Have you told the mortgage company and or home insurance provider that you have a lodger? Both will want to know and ‘could’ increase your premiums (for the insurance bit).

OP – question that has been asked already about evidence. Without it I’d guess the court would think your neighbour is indeed a cock but won’t be able to do anything about it. If he’s that much of a knob, lying in court will be no problem to him. If he doesn’t turn up it will be a different matter but that’s a real risk.

uhmm so now there is the Aerobed at 74 quid or the Intex one at 41. Aerobed looks like it might be more comfy I guess.

DezB – I’d be happy on the floor with an old Karrimat, alas its not just me, therefore there is no logic to the definition of ‘decent’…apart from it not being a “camping mat”.

The insuLITE ones look OK but out of stock. Maybe the Vango then – thanks for the suggestions. Can’t use a normal mattress as its for a holiday so needs to be transported.

Co-operative electrical were also good when I used them just recently for the first time. Delivery slot of an hour and no extra charge for Saturday. Will be thinking about AO next time though – nice to have choice, usual default is currys! Currys extended warranties are reasonable prices however.

Lots of this stuff in Macclesfield Halfords if any good for anyone? Bib shorts in L and XL, jackets at £30 in yellow and tops in S and M I think. Always though Adidas cycling gear was good quality tbh.

I’ve been with homeprotect for a couple of years – 400 odd. Went up to 467 on renewal but just did a new application online and it came down to 293. 5 specified bikes and other bits and bobs away from hime with accidental damage, new for old etc

One man show – my arse! You think he could just push through an agenda like that without ‘Call me Dave’ and his cabinet cronies backing him behind the scenes? He just happened to be the only one that would admit “This is what I am and what I believe in”.

Ignore the policies – I agree they were wrong (in fact I have no idea but am happy to believe that the vast majority of teaching professionals know what impact they were having and are right). I can’t believe anyone in this country could think anything of what Gove did to be “unTory”. What the hell did you expect Gove to do? He’s a Tory and more people voted for them than Labour – the ‘country’ got what it wanted.

Despite this, I admire the character trait of standing up for what you believe in. If we could trust all politicians to stick by their beliefs, it would make voting a whole lot easier – and that is the crux of my badly written point!

EDIT: Woppit, I do understand but foolishly still hope that some integrity might eventually, some day (get voted in) wriggle its way into Westminster.

Gove did what he thought was right without giving the slightest hint of a toss about what people thought of him for doing so. We need more people like that in politics rather than the snivelling, wet, nose up their leaders’ arses brigade that do what they are told and nothing more (waves at the Lib Dems that I wasted my vote on).

The vast majority of Tory politicians are evil, nasty, vile little creeps that pretend to be something different. Gove sort of held his hand up and didn’t really deny what he stood for. Most Labour MPs as far as I can tell are no different to the Torys in their behaviour, they just claim to have different policies. I don’t trust them either but it would be nice to think that some would actually do what they claim should I vote for them (which is what I’d feel most comfortable doing).

Lots of “lf” waste i.e. black bag waste is now incinerated for energy recovery. Trouble is that it is causing laziness in that recycling drops when there is an ‘easy option’ to just burn everything. Its a complicated industry made much worse than it need be by a Government that couldn’t give a toss. Its one thing that those commie Europeans deal with much more professionally and sustainably than we do.

When you consider how good our innovation is over here, many of the recycling techniques are invented here, you begin to realise just how screwed up our waste policies are.

Many of these places use contracted fitters rather than their own staff. Our fitter left the existing grippers in place when he laid the carpet when we had paid for new. His didn’t give a toss as he thought the existing ones were OK. No doubt he charged the carpet company. It was small value but short cuts are no surprise in these scenarios.

Why would they share that detail with you and why would you want to know? If you are happy with what they are paying you then it becomes an irrelevance. Just set a minimum order quantity from you to them and let them get on with it. I assume there are no royalties involved?

As for the legality – sounds like they are politely telling you to do your own research. I suppose that until you sign a contract with them you could just choose to compete rather than using their services. If I were them, I’d not tell you either.

We did the Back ‘o’ Skiddaw route last weekend. For a biffa that ain’t been out on the bike much it was hard work! However, it did seem to be the time of year to do it as I think it would be boggy otherwise. Really stunning part of the Lakes and hardly a sole about (bar a single grumpy walker).

I’m now worried, I got a random £10 voucher last year but all seemed kosher as it was a message actually within my ebay account. Spent it, got the goods and no follow up nonsense or emptying of bank accounts thereafter…yet. Did seem odd though!

