referring to – certainly has arcade etc. We found another (due to the first trying to charge us 20 odd quid each to pitch small tents) further north on the road out of Aber. There was a sign to it on the road. It was really shit but qualified under your criteria of quiet! Sorry for vagueness as I don’t know Aber well enough to name road names etc

Mine cancelled too but a voucher given by Wiggle as an apology…for a whole £1!!!!

I sorted of expected the order to be cancelled as I was quite late on the PSA but a £1 is just taking the piss. No compo is owed by any means so just leave it at that. Offering me a pound has just got my back up with them.

They either come painted or primed ready to be painted. MDF is easy to paint, that’s one of its selling points.

Have you read the box? Some say for low pressure systems only i.e. not a water tank in the loft (if that is what you have). I’ve had the same although the cold keeps a decent pressure, the hot is useless.

This is confusing the hell out of me!!! I have BT Infinity but no BT TV or Sky, just ‘regular TV’.

If I want to avail of this ‘once in a lifetime offer’ (I do), would I need to buy BT TV in order to watch the footy? Or could I watch on the laptop without having to pay anything extra?

Whatever you agree informally between you and your neighbours could well go to rat shit if a problem arises in the future. Looking at the link allthepies provided would suggest that you will be responsible for the pipe if your neighbours no longer use it.

You have said they don’t want a repaired pipe under their new extension so they should re-route. However, if that breaks or the pipe in the next neighbour breaks, you could be liable for the damage. Check your deeds, check with the water company and then you know the reality. After that its just a gamble – do you route directly to the main and remove a lot of risk (at a cost) or do you just leave it with your neighbour re-routing the pipes under their property and linking back up to your boundary. I’d do the latter as in my mind the risk is low.

The old Town is not far from the station. You could park legally there but there are cars constantly coming and going so its not what you’d call quiet. Better at the far end where there are less bars.