Surely this damages your self proclaimed ‘World’s best Dad” status? Given that you tell us frequently about how great you are for not having a job and looking after your kids it also seems that this role is so time consuming that you aren’t able to walk your kids to school or find a safe place to park. Four letter word is fine but the letters are all wrong.

Sharkbait – read the OP’s latter contributions. Being pulled over is mentioned.

Del – The OP implies that in the terminology he uses. The girl “startled” my dog and wife. No she didn’t, she just happened to be in the same public space and the dog bit her.

Sharkbait – The OP referred to the danger of his wife being pulled over whilst pregnant, 3 months or heavily pregnant makes no odds (I thought I had read an imminent arrival on the baby scene but was wrong). If the dog is big enough to pull her over – its not a sensible combination.

Why does the other stuff not make sense? A grown woman and dog being startled by a small girl?? Its the phraseology of dog owners’ – always someone else’s fault.

Mrs Toast – harsh lesson in manners! Really? Maybe you should get bitten every time you forget to say please or thank you. Moronic thing to say.

What are the downsides to muzzling a dog in public? If its muzzled in public it can’t bite members of the public and these issues would never occur. Is it cost that is the problem or cruelty to the dog?

I’m intrigued by how exactly the little girl “startled” your wife and dog – seems to be the little girls fault.

I’m surprised by how the dog managed to bite the girl if on a short lead and therefore presumably under control?

It wasn’t muzzled because it had been off the lead playing with a ball – as it was now on a “short lead” surely it should have been muzzled?

The phone was dropped and the owner wanted it replaced – bloody faced cheek to ask for the damage that your wife was responsible for to be sorted!

Its a family pet, I get that but its all typical dog owner denial rubbish that we hear all the time. Some mitigation in your case because of the sad circumstances in which you inherited the dog but better decision making from dog owners is needed. A heavily pregnant wife and a dog like that are never a sensible option.

I had it a few years ago – made for an interesting manoeuvre in the car as I was in the outside lane of the M1 at the time. Next episode left me on the bathroom floor looking up at the sink that I was trying to shave next to – wondering why I was on the floor!

Well done for getting to speak with a GP so quickly!

It doesn’t seem like a choice to be made here – rather ensuring you do things in the right order to benefit yourselves. No reason at all to not follow the Scotland job, assuming you OH will follow up there now rather than November.

Continue with planning for Canada while enjoying a better salary and location. You have a more senior position on your CV for future if you need it and are eliminating no options at all (unless some of the visa options are aged related?).

    The world is your crustacean.

Are the driver awareness courses available commercially? It could be wise, in way of preparing your plea to the court, that you have taken action yourself in an attempt to improve your driving. Turning up having already undergone such training ‘may’ show that you have a degree of dramatic ability remorse.

Is it really Pine or pine coloured laminate over a composite board? If the latter then formaldehyde resins are often used and can pong a bit. Mostly a problem of a generation ago when more gunk was used in the glue but a possibility?

Sold to F in Law and rental – I assume he’s using it as an investment rather than living there? If he gets decent tenants in, they will leave after 6 months because of the chavs. He will be constantly spending time seeking new tenants. If he gets chavs in as tenants, Anne’s problems are doubled.

There’s sweet FA you can do about the chavs (are they owners or renters?) and that type of behaviour always seems to win. I wouldn’t have sold that situation onto a family member though…

Why would the enduro finishing kit cost £4k extra – you could buy a complete bike equipped with that lot for similar money. Nice frame though, sometimes its nice to be so skint that the five minutes of raised heartbeat and sweaty palms as the credit card comes out isn’t even a consideration!

I’m a little confused – nothing seems to have been mentioned about your phrase “just as the road turns right”. You also infer that the buses ‘usually cut the corner’ and that there wouldn’t be room for the bus to get past.

Are you actually saying that its a blind bend and during your reversing manoeuvre you not only used the right hand lane but also swung into the bus lane? Thus causing the bus to brake hard i.e. you could have stopped and let the bus past but chose to complete the reverse? If there was a bus lane, the bus should have been able to get past whatever you were doing in your own lane.

Knowing my local buses I’m sure it was being driven like qualifying for Monaco by a big fat, angry future heart attack but you need to be more careful how you explain things, especially if you ever have to write a statement.

Strange, they still seem expensive to me. Been looking for 1 1/8 u-turn coils with decent steerer length and they all seem £300plus.
